If you wish your car made more noises and would like to be treated rudely, definitely give this place a try. I 've been taking my car to this guy since they opened. Everytime I pick my car up there is something else wrong with it. I took it in for an oil change yesterday and on the way home the engine was ticking. It was near 5pm on Friday, so I immediately turned around and took it back. On the way, I turned the vent air on and it smelled like smoke. That's not normal for my vehicle. I asked them to please check it because I don't know a lot about cars, but I know that when an engine has no oil it'll click. They looked at me like I was crazy. He didn't want to look at it! ...Like, Dude, check your work! You just worked on it and now it doesn't sound right.... They told me he's working on another job and I could wait. (Excuse me, I was there before that other guy and I ALREADY PAID.) I told them I had 10 people coming for dinner, I couldn't wait. He tried to tell me that I had on oil leak, like that should explain the noise. I've had an oil leak forever, it's never made that noise before. He should know that. He's been working on my car for years. I asked if I could leave my car and come back and get it later so they could take their sweet time getting around to it. I had already paid so I told them to leave the keys in the car. They said they would. They did not, and they won't be open til Monday. Thank God I have an extra key or I wouldn't have been able to get to work all weekend! They didn't know that though. They could have called me when they were done so I could get my keys before they closed for the weekend. Apparently it was already asking too much to want my car to be driveable after a simple oil change. So RUDE! But they did fix the noise. I just really did not appreciate the way they acted like I was stupid and not as important as the next guy's car they were now working on. I was nice to them about it throughout - even though they made obvious I was inconveniencing THEM. (Then CHECK YOUR WORK!) It wasn't exactly convenient for me either. It's not like I was being picky about something petty. That ticking sound could indicate major engine damage occuring. When I took my car in a couple years ago to get the belt changed, I had to take it back because it squealed so bad. I took it there for new brakes a few months ago, and now everytime I back up my brakes squeal really loud. It's embarrassing. I won't be inconveniencing this business in the future. read more

Honest, competent, and friendly... rarities in the auto-repair universe. Miguel is especially helpful and friendly. Oil change, smog, they even did a major engine overhaul for a friend of mine. Another lady I know brought her car to him and he told her "the best way to remedy this is to swap out the motor, with a healthy, used one, it's less money than a repair and rebuild... We had a flat tire on our way to the beach. Luckily there were three tire stores with in a half mile. The first two tire shops said "sorry" it was Saturday and they were closing soon. This shop was already closed but still helped us out anyways. We'll go out of our way to come back, these guys were so nice- they tried not to take any money. read more

We're spending four days in Morro Bay heading towards San Diego, we started 50 days ago in Texas. Saturday morning, October 2, we started our vehicle to drive the area only to find it going only 2 to 3 mph. A Google search showed every mechanical shop in town was closed except Bay Auto and Repair. We luckily managed to creep into this business and explained our dilemma. We were told they would not be able to look at it until Monday, October 4, and they were very nice and professional. They had cars all over the parking lot and that was very understandable, so we agreed. However, this was going to mess up the plans we had for this area but that's the way it was. About 1:30 PM that same Saturday we received a call from The shop saying they had our vehicle ready to go! It turned out to be a clogged fuel filter which they replaced and I couldn't possibly have been any happier. The vehicle is running perfectly and we will be able to continue the exact plan we originally had. I don't believe I can speak highly enough of this establishment. I highly recommend them, they are so friendly, professional, courteous and reasonable and I feel fortunate to have done business with them. read more

They have taken care of our VW Diesel Jetta and have been very competent, good prices, knowledgeable mechanics and fairly quick repair times. Denis, the chief mechanic, was accommodating and diagnosed immediately that my rear tires ran uneven due to age and needed replacement. While visiting Morro Bay for a week long girl's camp my car had an issue with the transmission. I was one of 6 cars traveling with 30 girls and leaders for a day hike and beach outing when the car started to have problems. We rearranged girls into the other cars and needed a "rescue" car from the camp to come help out. After calling mechanics in the area, I learned either they don't work on transmissions or were unable to look at the car. I'm so relieved that I called Bay Auto & Tire! They were accommodating and were able to get the car in later that day. They diagnosed the issue as a dirty transmission sensor, which was a HUGE relief! They were able to fix the problem and I got my car back that same day and it's running beautifully. It was nothing short of a miracle! Bay Auto & Tire were professional and honest. Miguel and his team are fantastic! I first met Miguel at his shop in Morro Bay in 2013 when he installed a new engine in my car. I was referred to him by another mechanic (yes another shop gave him AMAZING reviews). Everything went smooth and he was by far the most adorable mechanic on the Coast. Our son came up from LA area yesterday to visit us while we were camping and to golf. Late at night he went to drive home and realized something was wrong with his car. Since it was late he couldn't get it looked at till morning. He went to one shop and they didn't have space/time but referred our son to next door, which was Bay Auto. They were able to take his car and fix it and have him on the road back home within 4 hours. Cost was reasonable with online prices we could find.
