We had older windows that occasionally leaked, and eventually we determined that the siding was the real source of the problem. Best Exteriors came out to inspect and review, answered all of my questions, and gave a very fair estimate compared to competitors. Best was also the only company that offered to fully tear off the old siding and install insulation. They were also the only company that noticed a small section of siding on the neighbor's side of the fence and offered to replace it. This ended up being very good because the full tear-off revealed dry rot that another contractor might have missed (an which they repaired for another ~10%, which seemed fair). Overall, the new siding, doors, and windows are a huge upgrade both in appearance and performance. And the insulation means our bedrooms are now noticeably warmer. We were also especially pleased with the color options so that we didn't have to have the back of the house repainted. We would strongly recommend Best Exteriors and would happily work with them again. read more

I received three quotes, Best Exteriors' pricing on Anlin's top of the line windows was very reasonable and competitive. Eric did not try to pressure me to decide on the spot, which I appreciated. It took only one month from signing the contract to job completion. Scheduling was fast once the windows arrived from the manufacturer. The installers worked diligently to demolish the stubborn old cast iron frames and retrofitted the new windows, caulked and finished all 15 windows in one very long day, much to my amazement. I had thought they would never be able to finish before it got dark, but they did. I had removed all the curtains and blinds myself, but Stan and his crew took down the old and broken blind fixtures and put them, screws and brackets, carefully next to the windows. Small things that impressed me. They put runners throughout the house because we don't wear outside shoes in my house. They vacuumed the floors thoroughly after each window was taken down, picked up and swept all the debris outside, and took the discarded old blinds. They did not talk much, were hard at work, super courteous and considerate. I kept thinking if only all young men were so neat, polite, and diligent. Eric followed up to see how it all went. This company installed Anlin slider doors in our sunroom and the installation was very good but they forgot to install screen latches and Daniel, the rep who sold us the doors, became completely unresponsive. I believe the installer would have come out and placed the latches without a delay but Daniel blocked us from communicating with Alex. I had to get Anlin to come out and place the latches. The doors had a threshold that extended out beyond the slab and the Anlin rep indicated the installer should have placed support under the threshold. I was not able to get a response from Daniel and he again blocked any communication with the installer. I would never use this company again because of the sales rep. The installer was good and the stucco repair sub was outstanding but they got him at the last minute. Very poor business model. read more

The salesmanship is pushy. This might just be this one guy, Daniel, but it reflects on the whole company. Daniel called me out of the blue (but very friendly) about window replacements as if he was returning a call. I asked him if I had contacted him via Yelp, he lied and said "yes yes" and got me to schedule an appointment. Later I checked that I hadn't contacted them, so messaged him. He called back and admitted that they had paid for my information from a third party (which is an common thing, I don't mind it). But due to the initial dishonesty, I just told him that "I'd like to cancel the appointment. I've already reached out to the companies I wanted quotes from". He became angry and aggressive, said that "we are too good for you anyway", I said "yeah" and ended the call. He proceeded to message me that he's not "losing sleep over it and it will be a waste of time. Blocked and deleted". Cool man, good for you, wasn't looking for a chat anyway. But any company whose employees react to a simple "sorry, not interested" with such an over the top behavior would be a red flag for me. Even if they do great job with the windows, how can I trust them to be reasonable if anything goes wrong? read more

Our Windows arrived to his warehouse in early November and we scheduled a date for installation. He sent three amazing technicians, I've never been so impressed with their skill, technique and efficiency. I signed a contract (sales agent: Daniel) on Oct 21 to replace all windows with exception of garage window. (contract copy attached for reference). I was very clear that I needed the replacement latest by Thanksgiving and he said 4-5 weeks would be enough time. I kept on following up with NO answer from Daniel. The windows did not get installed until a day before Christmas. This was super disappointing considering the contract was signed with the agreement of having the work done by Thanksgiving. Finally, the windows were replaced on Dec 23-24th. In the process, the crew broke the Garage window and since it was not a part of the contract, they were not able to replace and instead added a plastic sheet to cover the window. Daniel confirmed that they would come back in no later that 2 weeks and replace the broken window. Similar pattern continued and no word from him or anyone at Best Exteriors. since this was january with weather cold and rains, the water seeped into garage and ruined the wooden shelves, other furniture and bunch of shoes and other items. I called few times and the customer service kept on telling me that someone would get back but No one got back. I had to call my contractor to repair the window to keep the water out, fix the damage, replace the shelves in Garage. This costed me close to $6,000 and inconvenience, frustration, time loss. read more

What a facelift! Our original stucco was poorly applied, falling off when touched and the windows were leaking and the wrong size for the openings: a real piece of work. Best Exteriors came in and fixed everything: demo-ed our stucco (and the wood siding beneath it) and replaced it with a gorgeous combination of Hardie Board and cedar siding and refitting all our window openings with new windows, even converting one window to a sliding glass door along the back of the house. Alex (project manager) worked well with us throughout the project, and the work done by the other Alex (construction/foreman) was fantastic, with good communication throughout, touching base on all the finer details. We signed the contract and we're contacted by "Alex" to schedule a final measurement, and was quoted 2 weeks until our windows would be ready. 3 weeks later I made a call to "Alex" to schedule our installation only to find out it would be another week, "Alex" refused to schedule a weekend. My review from yesterday seems to have disappeared. I was going to revise it, but there appears to be nothing to revise. Yesterday was a two-star, I raised it to a 3-star (I couldn't figure out how to make it 3.5, so perhaps Yelp will fix it ). It is based on the customer service & a disagreement between the permit department and Best Exteriors who still believe that the window didn't need to be tempered, but have replaced it. However, my receipt clearly says WHAT I PAID FOR WAS A TEMPERED GLASS WINDOW. THE WHOLE STORY I had windows installed in 2017. I was very happy with the windows and the installation. However, the City of Berkeley did a random safety inspection on the house (2022) which is next door to mine and is now being rented. During that inspection, the inspector called the window in the bathroom, because it was not tempered and did not meet the code. There is supposed to be a code in the corner of the window indicating it is tempered. It looked tempered to me, however, there was no such code. It took me many, many phone calls to Best Exteriors and the Manufacturer, (Analin) to in fact prove that it was not tempered. I have produced the original order stating that the bathroom window that should have been installed was to be tempered. Again, after many, many phone calls and emails, to the manager, Alex informed me that the new window was ordered. I requested proof since the building department was requiring this. This was at least a month ago. I never received this proof. The building department will be reinspecting May 22nd, at which time, if I don't have the evidence, I will be fined $400! WHAT HAS CHANGED After this was written, I received a phone call from Alex, and he delivered the new window this morning! I thank him for this. He still insists that the building department was wrong, and it didn't have to be tempered! I prefer to not fight City Hall and accept their determination, and the fact that TEMPERED IS WHAT I PAID FOR. The windows are good, the installation was good, but the customer service in fulfilling the lifetime warranty has something to be desired. I would have given 3.5 stars, but couldn't figure out how to add half a star. The total has to include the lifetime warranty, one of the reasons I chose to go with Best Exteriors. I'm hoping that YELP will not remove this. I have reviewed many other organizations in the past years, and this is the first time it has been removed (unless I'm missing something, but I don't have time to write this again). Too much time and energy has gone into getting what I paid for. read more

We were hoping on redoing the siding and soffit job that the previous installer butchered (we were open to almost starting from scratch). If I could give two separate reviews. I would give Daniel one star for being the stereotypical salesman. Alex & Alex were spectacular. Daniel is WAY too nice until you sign, after that he's less than interested. We signed the contract bc the price was right and our neighbor endorsed Alex. After we signed, we didn't hear from Daniel until I called him. When I asked who was in charge, he incorrectly claimed that he was in charge. Daniel actually yelled at me when I complained that he didn't call to tell us that our windows weren't going to be installed on the promised date. Alex should replace him with somebody more competent. When the windows were installed, Alex and Alex were everything a client could hope for. Professional, expert, efficient and courteous. Where shall I start? Loved the people energy in the beginning, but not too happy with the people energy/customer service at the end. It also took over a month after the measurements were taken for me to ask if my windows were ready. Not sure when they would've called me. Anyway, have an elevated rancher and had 5 windows and 2 sliding doors replaced. The windows are such an upgrade from our old 30+ years old windows but I can say that I'm not 100% satisfied. I know I have to get my house painted, but the sealant or paint around my existing sliding door frame is sloppy. I did reach out to Daniel via text a couple times and also emailed and called the office to see if that's how it's supposed to be, and to have someone possibly come back to touch it up and fix it so I don't have issues after I get my house painted and it starts raining, but sadly no response. I tried to get an estimate from this company because I wanted to support a smaller local business. Submitted a request for quote online. Initial phone call came quickly soon after. Scheduled an appointment. Rep texts me to confirm for a time that wasn't what we had discussed. Clarified actual meeting time with him. Waited for him to arrive. Never did. He never called. He never showed. Then when I reached out to confirm that he wasn't showing, his excuse was that he never received my address. There's no way I would do business with a company so flippant about getting my business in the first place. If this is how you treatment your customers before ground is broken I can only imagine how the projects would go. This company must be so flush with jobs that they don't even have to be organized to meet with clients when they say they are going to and then when the client reaches out, the rep basically scapegoats the client.
