Loved it here. Just our vibe, Clean, casual, comfortable dive'ish bar with many TV's- showing a variety of sports, baseball, soccer NASCAR, golf and my favorite, rodeo- Cowboy Channel. You don't see it too often in the PNW bar scene. Fantastic service. Lots of seating. Comfortable. Large selection of Beer, a couple ciders and a full array of liquor for our favorite concoction. Awesome history & location on the Bay. As ample as parking can be which still means good luck if it's summer season on the weekend. Free lots and pay street parking within a stones throw from the front door. Food-,We only had cheese curds to eat but watched the burgers and chicken sandwiches being prepared. They looked delish. Next time we will get a loaded burger with bacon, egg and the lovely green leaf lettuce, bright red tomato we saw. Talking to a guy on his phone leaning over ignoring people. I commented is there a bartender in the building he said it was him. He was busy doing something on his phone. Rude. Visited on a Saturday evening and loved it. Great atmosphere with a great seating arrangement to watch your favorite game or chat with friends. The service was great, and the food was excellent as well as inexpensive. Loved that most the noise was just from people having a great time and not from loud music. Great service and great food! We came for a late dinner and got a corona, blue moon, the buffalo and barbecue wings, and cheese curds. The cheese curds came with a side of marinara and I was surprised with the large portions! Super delicious! Wings came with sauce side and celery. I'm picky with my wings and I thought the wings were great! Our waitress was kind and the ambiance was welcoming and laid back. Plenty of seating and even games. Awesome bar in Newport! Great burgers!! We're in town for the weekend and after a long drive we picked a random spot online for pick up & tonight it was Barge Inn Tavern to-go. My husband went and picked it up and for the super reasonable prices I was hesitant what kind of food would arrive. These burgers are delicious! Cooked to perfection, I mean GOOD burgers. Everything was perfect & the beer batter fries are addictive. Will definitely eat here again! read more

Came on Sunday to watch a football game and was told that they would put my game on when it came on. After the game started I was told they would no longer be able to put my game on. A huge waste of time. If you're looking to watch football in Newport, Szabo's is your best bet. At least they know what TV which game will be on in advance. The food was good. I got the chicken wrap, it was good. Someone else in my party got the Rueben sandwich, and she wasn't impressed. 2 others got burgers and they both liked them. My husband got an old fashioned, and he said it needed a little more sweetness in it. He did tell the bartender. My raspberry margarita was good. All in all it was a decent bar. Service was good. We had a pleasant Christmas Eve breakfast here. The whole place had a very small town everyone-knows-everyone feel even being right along the Main Street which gave it a nice vibe for us. Food was nothing crazy but hit the spot. The bartender/server was very nice. read more

In Newport, you have 4 or 5 terrible options for dive bars. And one good one. This is the one good one. I mean great one. Neon beer signs, sassy bartenders, (but attentive ones that will actually take your order), sports on the TV, all the classic dive bar stuff. Really good pub food. Nothing fancy, just classic sandwiches, burgers and deep fried appetizers. But all tasty, served with a smile and quickly. Just skip every other bar and go here for a good time. read more

This place caters to three classes of people. I believe I fall into the riff-raff category. This is a dive bar frequented by commercial fishermen. You know, real men who work hard at real jobs that most people (like me) wouldn't last five minutes at. So if you come in with a self-important attitude you may find the experience not to your liking. And if you get sassy with the wait staff, you definitely will not enjoy your visit. These girls and cooks work very hard for not much money. It's a tough job that is probably too difficult for you to do. If you are appreciative, friendly and polite to them, they will knock themselves out to serve you. But if you give them attitude, things may not work out so well for you. Love this little place. Decent food although I usually grab seafood elsewhere. I go there mostly to relax after walking around and have a cold brew or two. It's a tavern, right? Nothing fancy. Definitely not pretentious. You'll get a good value and you'll be treated well if you don't come off like an entitled child. If you want to be pampered there's a place just down the street where you won't get much change from a Benjie that will be happy to take your dough. read more

Came late (9:10pm) given literally no restaurant was open after 8pm in Waldport & only a few places are open in Newport after 9pm. My husband found this bar on Yelp & we decided to try it. Upon parking, we spoke with a lady outside who happened to be one of the bartenders. She assured us they were open then smilingly "warned" us that it was a bit crazy inside as "half the town was celebrating someone's 70th." It was lively but not rowdy & had a happy vibe, which we could appreciate. Our food came out quickly. The burger was ok but the drinks were good, the curly fries were great, & per my husband, the wings with Asian sauce were tasty. We appreciated Jenny's friendly demeanor & great service. Alex & Victor were fast, professional cooks who were kind and easy to talk to. The bar itself was warm & welcoming, with good lighting & a plethora of giant TVs for your viewing pleasure. We were a little sad when it seemed like this place didn't weather the storm that was COVID wreaking havoc on small businesses. We were thrilled to hear it was purchased by the owners of Clearwater across the street. After it got a solid polishing/clean/redo - it still has that vibe it did before. While they definitely redecorated it still looks and feels like the old bar. Laid back, a great place to grab a beer or a shot but just a little cleaner! The waitresses are great and the selection of drinks is good too. We've not eaten here but the food looks good anytime it comes past our table. We've been coming to Newport for 10 years, and every time we say we need to try this place, but it looks a little intimidating! We finally went, and found a parking spot on the side of the building. Parking can be a real challenge, so we felt fortunate. Inside was unexpected, really nice, like upscale dive bar! Service was very good, waitress very friendly. We sat at one of the high top tables. Lots of local workers from the docks. We ordered the side salad, which was huge, not a lot going on. Also got the bilge burger, chowder and tots. Really decent food. read more
