We didn't have any receipt or anything, just an email we did 14 years ago. We just contacted the company on their website and amazingly, they have the record by the address. The service department was so helpful, they contacted us and contacted the manufacturer to set up appointment with the case number to get it replaced. The windows were replaced 14 years ago in one day and we had many custom sized windows. The amazing thing is they know exactly which window that cracked by us describing the location of the window. Anlin Delmar (Milgard) called us and setup the appointment. They came and replaced the windows in a few hours. It was amazing and we're extremely happy. Now we know, go with the best and reputable company like Custom Exteriors and a good manufacturer like Anlin Delmar to have after service years after the work is done. ONE CORRECTION THE QUOTE TO INSTALL THE INDOOR TRIMS WAS 3 THOUSAND NOT 5 THOUSAND. For the rest pictures do not lie. Kevin did call to follow up. He did offer to send someone to fix the mess his company left behind. Unfortunately, his crew left stained finger prints in the wood in addition to staining the windows in a totally different stain shade than the one I requested. As I have no confidence in his company's abilities, he offered to cover the cost. I DECLINED HIS OFFER. This company knew all along what was happening in my home. I sent pictures, I begged for a REASONABLE detailed quote, I was willing to pay extra for something that should have been included in my quote. NO RESPONSE NO RESOLUTION. Update #2 My Provia Fiberglass exterior doors was installed in late February 2025 and it was good experience. I received a update call that my doors were en route from the manufacturers and was easily able to schedule an installation date. The crew arrived on time and got to work quickly. They were done less than 6hours later including hauling away the old wooden door and cleanup. The fiberglass doors are a real upgrade to our 25+year old wooden doors. The wooden doors are just too heavy and too much up keep for our life style. My husband and I really like the Emtek hardware we chose. At first we second guessed the black interior lever but once installed, it really goes well with our entry way chandelier and the metal stair balusters. We are happy that we went with Custom Exteriors for our exterior door needs. They genuinely wants their customers to be happy and want to serve the local community. Today I met a most pleasant project manager for Custom Exteriors-Jason Rugaard! He made me feel at ease right away, not at all a pushy salesman that you sometimes encounter (which turns me off right away, if they are slick salesmen like that). This one sounds trustworthy and honest which I like-you can tell GOOD people! Very informative and personalizes to what you need. Unfortunately, my door is an odd size (what else is new, I always seem to have the weird stuff going on!?) so they have limited selection of steel doors I can have. I learned lots of things from Jason-like who would have thought fiberglass is more expensive than steel (which is the strongest and most sturdy which is what I am looking for!). And the steel doors have a different core base inside like foam,but still strong, I like that they use reinforced plates at the deadbolts/frame area. I like that it is a lifetime warranty and they will come out to adjust at anytime like when the house settles,or an earthquake occurs and it may shift. I like that they have a guard down on the bottom that when you close the door it shifts into place closing any gaps. Looks solid and quality work of course, since the doors are made by the Amish/Mennonites!!! I LOVE Amish and Mennonite work and furniture (think QUALITY,functional and practical) and I support MADE in the USA! Oh, btw, US STEEL so no tariffs-even better! I already had a couple of door companies come to give me an estimate and none of them gave me details like this gentleman did who was well prepared. Another company did not even bother to come out, but just sent me to a website to look and build it myself and then give me an estimate (you know that if they didn't bother, I wasn't going to bother as well!). So there is a big difference in the way this company and their representative treated and educated the customer which makes me trust them more, like it will be a job well done! I like that he will help me find another vendor that may carry my size door, if he can't provide what I want or need due to my door size. This sounds like a responsible and solid, good conscientious company and going ABOVE and BEYOND is my motto and EXACTLY what I look for in a company! It's my second review of this company. They had my Windows and doors replaced back in 2002 at my home and at a rental property in 2010. Both in Danville. I found a leak in one of the windows a couple of years ago at my home. My interior dry wall would get wet after a heavy storm. I contacted them. They came back and fixed the calking outside. After reading all the good reviews, i decided to invite them to my house to give an estimate on window replacement. The first part of conversation was normal sale pitch, ok, i am ok with it, i let him do his job. The whole thing took much longer than i expected as the sale person Walker kept talking and selling his product. The first quote he gave me was way above my expectations as i have done good amount of research, so i rejected the offer. But after a few minutes he came back and made another offer which is much lower than his initial offer, ok, we can work on that. But when he pencil it down, it is 30% higher than his second verbal offer. The worst part is he got mad after i said no to his second offer. He started to attack me and yell at me, said i wasted his time! Are you kidding me? Yell at me in my house? I sent him out right away! So unprofessional! I hired Custom Exteriors after interviewing 4 windows contractors. I chose them because the person (Greyeagle) who came to my door to do the initial measurements was the most professional and had the most knowledge about windows and permits. The crew did a great job installing the windows. They covered up my furniture and floors and cleaned up really well after their construction. They are a bit more pricey but the windows they installed were more high end. I have been really happy with how beautiful my new windows look. I should also mention that their customer service really stood out - they responded pretty quickly, service department even contacted the manufacturer for me, Greyeagle stopped by to check the installation work. I am now considering them for more windows in the future. I did run into some confusion and delays in the end about permit payment and scheduling for the final inspection. I thought that my final payment included permit fees but it turned out it didn't. When i reached out to schedule inspection, took them two weeks to get back to tell me I hadn't paid for the permit fee?! I wish they could have included everything in one invoice or at least reminded me of needing to pay for permit from a separate invoice. Overall still a very positive experience. read more

We were in need of upgrading our windows. So we got several quotes. To be honest, we got 7 quotes. And we countered all of the pros and cons of getting cheaper windows vs better windows, and we finally decided to go with better windows. With more expensive windows, we also thought service would be more better than the cheaper ones. Lesson learned. We met the salesman, and he was good at talking and selling... saying he would do this and he would do that. We bought into it. We had a tentative date when the windows will arrive and will be installed. Initially, everything was going well. On the day of installation, three guys show up. They did notify us that they were late. That was fine. We did tell the installers if they can use mats and covers because we got new floors and rugs. And they did. Here were the issues. 1. Above the patio doors, the workers punched through the walls. There were 4 bumps. I emailed the operation person about them. No respond. I will follow up with another email and another phone call. 2. Installation went okay. However, they were supposed to come back and were to finish up the next day. So we waited. I got a call at 11-ish and was told that the installers were not coming in. So I asked when? I was told probably the next day. I reached out the day of if they were going to finish up. No word. I called and left a voicemail. No responds. It was the 4th day since the installation, and there is still no update. 3. When we spoke to the salesman at the beginning of the sales, we were told that we were going to get windowsills changed from metal to wood. We knew that each would cost more, and we were fine with that. The day of the installation, we were told that that upgrade was not in our initial contract. And we contacted the salesman about it, and he said it wasn't mentioned and that was why they weren't in the contract. He said each upgrade was $129. After considering all of the info we received, we said no to the upgrade. Good salesman but poor service. Even the operation at Custom Exterior, there is poor follow up and is poor communication. The scope of work was new construction installation of (4) windows. Sales person was fantastic, demo crew protected everything and did an excellent job with the demo and installation. Stucco was done very well. My only issues: Worksite was left a mess. Not a real big deal but my front porch had a good layer of dust from when the stucco was torn out and some items were left in the front yard. (1) of the windows is next to our driveway and we have a car parked there with a car-cover and a minivan. The car cover has stucco mud/debris over the front of it and the minivan has some stucco on the front grill and bumper. The soffits of the house which we've painted white also have stucco on them. We're only on our 1st coat so we'll clean that off and may give it a touch up prior to the finish coat. read more

We hired Custom Exteriors to replace all our windows years ago when we bought a hundred-year-old house that still had single-pane windows, some of which wouldn't open any more or wouldn't stay open on their own due to the original rope pulley/counterweight being broken. They had the Anlin-brand windows that we heard from others were very good, and gave us a good price on replacing all of them. We ended up needing to make a couple of the windows larger to meet modern code requirements and it wasn't an issue at all. They even recommended we replace one spot where two small single-hung windows were installed next to each other with one larger window, which we love and gives us a great view into the backyard garden. Installation was clean and fast, and the house felt quieter and better insulated right away. So when it came time to replace our exterior doors, we came right to these guys to do it for us. The existing doors were very old. The front wooden door would get stuck in the winter when it swelled, and the back door would probably have done the same if it didn't have such a large leaky gap around the frame. There was some question on whether they'd be able to replace the front sidelites as well, but we ultimately ended up keeping the original ones since our primary goal was to better insulate the house and there might be structural aspects of the very old doorframe that would balloon our costs if they had to be rebuilt. We appreciated the honesty of that discussion and are quite happy with our results. Once again, they gave us a great deal on our new doors, and they arrived much sooner than the (very long due to Covid delays) estimate we were given, which is going to be great to help avoid the smoke and heat of summer. Installation went well and they took great care to cover our furniture and board games nearby to make sure there was very little dust and debris. Nothing for us to clean up afterwards! The back door's window into the garden is so crisp and clear, and just like when we did the windows, the house felt cooler and quieter immediately. Once again, we had an excellent experience with Custom Exteriors. 11 years ago, we purchased Milgard windows for the whole house from Custom Exteriors which included a lifetime warranty. Overall, we've been happy with the windows. But recently one of the window's metal crank mechanisms broke. First, we called Milgard, but they were giving us the run around. We next called Custom Exteriors and talked with Chris the Service Coordinator. We explained the situation and how Milgard wasn't being helpful. Despite Custom Exteriors not working with Milgard windows anymore, Chris still agreed to send out a couple of service guys to fix the window. We told Chris that we would be happy to pay for one additional window crank to be replaced since it's the same age as the one that broke. Chris said that Custom Exteriors would replace that crank for free as well even though it wasn't broken. It's been a few days since both windows' cranks were replaced, and everything is working great. Thank you, Chris, and Custom Exteriors! read more

Based on the recommendation of a highly competent and trusted handyman, I contacted Custom Exteriors to replace one set of French doors and replace all the older Marvin windows in my kitchen and master bedroom with the latest model of Marvin windows. After being told by the sales person, Jason Rugaard, that we could probably have the job completed in two weeks without our having to be in the house, we signed the contract without getting a competitive bid. It took 10 months for the job to finish. From the time of the signing of the contract nothing happened in a reasonable time frame. Delays in detailing the job, obtaining the appropriate city permits, production and delivery time, installation and completion of the job were so extensive that the time between signing the contract and completion of the job was 10 months. We had to be physically in the home for the last two weeks of the job. The only things that were timely were the demands for the scheduled payments. The various departments were polite but never took responsibility for the delays; they always blamed someone else. We spoke with Jeff Kendall, one of the owners, and he too took the position that it was always someone else's fault that held up the job. At the end we were badgered to make the final payment while we were waiting for them to clear the considerable debris they left on our property. If this is Custom Exterior's idea of a job well done, you should be very wary of proceeding with this company. read more

We went with Custom Exteriors because they are Diamond Certified, but we were impressed with what they had to offer. They are not the cheapest, but I would say mid-range for what we were looking for. It was hard for us to find a window contractor because the last window contractor we almost worked with, was about to lose his license and was trying to get us to work with him anyway. Luckily, no money was lost or work was done, but finding a contractor we could trust was a challenge. Depending on what you do, the order takes 6-8 weeks, more like 8 for us. When they do schedule, they do show up on time. I'm just relieved to get 1967 windows and doors out of our house. The only thing we noticed was glue residue on the outside. Our wood siding had a small amount of dry rot around a chimney due to flashing problems long ago. This problem coupled with a desire to replace the original aluminum double pain Windows drove me to replace the siding and Windows. I took bids from 5 companies but only Custom Exteriors seemed to understand the work scope and my desire to add pre-painted "concrete board" siding. Their price was competitive and signed a contract. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the materials from JamesHardie siding and trim and Anlin Windows and Doors. The crew performing the work was outstanding not only in efficiency and skill but was pleasant and highly motivated working together smoothly and with care and craftsmanship on the job. I was extremely impressed with how quickly they completed the job. The crew cleaned up very well nightly before leaving. After several weeks I have this observation about the siding and new Windows. First what I call the "Thermal time constant" of the house is much longer. We open the Windows at night to let cool air in an seal up in the morning waiting for the house to heat up to the point where I turn on the A/C. This time is several hours longer than previous. Secondly, the new windows and siding also make the house quieter. Also note that the noise of the leaf blower outside my office window is greatly reduced. I was looking for Anlin windows and after poor response from the Anlin dealer in Concord, I went to the Custom Exterior showroom in Livermore. Very comprehensive with very good customer service. The company was extremely good about scheduling and their install crew was excellent. The install crew made sure they covered furniture and put down cardboard for their foot traffic. I highly, highly recommend Custom Exteriors. Their office staff is also exceptional. I think they provide very good value for the money with one exception. Scaffolding was needed on two 2nd story windows and they charge $600 for the scaffolding setup on each window. I have setup scaffolding before and know scaffolding on these windows can be set up in about 30 minutes. Which is about what it took the installers. So $600 per window is extreme. Even painful. That said, I would use Custom Exteriors again. read more

Everyone come and go spend maximum of 15 min and said they will be back with quotation. But Custom Exterior was only one visit me and set almost over 3 hours help me what I need to do and consider if changing my doors. At same time sales man had all samples and his PC with him to show me then made full quotation before leaving my home. Immediately choose them and order every single doors at my home and some windows. During process they fully helped with city permit plus their sales manager David help me with my local permit. Doors were arrived as it was promised less than 8 weeks. Before installation their Cesar and one of owner of Custom Exterior Jeff visited my house to make sure everything go smooth and since I was worry about home keep clean while this happening. They issuer me be all done and they would cover everything. Installer were here few days later and it was amazing how organized and fast started replacing doors. Everything was cover or moved and at end they vacuum everything put everything back to normal. Installers Robert and Christopher were marvelous in explaining along while they were making progress. All my doors were installed in 3 days. A lot of work. Robert made sure job is done clean with all boarders was putting around doors. I could not imagine how everything from begging went smooth plus they were really patient with all questions I had. I recommend Custom Exterior highly giving 5 star does not reprint this company wish could put more star on top. Thank for great job Custom exterior.
