View from Glory Days during our two hour cruise around the bay
Emma A.

I purchased a Groupon deal for a two hour cruise around the bay and had no problems booking a date online. If you read the instructions on the website, it clearly states which trips you can use the Groupon or Living Social deals on and how to go through payment without being charged again. The reason it takes so long for email responses and phone calls are not returned is because it is one lady who owns the boat and she has one guy helping her on board, but she handles all the admin stuff herself. Please keep that in mind if you don't get the immediate response you are looking for. We found the pier no problem, boarding the boat (which is in great condition) was a quick and seamless process and within minutes we were heading out on the water. We were offered complimentary beverages while on board (hot chocolate, beer, wine, etc). It's not a narrated tour, but if you have questions the staff will answer them. You are really taking the boat ride for the views of Sausalito, San Francisco, Alcatraz and the bridges, not for an info session on the area. We got an absolutely amazing view of the sun setting behind the Golden Gate Bridge which alone made the trip worth it. Just gorgeous. It gets a little chilly, so layer up, bring hats, gloves, etc. A blanket wouldn't be a bad idea either since there are only a few on board. I would definitely do this again at full price.

Always great! Enjoyable, affordable and will keep going over and over and over again. Pam is a great Captain and her boat is amazing.

Directions: There is metered street parking on Bridgeway street for $1/hr and free after 6pm. 3 hr max, and free street parking off the main street with a 2 hr max. Park close to Johnson, cross to the dock side of street. Walk beyond the seafood restaurant (on right) to the end of the parking lot. When you get to the boats go LEFT. The slips are numbered on white blocks. Look for Glory Days in slip 49. It really is not hard to find in the daylight. Cpt. Pam comes and puts out a small Bay Breeze Charters sign right before check in near the dock bathrooms and the Pelican Harbor sign. Bring both the groupon voucher (if you used one) AND your reservation receipt from her website. We paid directly on her website so it was no big deal. The sailing: the boat is comfortable. Bring a warm coat and your own blanket. It can be windy by the bridge. We did the sunset tour on a Friday night and it was AMAZING!!! 5 STARS. Captain Pam and 1st Mate Clay are gracious hosts. Plenty of stories and knowledge of the area. Cpt. Pam takes her time sailing so everyone can take great pictures of multiple views. She puts safety first and has a lifetime of sailing experience. A free beverage comes with the ticket, and there is a bathroom on the boat. Sausalito is also a great town to spend a few hours walking about with plenty of pubs, eateries and shops, plus a view of San Francisco. The ferry stops in downtown too. Highly recommend and will sail again!

Both of our crew members, Pam and Clay were amazing. They were really attentive and excellent hosts. We booked a Sunday sail and the weather was perfect. The mimosas and coffee were made wonderfully. I fully recommend this experience! Just be patient with booking online, it's popular.

Previously, we took the Freda B on the Wildlife Morning Sail in 2024, which was also fantastic. What makes the Freda B special is the crew. The vessel itself is gorgeous--even the "head" is great! From the moment you board and are greeted by the crew, you know you're in good hands. The safety instructions are thorough, and the crew immediately puts you at ease before setting off. Whether you have a clear night or a little fog (like tonight), the skies are beautiful, the Golden Gate Bridge is magical, and San Francisco twinkles in the distance. The crew meets your every need with kindness, excellent service, and genuine interest in you as a passenger. They're also an interesting bunch--just ask them about themselves! The captain of the boat, Rowan, made a difficult experience better. He used his phone and speaker to play the music she had wanted for her funeral. She had also wished to be in the Pacific and have peonies be part of her ceremony. He chose a cove near the Golden Gate Bridge, where the waters of San Francisco Bay mix with those of the Pacific. The currents would take her out to the Pacific, where she hoped to be, recalling her young womanhood in Santa Monica. I didn't want to scatter her ashes--having to lose one more thing of hers, and I also wanted to avoid the risk of the ashes blowing back on us--so I bought a biodegradable container. Rowan offered to set it in the water for me, along with the peonies. I watched it until it sank. Rowan circled the boat long enough to allow me to see it until I was comfortable with leaving. Thank you.

Captain and crew were all friendly and welcoming and the naturalist was informative and excited to share her vast knowledge and experience. The crew intentionally included young people on board with raising the sails and such. Fun for them, and honestly fun for us to watch them learn through hands on experience. They serve up lots of beverage options during the trip, both with and sans alcohol. We went in early September and the weather was absolutely perfect. A bit chilly at first, which is to be expected, although we were able to shed a layer about halfway through. In addition to the overall gorgeousness of the Bay, we also saw lots of wildlife, mostly birds and harbour porpoises. The docking location is perfect, with nearby public parking, and lots of restaurant options if you plan to grab a bite to eat before or after your excursion. This is definitely a fun experience for both locals and visitors and something we will happily book again.
