So as some of you may know, I am a disabled US Navy Submarine Service veteran. The Veterans Administration wanted me to take a Sleep Study so they sent me to Bay City Sleep Clinic (VA Contractor) at 50 Oak Ln, Mountain View, CA 94040. Prior to my visit, I received several calls and emails going over what to expect. The person calling me was polite, friendly, and professional. I was told to call if I had any questions. I did check out some of the poorer reviews prior to my arrival and all I can say some of the issues were unbelievable. There were plenty of great ones also. So this review is based on my experience. I arrived at 9:30 PM for the overnight study. I noted how clean the office and bedrooms were. The linen on the beds were spotless. The restroom was really clean. I really liked the display of CPAP masks and the different styles. The air inside the building was fresh and clean, as if it was going through a high end filter. The decor was nice and welcoming. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the Sleep Tech, Mr. Janik, who was very friendly, gave me a lot of paperwork to fill out which asked how I felt (COVID) and my sleep habits. He was also working with a earlier customer. About the time I finished the paperwork, Mr. Janik was ready to assist me. He went over everything, covering the procedure and what to expect. He even covered restroom options, as I use it alot. The hook up of the wires and sensors went well. He answered more questions such as sleeping positions. The Sleep Study finally began. He told me he would wake me between 6:00-6:30 AM. The bed and pillows were super comfortable (I got to get me those), and the room was quiet. I had a touch lamp and the wires were routed so not to interfere with me. The only negative thing was the air temperature was a bit colder than I liked-but not unbearable. My sleep was very poor (reason I was there) but the night went fast. At 6:15 AM Mr. Janik woke me up, as promised. He disconnected me from the the wires and sensors, told me it went well-no issues on monitoring me or the Sleep Study (Yeah). I said my goodbyes and hopefully can use Bay City Clinic for future needs, if the VA will allow me. To me, my whole experience was perfect and worth 10 Stars, but Yelp only allows me to give 5 Stars. read more

I came here as part of a research study and I got a very good impression. I had a sleep study in the past and the room wasn't nearly as comfortable as this one. The bed and pillows were so cozy, almost better than my own! My sleep technician was very knowledgeable, friendly and made me feel at ease throughout my experience. I took my 9 year old son here to have a sleep study performed as we suspect he has sleep apnea. The person in charge had us wait at the front counter for about 15 to 20 minutes before he handed us the paperwork. Okay, not a big deal. Then after connected my son up to several dozen sensors he told us he would be in at 6am sharp to remove everything. The next morning, 6am passes, then 6:30 passes. At 7am I got out of the room and walked around to find no person there. Then, I hear snoring from the room next door. I opened the door and he was asleep in one of the beds. I had to wake him up to finish the study. The worst part is they never sent the results to kaiser. We have left at least 6 voice mails and they will not return our calls. It was a huge waste of time and now I have to take my son to Kaiser to have the sleep study properly performed. Thank you for nothing. read more

I was referred here by Kaiser with the promise I would only pay my Kaiser co-pay and deductible. Instead I was told I had to sign their payment agreement which was inconsistent with the agreement I/they have with Kaiser. I refused to sign and left the facility but they had already taken and charged my credit card a $75 copay. As I was leaving the facility, the "owner" who was on the phone with the representative at the facility said the charge would be cancelled. It wasn't. I called the phone number listed on the charge with my credit card. No response. I have opened a dispute with my credit card bank. Ultimately, no services were provided and I did NOT agree to your payment requirements as I did not sign them. You have no right to charge me anything. Terrible business practices. read more

People who leave 4-star or 5-star reviews should buy lottery tickets. It is hard for me to believe my 1-star experience is isolated. Why so? I've dealt with many service organizations in my life. Bay Sleep Clinic's operations come closes to being shady. 1. Had trouble paying the bills online. Their website looks like from old Windows computer. It doesn't look secure. So I called the billing team to pay over the phone. I kid you not. You have to leave your name and phone number so they can call you within 7 business days!?? 2. They charge your insurance liberally. And then they turn around bill you high prices from the CPAP parts. You can buy directly online for much cheaper. 3. They are great about calling you proactively and selling you parts according to the suggested time interval. This is the only good thing I can say about them. read more

Bay Sleep is very easy to work with. From their reps over the phone contacting us to find the nearest location to rescheduling us to better fit our schedule. I commend Amanda of Bay Sleep for very so flexible with us and calling us for any pertinent information and our appointment reminder. At my son's sleep study, our technician was Sam. He is a nice tech, knows how to deal with grade school kids, kept us informed with the process and ensured everything was done in a timely manner. Not sure why bay sleep has a lot of bad reviews, probably hooligans who do not know how to follow directions, or their lack of sleep (pun intended) is clouding their judgement. They were able to walk me through the CPAP selection process and help me pick the latest and greatest CPAP device. I was hesitant because of how clunky the old devices were, but the newest ones are super effective and comfortable. I just wanted to say that last night I experienced one of the best nights of sound sleep in a long time. Thanks to your professional staff namely Dr Yuen for her thorough explanation and expert advice as well as the young lady who helped me try out the new CPAP machines and all different types of masks so patiently and skillfully. She even allowed me to lay down on one of the beds so I could see how it would really feel at night and went out of her way to adjust my old CPAP so I could have a backup when needed. She was awesome. You have no idea how bad I used to dread going to bed every night knowing I wouldn't get a good nights sleep, keeping my wife awake all night snoring, and waking up more tired than when I went to bed. This effected everything in my life. Not being able to breath well all night and getting enough Oxygen to my brain, waking up with the driest mouth, not remembering dreams, having no energy or concentration at work, falling sleep in the movie theaters, behind the wheel, in meetings, losing short term memory, and so many other serious issues was both embarrassing and painful. I felt like being in a prison for all these years. Now I can awake refreshed and full of energy without any of these horrible symptoms. Thank you for giving my life back to me. read more

I have been their patient for the last 2 years. And I believe no other sleep clinic could have helped me as much. Diana is super helpful in providing support and following up on the CPAP supplies. Dr. Yuen is very knowledgable. She had visited me whenever I had any sleep-related health issues. Her pieces of advice have been super helpful and applicable. Overall, I can confidently say that having done the sleep study here and using their advice on using the CPAP has been one of the best things that I have ever done because it has really increased the level of my energy throughout the day and has also equipped me with more knowledge about my sleep habits. I have been recommending to all my friends to try the sleep study here. Horrible operation. Kaiser referred me to them because Kaiser did not have open slots for their own sleep clinic. Bay Sleep called me and set me up for last night at Mountain View. I asked specific questions about what to bring. Their employee told me to bring only my Kaiser card and ID, nothing else. However, when I arrived I was told Bay Sleep does not give out sleep medication and there is no way I can do a sleep study without it. All they had to do was tell me this and I would have brought my own sleep medication. As a result, a wasted night 45 minutes from home. I had this planned out, but I will never go back and do anything with this poorly run operation. read more

Poor and Unprofessional! You deserve no stars! Don't trust them when saying we accept your insurance and you are covered! I am paying out of my pocket just because I trusted them when they checked with my insurance before providing service but apparently they didn't tell the truth that Cigna insurance doesn't even have any contract with them since 2009, so now I have to pay for their fault. read more

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE SPENDING HOURS ON THE PHONE OVER HUGE BILLS THEY SEND YOU My health is very poor and due to these folks, coupled with the difficulty to get a new Dr, I haven't been able to see a sleep Dr for 6 months. So if you're not doing well, don't risk your health going here. having to call the nat/regional call center instead of this actual location is very, very annoying. the admin staff is meh as well. you have to ask rather than them do their job, probably because Corporate America only pays meager wages so I don't blame the staff. over a few years this location has left an overall impression on me of "meh" They're not necessarily in your insurance network either. Oh, Bay sleep may be but the Dr you see is not. Cost me more than $100 to find this out the hard way. They never respond to emails and their phone menu system is horrible. So, I've simply stopped going to these people. Support your local doctor not these wanna-be chains. There are other sleep clinics in Saratoga, Los Gatos, Fremont, Oakland, of those few I've become aware of. read more

I have been a CPAP user since 2006 and I have mostly used Bay Sleep Clinic for getting my machine and supplies. Over the years I have gone through 3 power cords and today I finally found out why. I don't typically leave my CPAP machine out on my nightstand before I leave for work. I store it in my nightstand and I typically unplug the power cord from the wall and from the machine. I was told today not to ever unplug the cord from the machine. Bay Sleep Clinic charged me $85.00 for a new cord. I had to drive from San Francisco to Mountain View to get the cord. I called Res Med, the manufacturer of my machine and they said it is not common for a power cord to fail. I feel like Bay Sleep Clinic cares more about collecting money from loyal patients than it does about taking care of their patients. I am going to file a claim for the $85.00 to my Insurance and explain the way I was treated at Bay Sleep Clinic. read more

I got my sleep study done at Bay Sleep Clinic's SF location, and came to their Mountain View location for a consultation and later to get my CPAP machine. Dr. Yuen was outstanding. She explained everything to me in detail, and helped me understand what was going on with my sleep, my breathing during my sleep, and other factors that influence how I feel when I wake up. She helped me come up with a plan to improve my sleep even more, and I am very grateful for her guidance. I felt like she actually cared about my sleep and my health, and she empathized with me and helped me think through a few different scenarios -- very much appreciated. My CPAP experience was also excellent. I walked in, filled out some forms, and one of the techs gave me my CPAP machine. They showed me how to use it, set it up comfortably on my face, and how to maintain it. They took their time to get it set just right on my face, which is important because you want your CPAP mask to be comfortable (since you will be wearing it all night). They answered all my questions, showed me how to pack the CPAP into its carrying case, and I was on my way! Did this during my lunch break. Can't thank the Bay SLeep team enough for this. The whole process, from talking to the schedulers on the phone to follow up calls, appointments, etc. All was pleasant and positive. Anyway I have had a very, very positive experience with the sleep test and the CPAP and I actually look forward to sleeping now! read more

I was very happy with my Dr. Yuen. I found her to be professional and a straight shooter. I don't like to be handled, and I found her to be very easy to work with. You have to understand that people that are giving these reviews, might not be the happiest of people. I am writing my review , 1 year after treatment. I was not happy when I had to get treated. All that I cared about was work and not being bothered by people. Here is the issue, I was sleep deprived. I thought the technicians to be compassionate. Being wired up is not comfortable, and it sucks to sleep somewhere other than your own bed. The results were very transparent. Navigating health care, machines and all that crap is really not the issue of the ​clinic. I do know that they try to get everything through your insurance, but if you have crappy coverage then all they can do is bill you the difference. Prioritize your sleep, and you will be able to deal with a whole lot more than you can deal with now. The silicon valley is sleep deprived, and this clinic can help. Do not make the mistake I made, where I thought I needed the best clinic in the world, so I was put on a 3 month wait list with Stanford. A sleep clinic is analogous to an optometrist. Sleep Doctors do not make enough money at one clinic, so they rotate to different offices on different days. Sleep clinics operate like an optometrist, where they don't make money on the diagnosis, but on the equipment. The equipment is rapidly evolving. I originally got a stay at home CPAP, and six months later I bought a travel CPAP. It is expensive, but its worth it. Long story short, if you have sleep issues, TAKE CARE OF IT. Either here, or somewhere else. If the fancy clinic is not available, go elsewhere. Stop making excuses. Just do it. read more

After reading the reviews, I was a little afraid to come here. But my 12-year-old needed a sleep study, and Kaiser sent us to this location. I was nervous, but thankfully, we had an excellent experience. First, we were greeted by the nurse, Gladys. She was warm and friendly, so that put us more at ease. I filled out paperwork and paid the Kaiser co-pay. The bedroom was well-appointed and clean. My daughter and I had to share a full-size bed, which was fine. Bedding was comfortable and clean. I brought a foldable mattress just in case but there's not a lot of room, and the nurse needs space to work and do checks - in that sense, it's similar to a hospital. There is also a large bathroom. It's unisex but we didn't have to share it with anyone. It was clean and had the basics, enough to get ready for sleep. The nurse explained that she would be affixing 26 wires to various places on my daughter's body. The trickiest was the scalp, as my daughter has long hair. But Glady was patient, kind, and had a great sense of humor, so that again, made us feel a lot more comfortable through the arduous process. It took about an hour to put on all the wires and get everything adjusted and calibrated, and the nurse worked very efficiently throughout. During the night, my daughter woke up because the sensor on her finger was bothering her. Gladys came in and immediately took care of it, finding an alternative sensor that fit her finger better. My daughter was able to go right back to sleep after that, and felt a lot of relief with the sensor change. We both slept soundly through the rest of the night until the nurse woke us up at around 6am, per the schedule. She quickly and painlessly removed all the wires. I filled out one more form, made sure we had our belongings, and we were done! The whole experience was much, much better than we expected, and we are grateful to have had Gladys as our nurse; she's awesome!!! read more

Stressful time for all, obviously. I was super worried I wouldn't be able to get my cpap supplies fulfilled as they were due for an update. Thankfully they have kept staff in place for this even during shelter in place/quarantine orders. I called, requested what I needed, got a confirmation within 2 days that items were shipped. I used Bay Sleep to get set up with a CPAP machine based on a recommendation from my physician. It took over a week to get an appointment. I was told they would call me, but they didn't, so I called them after 4 days. They called back a day later on my home phone, not the cell # I had given them. I've called them about 8 times now during business hours, and I've yet to reach a human. I finally got a call back to schedule an appt. That person was helpful and efficient. At my appt the technician as fairly efficient, but made several mistakes that shouldn't really happen. First, she started to give me the wrong machine until I reminded her I was expecting a specific model recommended by my doctor. Second, she said she would provide a "chin strap" but did not. Third and most disturbing, my prescription was for a range of 5 to 20 on the machine and she left it set at 15 to 20. The office seems to only be open by appt because I've stopped by a few times to try to clear up those last two things but it has always been closed, and, of course, the phone number to the "regional switchboard" is, as noted above, kind of useless. On the plus side, she seemed to do a good job of fitting the mask and showing me how to use the machine. Like most medical places, they didn't say a thing about money, and the insurance explanation of benefits haven't arrived yet, so I can't comment on finances. In the end I improvised a chin strap from an ace bandage and learned to reprogram the machine myself (thanks, internet!). I'd love to hear about a DME (durable medical equipment) company that actually does a decent job... read more

I just received a bill from them for a service date of November 2012. I have called 3 times to discuss with their billing department, whose voicemail says, "All calls will be returned within 1 business day." It's been 2 weeks since my first voicemail and my call has not yet been returned by them. Exceptionally poor record-keeping and billing practices here. So glad I moved on to a new sleep clinic years ago. However, not pleased at all that I still have to deal with them. read more

I had a great experience last night during my sleep study. The clinic looked very professional and modern. I got a reminder call right before I left for my appointment by the technician who wanted to make sure that I knew the exact location as they had recently moved to 50 Oak Ln. in Mountain View. When I got there, the room was perfectly set up and looked very inviting. I had to say that I was a bit nervous as I wasn't sure how I could fall asleep with all the wires on me. But, Jansen (the technician) explained everything to me and was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He had come in before the appointment to get everything set up and took his time when he was getting me ready to make sure the set up was accurate and connections were solid to get good readings during the night. Although his shift was supposed to end at 7:30 am, he hadn't woken me up as he said that he doesn't normally wake patients up in the morning especially on Sundays and allows them to wake up on their own. I didn't leave until 8:00 am and he still had to stay there to clean up for the next patient. That was very nice of him. Despite my nervousness, I was able to sleep and enough data was collected to do my sleep study. If there were a rating higher than five, I would have selected it. My husband who suffers from severe insomnia was referred to this facility. After the first referral appointment they gave him a sleep appointment of tonight. This afternoon at 3 pm they called and informed him that the appointment is cancelled since the referral was for consultation only. My husband had rescheduled multiple things to make this appointment work. This appointment had been scheduled 1 month in advance so calling the day of the appointment such that there was no time to resolve the issue was unacceptable. This should have been identified as an issue weeks in advance. Nurses, doctors keep in mind this is an individual with severe insomnia affecting his health, his heart and his faculties. And now we have to restart the wheel. This is an unacceptable, immoral, unethical behavior by a supposed healthcare organization. Stay away from this company if at all possible. read more

I was very happy with my experience here. The Technician was fantastic and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. While he was wiring me up, he saw that I was a little bit nervous, so he instigated a gentle and warm conversation. Before I knew it I was ready to go to bed! He asked what time I would like to get up and did not press me to get up super early. You would think that it would be weird with all of those wires, but I was allowed to sleep in any position I wanted, and I brought all of my toiletries, so it was like sleeping in my own house!! I definitely recommend this place for all who are thinking about it!! read more
