And the reception was perfection in every selection. The wait staff treated us so well and bartenders Sydney, Cathy & Dom who made sure our champagne was always topped off. Impeccable lighting from afternoon bbq to ceremony and a beautiful reception. Thank you Greencrest for such a high quality experience.

Located north of Battle Creek…read morein what feels like the middle of nowhere, you turn down a short drive that takes you back into a forest and suddenly a stately manor with beautiful grounds appears. I honestly felt like I walked through a wardrobe into a Narnia world. The small sign at the drive was a bit tough to see, so as your map tells you you're close, slow down and look for the Bed and Breakfast sign. The vibe here is full on beautiful Pinterest, French countryside garden chateau. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to see, from the outdoor pavilion to the stately rooms inside. The ivy covered buildings and gardens bursting with blooms are great backdrops for any photos. The wedding I attended was on a super hot, sunny June day, but there were plenty of amenities provided to guests to alleviate the heat: shade parasols, handheld electric fans, folding fans, and plenty of cold water. This was such a thoughtful touch and really helped make guests comfortable. The mansion in the background was a stunning view for the short but sweet ceremony. Once the ceremony concluded, we were greeted by staff members with water and wine and were directed to a courtyard for hors d'oeuvres and an outdoor bar. There were areas of shade from trees and umbrellas, which was a nice reprieve from the sun. The food was all perfectly arranged and the bacon wrapped date I had was a delicious sweet and savory bite! Molly and Jenn were pouring drinks with big smiles despite the heat. We were ushered into the main reception area -- a beautiful, airy, open pavilion -- by a tinkling dinner bell! Dinner was delicious and all staff members I interacted with were incredibly polite and professional. I was really blown away by the details and care put into this celebration at this amazing venue! Hopefully I can attend another wedding there someday. If you need a beautiful place to get married, look no further than Greencrest Manor.

However, no true British chippy would serve battered and shaped filets for fish & chips -- that was disappointing. I expected an authentic full-size, flakey cod or haddock stretched across a bed of chips with bits of crunchy batter everywhere. The filets were crispy and tasty, but not genuine English fish & chips. Our server was young and inexperienced (didn't know what a pale ale or IPA was), but was very attentive and cheerful. An older gentleman, who may have been the bartender, came to our table and gave us an oral history of the building, its owners and various quirks. The only drawback was all the stairs. It's not ADA accessible getting to and from the pub, where we had our reservations. There was a full flight of stairs to go down from the main floor. It was recommended that we leave through the back door to avoid the stair case. Outside, on the terrace, there were some low steps and no handrail to get to the path leading to the parking lot. No one using a wheelchair or walker can access the pub. The building itself, the decor, and outside grounds are beautiful. The gardens are lovely.

This place is so beautiful, majestic, and some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered! We went to the pub side of the restaurant and it was small but also the feel of walking into a pub in England! The staff was so courteous, knowledgeable, and on it!! I ordered the prime rib dinner and my friend ordered the fish and chips. You really felt like you were in England enjoying the amazing food! We opted out on desserts (we had dessert at the hotel waiting for us). I would highly recommend this place if you're passing through. Also you can walk the grounds, we did and we got to watch an outside wedding - beautiful. Highly recommend.
