Catherine Schroeder was the physical therapist assigned to me. She explained things clearly and did a thorough exam to pinpoint the best exercises for improvement. She was very caring and understanding, and explained things clearly. The physical therapy clinic has a gym area as well as hydrotherapy if your clinician determines it is what you need. There isn't much indication of where you should check-in. They only have one therapist here and no receptionist so you really have no idea where to go or what to do upon arrival. They have 2 consultation rooms and that's it. So if the therapist is working on someone, you have no idea whether or not they are there or if they are working with someone. The vibe was awkward and uncomfortable. As I said, I had my evaluation and never looked back.

Aquatic PT - Broken water heater in pool (no warning), dangerous for patients…read more I'd like to say that I have had a great experience at the Boston Sports Medicine location in Davis Square. This review is only for the aquatic PT/Kristen, at the Allston location. I made an appointment for aquatic PT this December. Since it takes me an hour to travel to Allston, I booked a few weeks in advance to get an appointment after work hours. I wasn't told at any time in advance that the pool water heater does not work properly. (Approximately 90 degrees is standard for aquatic PT and the BSM Allston website says that the pool is always kept at 88-90 degrees.) Even directly before I got in the water, Kristen emphasized that the pool was heated. It was clear when I got in the water that it was below room temperature; I would estimate 60 degrees. Seconds later, after I got in the water and commented on the cold temperature, Kristen said that the pool doesn't heat fully in winter and other patients regularly bring long sleeved shirts to wear in the pool. Kristen told me the heat was set to 92. She said she turned it up at my request, but the water remained extremely cold. I wish I had been told about this issue when making the appointment as I would never have come in to begin with. The next day I woke up with very painful muscle spasms that have not alleviated days later. I made calls to other physical therapists the next day, but I will now have to wait over a month to get an aquatic PT appointment elsewhere. The PT said she had other aquatic therapy patients who have the same muscular concern I came in for, so I thought it would be safe to stay in the pool despite the discomfort. I told her how cold it was and my concerns of potential muscle spasms, and I was shivering intensely and she didn't seem to care. She didn't check how cold the water felt at any point, or express any compassion. I'm so upset by how I was treated. I am struggling greatly with the resulting spasms, which would have been entirely preventable if BSM Allston had been honest and straightforward about their facilities. They absolutely should not be offering aquatic PT under these conditions, let alone without telling patients until they're in the pool.

She doesn't rush me, but doesn't let me slack either. You can tell she's knowledgeable. I feel very confident being treated by her. This is the only place around here with Aquatic therapy (1 person pool with treadmill). Last place I went to was in Waltham in a shared pool, where the kids are jumping over you. I certainly appreciate this aquatic therapy in a private setting. If you are in need of PT, certainly give this place a try! Ask for Aisling or any of the wonderful staff, I have also worked with Caylie (spelling?) Who's also awesome. They have plenty of free parking as well.

Most of the physical therapy clinics I had visited were truly not even clinics, most of them just appeared to have a small room in a local gym with personnel that did not appear to be too professional. This is my second time returning here due to a an ankle injury I had from playing basketball. As much as I hate the recovery period, I am extremely happy to have found George, who is by far an amazing therapist. Believe me when I say "he knows what his doing". As a person, he is extremely welcoming on the phone (before I met him) and of course even a more welcoming attitude in person once I did meet him. With his great experience, you can tell after just a few visits that he is great at what he does. Over time, I have seen patients as young as 13 all the way till patients in there 70's if not more. As a patient, I am very comfortable and I found his clinic to be very welcoming as well. during the therapy, he surely keeps an up beat conversation with you and keeps you entertained in order to distract you from any sort of pain(therapy) which I find extremely helpful. The first injury I had from a shoulder dislocation required 3 months of constant therapy and almost a year later, I can say that I am extremely happy with the results. Maegen has helped me through a number of nagging body issues, and now I just keep her bookings page…read morelinked on the home screen of my phone so I can book whenever I'm noticing something about to become a problem. As a forty-something probably-too-sedentary female body owner, it's great that I can talk to Maegen about anything body related. Her office was where I first learned that my knee, hip, and back pain would actually improve if I rolled out my IT band more. I learned that one of the best predictors of falls as people get older is challenges with balance, so we included some exercises for strength and balance to help distribute weight better during movement. My son was also having challenges with pain and fatigue while walking. She worked with him, chatting about Minecraft or whatever he was interested in talking about, and gave us some exercises that are easy for him to do. I haven't heard any more complaints. I also learned that PT in Massachusetts doesn't need a referral, so while her practice doesn't process insurance claims with your insurance company, her documentation is great, and I have had every single claim to my policy that covers out-of-network providers approved on the first try (YMMV based on your insurance). So while I love my PCP, if it's anything remotely muscle or movement related, I just go straight to Maegen. Maegan offers a number of methods, including massage, dry needling, traditional PT, and whatever muscle-whisperer magic she does in between. It's all very easy but works so well. Maegen is super motivating, and Union Square PT is a treasure of Union Square.
