I have always had excellent care and training when I have had need of physical therapy. I always go to the Kennedy Brothers. Over the years, I have preferred this location because there is more than enough free parking. Appointments start and end on time. You can call and reschedule if you need to but you are encouraged to honor your healing and needs and show up to your appointment. I can take the workout I do on site and immediately do it at home. Josh is a condescending, arrogant, confrontational ass and doesn't listen. Little empathy. He scolded me like a child on two occasions. His needs and the crowded office comes first. Same routines, little consultation. Staff of interns/employees are friendly, who I sense are bullied by Josh. If you must go there, choose Matt, as your therapist, who is as talented, friendly and knowledgable without the pissed off attitude exhibited by Josh. It is bad enough that patients come because of their pain and need to recover. The last thing we need it poor attitude and condescension. Management should have a serious talk with Josh and explain that service with a smile and gratitude are the traits that will bring people back. I am not this first person who feels this way. Pay attention to the poor reviews. I scheduled an appointment. A half hour later he still hadn't honored my scheduled time and was still "working" with several other clients who apparently all had overlapping appointments. When I asked when I might see him, he said he doesn't have 1:1 appointments and when he was ready he'd come to see me. (What's the purpose of an appointment then and why don't they explain when they tell you you need to make an appointment (and you make said appointment) that it's only a request and there's no guarantee it will be honored?) Absolutely no respect for his clients' time. There were two other what seemed to be employees in the office but they didn't seem to be doing anything. This business model seems to be more of a money grab than client focused. I left. And unless you're retired or have endless free time to wait around and hope he'll fit your "appointment" in, I would look for a different practice. read more

I worked with Kennedy Bros in Watertown for nearly 8 months to recover from rotator cuff surgery. Josh was my primary therapist with Chris helping out as needed. Ignoring the fact that I was in pain and suffered from a lot of discomfort, this couldn't have been a better experience. Josh is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He was persistent in moving me forward and constantly extending my range of motion and strengthening exercises so that there was slow but consistent improvement. When, midway through the recovery period, I got frozen shoulder, he advised against the surgeon's suggestion of a steroid injection and instead told me to wait it out and gave me specific instructions on exercises to do that wouldn't exacerbate the situation. Sure enough, shortly thereafter, things started to improve and I was back on track. Josh knew when to push and when to take it easy on me. And was always on top of my condition. I can't thank Josh and the whole Kennedy Bros team enough for helping me return to full - pain-free - range of motion and possibly greater strength then before the accident. read more

Now that I go to a different physical therapy company, I can see how awful Kennedy Brothers in Watertown was. First, their patient treatment model is terrible. You spend just a few minutes with the therapist; the rest of the time, you are doing exercises under the supervision of staffers. You are in one big open room with everyone else, no curtains, no privacy. This allows for each therapist to be "seeing" around five patients at one time, great for billing purposes, I suspect. At the place I go to now, my therapist stays with me for the entire session in a private area (curtain). She helps me do the exercises, stretches me, massages me, talks to me the whole time. Secondly, I agree with the comments of another reviewer---Josh is a condescending prick. He also scolded me (doesn't feel good at the age of 68), and now I wish I had told him off and walked out. I was excited to start my healing process and had called in to receive treatment. I had broken my ankle six weeks before and had just joined the new gym as part of my recovery. I had questions about why it would take almost 2 weeks to see someone. I was not looking for a fight, I just wanted to understand how it all worked. I was transferred to Josh who was immediately aggressive, dismissive and confrontational. I was told they were too busy and that I should have called sooner if I expected to see someone. His tone was aggressive and upsetting. Not the kind of person you would want to guide you through a recovery. I'm currently trying to cancel my membership. I made a huge mistake engaging this group. I wish you supportive happy healing somewhere else. read more

This place works a bit differently than i have experienced. ( i have been to two other physical therapy places) They are all very nice. There is one Physical therapist on and a whole bunch of almost grads in the physical therapy field. they are usually doing their clinicals from northeastern etc. everyone that goes here seems to like it, as do i. I just feel like i should be stretched more than 15 mins per appointment. Seeing as only the certified therapists can actually stretch you they make there rounds from patient to patient and also tell the trained helpers what to do with us in the mean time. My injury unfortunately greatly reduced the movement of my elbow, so I in particular benefit the most from being stretched as other injuries need less concentration on gaining movement. This is why i think i need to be stretched a bit more ( as well as my surgeon saying so). Other places i have been were me sitting the physical therapist for 45-50 minutes constantly being stretched. ok that's it. I like this place but need more stretching but they have done a good job getting me quite a few degrees of movement back. read more

When I was scoping out PT places, I asked a few basic questions. One of them was the ratio of therapists to patients. Kennedy Brother's response was 6-7:1, which is kind of ridiculous. I wouldn't want to do my thing and sit on my thumb waiting for them to finish with one of the six people in front of me. read more

My first appointment was an evaluation with Kim and I was very impressed but nobody explained to me that my next appointments (made with Kim) would be with an 'assistant.' The guy who runs KBPT at the Watertown site is Josh Bachand, and he's everything you could want in a physical therapist: experienced, knowledgeable, smart, confident, and good-natured. He treats everyone who walks through the door with respect and is always the consummate professional. An excellent communicator, Josh's confidence enables him to be directive but importantly, he is also highly collaborative in working with each patient to craft the best treatment regimen at each stage of the recovery process. Josh is not the kind of PT who asks where it hurts and then focuses just on that area. Instead, when Josh performs his evaluation of you in your very first visit, he's thinking more holistically in terms of what else about your body structure/posture could be exacerbating your condition or indeed causing it in the first place. Josh is blessed with the gift of "feel" when doing deep tissue work on the affected area - i.e., he's able to get a good read on the state of your soft tissue (e.g., more inflamed or tighter than usual) at the same that he's getting in deep to break up adhesions and maximize the therapeutic benefit of the session (and he does have the hand strength to go as deep as he needs). Lastly, I've noticed that the ladies love Josh, no doubt because of his good looks and impressive physique, but also because he really listens and is capable of having a few minutes of warm, friendly conversation about almost anything. In the end, though, Josh is all about patient care, and he always brings the conversation back to the business of getting you over your injury or through your post-surgical rehab as quickly and as safely as possible. Do not go here for your physical therapy !! While the staff is nice, you do not get personalized attention from the actual physical therapist. (and they usually have only one actual physical therapist present.) They overbook clients and in fact you end up spending most of your time waiting to be seen. They let the PT aides do most of the work, with varying degrees of skill. My last appointment was at 7pm and by 8:20pm I had yet to be seen by the actual therapist, and there were 5 people ahead of me waiting to be be stretched out- unbelievable. I agree with the other reviewer. The staff is very friendly but the fact that there is only one real therapist present to serve a room full of patients is unacceptable. The first time I waited 30 minutes for her and I chalked that up to them having a rough day. The second time the exact same thing happened and I got up and walked out. Exercises are great and all but the personal attention and stretching of a trained therapist is what I was there for and to wait around all afternoon for 15 minutes of her time doesn't cut it. read more
