3/21/2026 The bartender/Owner who would not give me her Name. To start she was very rude and confrontational. The problem started with a paper jam on the Video poker machine. We notified the bartender/Owner that the machine had a problem. She came to fix the problem but we got NO ticket returned as she walked away. So i mentioned to her we had money in the machine. She then asked me and my partner the exact amount owed. We both said we couldn't remember the exact amount after the machine malfunctioned. Sorry I asked if she could look at her machine/ transactions. We both tried to guess the exact amount and it wasn't what the Owner/bartender wanted to hear. She begins to start yelling and pointing her fingers in my FACE saying that was what the last person said? The Owner/CUSTOMER'S ARE YELLING TO GET OUT... CLAIMING we are stealing from her. The machine failed is the problem but the owner/bartender didn't deal with this situation correctly. I've could have returned the next day until the situation was fixed. The bartender/Owner continued yelling calling me name's that are not appropriate so I started to do the same as walking OUT. I'm from Oregon visiting like we do every year. This was the worst experience. I hope the OWNER/ BARTENDER finds more hope and patience to sever her customer's and communicate better between her community. read more

This place is great! I come here every time I visit Newport! This is a cash only no frills dive bar. I had to instruct the bartender how to make a paloma, and this didn't bother me the slightest bit. Nearly 2 years ago I decided to move to Newport from Portland. One of the first places I started frequenting was the Bay Haven. I came in originally with my gay best friend and we weren't sure how accepting they would be. We were from the city and this is a small town. They welcomed us with open arms. My bestie has since moved to the east coast but my moving here has been the best decision ever. I've never met a more open and accepting group of people. They even loved.my dog Doc Holliday who has became a fixture here until his death almost a year ago. They have become my Newport family. Karaoke Thursday through Saturday is the best and the Sunday Jam is my favorite time to come in. Everyone is dancing, laughing, and loving each other. Plus it's the cheapest bar in town. I've always been a dive bar girl and it doesn't get much better than this. read more

I will never be visiting this establishment again. Hopefully the bar tender was having a bad day as no patron should ever be yelled at for a misunderstanding about a water bottle, unprofessional at best. Never in my life have I had a grown woman reprimanded me about drinking water and raise her voice. I'm sure she had a terrible day but keep that stuff at home if you have job that serves people. That was embarrassing, I have been coming here for years bringing family and friends and will never step foot in there again on account of how disrespectful that woman was. Not sure how a business believes it's ok to treat patrons like that but I am good thank you and will not be partaking in that ever again. read more

This is another place that was recommended to us while we were at the Lincoln County Fair (7/1). So we hopped in and gave it a try. I had their cider on tap and of course the husband had the IPA. This is more of a local spot and a bit of a dive bar, but do have karaoke in the evenings, we just got their a little too early for that. They also don't serve food, but many brought in their own (so keep that in mind, you can bring your own food) and some from a local pizza place. Which l hope we get to check out while we are in town. So if you're looking for something more local, this is a good place to start. read more

Waiting for a table at a local restaurant, we decided to take a walk down the street and grab some beers while we waited. Hopped in about 6:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. The place was pretty empty save for a couple locals smoking out the front door. Local fishermen, probably just getting off work and heading for a pint. Bartender was friendly, willing to let us take a couple sample sips while figuring out our pints, and generally happy to please. The beer was as expected (I had a Rogue Dead Guy Ale which tasted EXACTLY like Rogue Dead Guy Ale), others had different selections including a rump-kicking pint of Maibock. Four of us in and out for $12, such a deal. Decent place. I may come back next time I'm on the coast and see if I can catch some of their live entertainment. read more

OMG.....I can not believe the way my wife and I were treated in this establishment. First things first. So yesterday 3/19/19 was my wife's birthday and we decided to go to the coast and celebrate. We entered the Bay Haven Inn and ordered her birthday drink and then preceded out back where the designated smoking area is for cigarettes and the like(vapes). We grabbed a seat and started talking with some of the people smoking cigarettes outside, we started vaping our vapes which is totally legal anywhere u can smoke cigarettes unless visibly posted(which it wasn't), at about 10 minutes the bartender tells my wife she can not vape here because it is illegal...I thought she was confused and thought it was marijuana, I explained to her what it was and how its just a like a cigarette but safer. She then preceded to threaten to kick us out. Ok, now i'm alittle flustered because now i'm being treated like a criminal. The whole time i'm discussing this with the bartender I didn't vape, I waited. She then decided it was easier to just kick us out, mind you I just paid for an overly expensive drink for my wife. So my wife downs her drink and we leave. I wanted this to be a fun birthday for my wife, now thanks to the BAY HAVEN INN I'm not even interested in going to Newport any time soon, Thanks for ruining my wife's birthday. Locals welcome you in. 3-6or 7:00 on sundays these locals bring a great sound! Heard music start up from across the street was planning to roll out of town stayed another 3 hours! Best dive bar in the world!!! In my opinion that is. We went to bay haven for the first time last year on vacation and were so looking forward to coming back this year on our trip. The bar did not dissapoint!! The people there are all very friendly and the bar tenders are super nice. They have great deals on drinks, like crazy cheap!! I think at happy hour the beers were 1.75, and that's for darn good beer!! Not sure about the other stuff but people seemed to be drinking it all up so it must have been a decent deal. Back when fishing was booming, in the 80's this was the fishermans bar. Well, maybe I should say the deck hands bar. This is where we all met after offload, on the weekends if the bar was breaking, or any other time. In the summer someone would more than not have a salmon on the BBQ, or maybe some dungies, or who knows. Have some beers, play some horse shoes, chase some tourist gals who would hear the music and come in and dance. On the wall behind the stage, we used to call the dead wall, all the guys that had gone down had pictures there. They're in the memorial now. I have to bless the new owners for not taking down all the stuff that had been put up over decades. All the boat pictures, carvings, people names, other stuff still hanging on the walls. It would have killed anyone in our community to see all of that go away, but it's still all here. They don't have any kind of food to speak of, burgers etc. but they pour great drinks and treat the locals and well as the non locals good. The fleet has shrunk and the fishing is not even close to what it used to be, commercial or the tour boats for bottom fish etc, but the Haven is still going and still a great place to go on an afternoon. You can hear some good stories here if your willing to buy one of the fishermen a brew or two. read more

A perfect Sunday afternoon...great selection of brews on tap all at happy hour prices, NFL playoffs on TV with the sound turned off because local musicians were having their weekly jam. Great tunes. Definitely a locals bar but nearly everyone in the place initiated a conversation with us. I felt like I was home at my own pub with friends.
