I'm really enjoying living here. The staff is wonderful, shout out to Kalyani, Lily, David and Victor! If I need anything they are on it right away. And they have free Community get togethers. I considered moving to this property years ago and felt it was too far away from my children's activities when they were still young now that they're older I have more opportunity in my life to move to a place that feels right for me. When I reached out to explore a possibility of moving in, I began with a tour which confirmed my desire to move there. I was met with a staff member that was kind share her knowledge of the space in place give details around the financials, which made it feel possible for me to find a way to make Bay Tree my next home. There was nothing available yet, but was put on a waitlist and notified right away when a space became available. We worked through the details of the financials and how to become approved. I had questions along the process and was met with patients and follow up to make sure that everything went smooth so that I could make my dream into reality. I'm moving in in a few weeks and looking so forward to a fresh start in this new community. read more

First month at Bay Tree and so far so good, working with the leasing office was great. Some challenges with registration system but hey, it's software with features so things go wrong from time to time. Issue was fixed and was able to apply online. Minus stars: Applied in Dec 2023: paid all fees--withdrew applications. Received a full refund. March 1, 2024 received yet another request for more funds. Never moved in, received a full refund on the funds I deposited via their clumsy payment app, local and remote management pass the buck and dont resolve anything. Recommend Lyon Living check your "Customer Care" recordings. Your Central Billing in Everett, WA personnel claimed they "cannot do anything" and have stated that they "do not want to go "round-and-round" on this topic:  As Lyon Living protocol requires that your "local business front" such as Massol Los Gatos representatives, can only drive Central Billing to take actions.  And since you pay them them not to account for monies deposited and later fully refunded months ago ( in Dec-Jan) to potential future renters, obviously your bookkeepers have no tools documenting their past activities and thus have not provided any documentation to you @ Everett Central Billing--and you are telling me I have to provided you with my personal bank statements about Lyon Living bookkeeping?   I don't work for you.  Ask the people that you pay.  Get printouts of your "records" since you Lyon Living own the payment app for your rentals across the board. read more

Looked at many different private homes and complexes and made the decision to live here 5 months ago. Will say, the reviews are not great on any platform, but after calling and talking to Tascha (the property manager) it helped to appease any reservations we had. We met with her and toured the property (beautiful property with families, lots of landscaping) and loved the spacious balconies. We decided to give this property a chance as it's close enough for my partner to walk to work and easy for me to commute to light rail. Past 5 months have been pretty good. Even the property maintenance has been great. Victor and David have both been helpful with us setting up our air conditioner or helping with a quick fix of something I needed. I haven't experienced anything negative as of yet, and don't anticipate it. We came from high rise living downtown San Jose at One south market and it was terrible. Will continue to see how it goes and give an update in next 6 months or so if anything goes awry:-) read more

Hi we live in the bay tree apartments for the past 3 years. And thankfully we moved out about 3 months ago.. The building is from the 50's, no insulation and no air conditioning. The spring and summer months are dreadful. So many days we had to leave the apartment because it was so hot. If you don't believe me do yourself a favor and schedule a visit around 3:00 or 4:00 pm on the afternoon.. You will find out how hot it is. All apartments located on the 2nd floor are very hot in the spring and summer. On top of that they ask you to sign a letter acknowledging that there are traces of asbestos in the building. I would not recommend these rentals. read more

We moved into one of the Bay Tree apartments just over a month ago, and so far we've been very happy with our choice. The location is ideal, with a park around the corner and just a short walks from the shops, restaurants and cafés in downtown Los Gatos. The apartment is, modern, quiet and very light. The amenities (pool, garden & bbq area) are nice too and well maintained. We moved here from overseas, and one of the big advantages for us has been how helpful Tascha from the management team has been. She has been available to lend a hand with things such as setting up our internet and letting movers in when we couldn't be at home. It's been invaluable having so much support when everything was new to us. read more

Bay Tree has been a GREAT place for us to vacation in our town. We needed a few months away, waiting for the house, and this was a wonderful transition. Grandkids enjoyed the pool and bbq area... us too. Eating on the balcony was a fun getaway too. Our property manager, Tascha, saw that all of our move in/move out needs were met without hesitation. The maintenance staff was always polite and accommodating. This place feels like a neighborhood with kind residents and well maintained grounds. Walking through LG is a real plus. read more

The word "luxury" is included in the Bay Tree marketing materials; however, however living at Bay Tree was far from a luxurious experience. The property manager and facilities manager are wonderful, kind, caring, responsive people. It's unfortunate that so many of the residents are quite the opposite. One of the negatives of living here, if you are a non-smoker who doesn't like smelling smoke, is that smoking is allowed on the property, just not in the units. Our neighbors smoked outside constantly, and it came right in our bedroom window. These particular neighbors also happened to be outside smoking in the middle of the night quite often, so we were regularly awakened by the smell of smoke in the summer (no air conditioning) and them talking and coughing. We and other neighbors complained about them several times; nothing changed in the course of the year we lived there. Another neighbor let her dog hang out on her porch all night, and the dog would bark at people and other animals, usually for 20-30 minutes straight, late at night and several times at 3 or 4 am. We and other neighbors complained about her multiple times; she was still living there when we moved out. Another neighbor let her kids use her apartment as a party pad, and several neighbors called the police in response to those incidents. That same neighbor left her cats outside all night, though the leases specifically prohibit pets from being outdoors, and they would howl at her door all night. We and other neighbors complained about her actions on several occasions; nothing changed. Another neighbor's son liked to come home drunk and puke outside our window. He would also yell and carry on and get into verbal disagreements with neighbors who asked him to be quiet. Other neighbors refused to pick up after their dogs, despite dog bags being readily available all over the property. The units themselves are nicely laid out, and the paint, flooring, cabinets, and appliances are new. Nothing is top-quality, but it's nice enough. Had it not been for our inconsiderate neighbors, who were totally unresponsive to the management's requests that they meet their lease obligations as tenants, I might have enjoyed living here. Instead, I was woken up repeatedly at least once a week and have never been so happy to move away from a place. read more

If you like neighbors that smoke and drink punctuated by hawking a loogie and vomiting below your bedroom window until 3 every morning this is the place for you. Do you like to pay 3k/month rent and call the police whenever your another neighbor's son is home from school? Then Baytree should be your first choice in apartments. Love to have your car broken into? Go Baytree! Like your bikes and strollers stolen? Baytree is the place for you. read more

I have lived here since November and have loved it since I moved in. The one-bedroom I live in is on the very large side (the master bedroom is huge) and has a comparably large patio area, which is rare. There is a washer-dryer in-unit, which is a must-have to be. Tons of closets and storage space, including a storage unit on the parking level, cool enough to keep wine in. My apartment is one of the non-updated ones, and I love it. The biggest draw to this apartment complex is the location. Two blocks from Santa Cruz Ave with tons of restaurants and shopping, as well as a park around the corner. Having a dog and being a female, it is really nice to feel safe walking him all around the neighborhood even at 5 in the morning before the sun comes up. The complex itself is older, so the insulation is poor and you can hear people walking on the street like they are right in front of your apartment, but I never hear my neighbors, and that's a trade-off I'll take for apartment living. Lastly, the property manager, Rose, is great. She is so friendly and remembers your name from the get-go. I'd definitely recommend this place if you want to pay a bit more for a great location with a nice community feel. read more

Lived in this complex for several years and it was not the most pleasant experience. The complex went under several rennovations (if you want to call them that) which caused massive disruptions for the tenants. Water was shut off frequently for extended periods, there was noise and stuff strewn about and at one point, our balconys were inaccessible for days on end during the summer months. Had many issues with noisy neighbors as well (especially two sets of tenants below me who enjoyed throwing parties). The units themselves are an odd design with very small bathrooms and kitchens which makes the functional space not very effective. Only really good thing is the location which is walking distance to downtown Los Gatos. But that in and of itself doesn't compensate for the issues. read more

Before I share all the reasons why you should not give this location even a nanosecond of consideration, if you're looking for a place to call home, I will share the one mitigating consideration that earned this dump one star... the property manager. Considering the position she's in and the property she's engaged in managing, she's nothing short of an absolute pleasure to work with and the Bay Tree's only saving grace. Here's what I can tell you. The Bay Tree boasts newly remodeled, top-of-the-line appliances, spacious living areas, and beautifully maintained grounds. "BUYER BEWARE" None of this is true. IMO it's an overpriced slum, masquerading as luxury apts. I moved into what was supposed to be their fully remodeled, highly upgraded, two-bedroom unit, which rents for $2995 a month. Because the unit was occupied at the time I signed into the lease, I moved into the unit sight unseen; based on a brief walk through of what I was told was an identical unit. My unit was not ready on the day I was scheduled to move in. The first day I was allowed to see the apartment and perform the move-in inspection was ON the day of the move. The SECOND the door was opened I was hit with an overpowering smell of a VERY unpleasant odor. I was told it was a glue smell from the complete replacement of the laminate floors and carpeting. I've now lived here 5 weeks and the smell has only worsened. The source and cause hasn't been isolated yet and it renders the second full bath (and laundry area) completely inhabitable... unless you have no sense of smell or aren't phased by a wrenching odor of cat urine and mold. No amount of cleaning removes the odor. As if that weren't enough to endure - I have the extreme displeasure of living with: -Toilets and sinks that back up daily -Foul odors from every drain, including the dishwasher and showers. -Bathrooms so small you cant open a drawer or cupboard without closing the doors. -Closet doors too heavy to slide -Walls that do not hold drywall hooks. -Dishwasher that vibrates out of position, grinds, doesnt clean at all and leaves a thick white film on EVERYTHING. -NO KITCHEN CUPBOARD SPACE. The kitchen has two full sized drawers, two under counter cupboards, one pantry, and one storage cupboard over the stove and refrigerator. THAT'S IT! -Washer and Dryer are NOT full sized, nor updated. The model in my apartment is 10+ years old and stackable. The basin holds two regular sized bath towels. Period. The dryer has to run for three cycles to dry a load. -The entire counter in the kitchen (yes, there is only one) vibrates and rattles when the disposal is run. -Paper thin walls. You can hear everything and hold conversations with family two rooms over without raising your voice. -SPIDERS EVERYWHERE -The grounds are covered in spider webs. Large, prominent webs. -One part-time handyman for the entire property. -The garbage rooms are never cleaned - the garbage cans are never washed out ((1) 30 gal can per 2 apts). The smell is overpowering and garbage stacks up all week long. -Crank windows from the 60's, that don't seal, with screens that dont sit flush. - Chipping paint on the exterior stairs and railings. Stained exterior walkways, and the roof on my patio leaks. -Be warned, all outlets in this complex are outdated, two-pronged, and wont accept any of your electronics unless you buy an adapter and accept the less than stable connection that creates. -No air conditioning and not well insulated. Windows are not double paned and because they don't fit well or seal when closed, VERY drafty. -There is a black 'scum' (? I have not confirmed it to be mold) that came up through the caulking in the bathroom when bleach was applied and our bathtub filled with two quarts worth of a black sludge after pouring bleach down the drain to kill the smell. Whatever it is, it's in the pipes. Anyone interested in seeing this can email me for a photo. -Our hot water runs out after a 10 min shower. I can keep going but honestly, if you are still unsure if this place is worth your money or not... seeing the rest of the list wont matter. If you enjoy a clean, fresh, environment with all the amenities, you wont be happy here. My advice to anyone considering moving here is think long and hard about what you're willing to sacrifice and how much you're willing to pay for substandard living conditions. There are redeeming values to this complex. It's small and the residents are friendly. The architecture and retro feel is a welcome surprise. The location is perfect if you enjoy downtown Los Gatos and if you have kids, you're in the Los Gatos school district. If the owner really wanted to make some money, he'd gut the place and remodel from the ground up. Then sit back and see just how much people will pay for true apt luxury in the heart of Los Gatos. read more

My daughter and I have lived here for a year. We chose a larger 2 bed 2 bath apt at the back of the complex. We have not had bad experiences with neighbors. The vacancy rate however has been high during our stay so we have not had many neighbors. The unit inside is nice but not a great value for money. It lacks three prong electricity throughout the unit, double pane windows and does not have A/C. Given the price point of north of $4K a month with no on site amenities beyond location and a pool, the property does not make a great value proposition. For us it was about convenience until our major remodel was done or we could find a town home to buy and leave. Plus needing to rent with a dog in the bay area is difficult. We did find that some pet owners did not pick up after their animals, but unfortunately that is to be expected. We did not experience smokers near us or on property so that was nice. We rarely heard other animals at night but we chose a location at the back near the parking away from the common area to try to avoid noise and that worked well for us. If we had not needed to move quickly, I had less than 15 days to find somewhere to live with a dog, and I had not needed to be near chargers, I have a completely electric vehicle, we most likely would not have selected the Bay Tree. It has not been a bad experience but again I think there are other properties in the area that represent better value for money if you have time to look for them. read more
