Good selection of bourbon and prices in line with the rest of the area. Good selection of mixers/accompaniments and nice staff.

The owner is very unfriendly, but the employees are good. Check your receipt if Kendra rings you up.

The beer work is shrinking. Some this is the result of over-saturation, and the reality that you…read morecan no longer expect local craft beer to be worth the price. Not so with Riff Raff. Every single beer on tap was quality. Even if the style wasn't your favorite, it was still quality. But for for me, I thought every beer was delicious. To tag along, the was also high quality (that goat burger was amazing). I can't finish this without giving a nod to the Service, our bartender, she was great. Finally, I loved the ambiance. It fit the entire vibe and would recommend this to anyone

Last week, my wife, two friends, and I were vacationing in Pagosa Springs for the first time. We…read moreabsolutely fell in love with the town. The scenery, the weather, and the overall atmosphere were incredible. On July 9th, we decided to have dinner at Riff Raff on the Rio. We were told the wait could be up to an hour, so we told the hostess we'd gladly take the first available table. We ordered drinks at the outdoor bar while we waited, and I want to specifically recognize the bartender, who provided outstanding customer service and made us feel welcome. Ironically, we were called much sooner than expected, but that's when our experience took a disappointing turn. When we returned to the hostess stand, we politely asked if we could be seated outside since the weather was beautiful and the live band was fantastic. I'm not sure what about that request upset the hostess, but her attitude changed immediately. Without saying a word, she turned around and walked away. She never told us to follow her or asked us to wait. We were left standing there wondering what we were supposed to do. A few moments later, we walked outside and saw her throwing menus onto a table. She never acknowledged us or indicated that it was our table. We assumed it was and sat down, but the entire interaction was uncomfortable and unnecessarily rude. My friend even went over to the hostess to apologize in case we had somehow offended her, making it clear that upsetting her was never our intention. She never acknowledged the apology, nor did she apologize for the way she had treated us. We decided to continue with our meal, and before bringing up the issue, I wanted to make sure our food had arrived so it wouldn't affect our server or the kitchen. Afterward, I asked to speak with the manager. Unfortunately, that conversation was just as disappointing. Rather than apologizing for the hostess's behavior, he immediately defended it by saying she was only 16 years old and that it's difficult to find good help. While I understand that young employees are still learning, age is not an excuse for treating customers disrespectfully. More importantly, leadership should model accountability. A simple, sincere apology would have gone a long way. Instead, the manager became defensive. Later, he returned and told me he had comped 50% of my meal which, ironically, was just a kid's grilled cheese and fries. The discount completely missed the point. I wasn't looking for free food, nor did I ask for a discount. I would have gladly paid the full bill. What I wanted was accountability, professionalism, and the basic courtesy of acknowledging that our experience was handled poorly. Everyone has bad days. I truly believe that. But customer service isn't measured when everything goes right; it's measured by how problems are handled when something goes wrong. In this case, both the hostess and the manager failed. It's unfortunate because the location is beautiful, the food was good, and the bartender was excellent. Those positives were completely overshadowed by the lack of professionalism and customer care. We absolutely plan to return to Pagosa Springs because it's a wonderful place. However, we will not be returning to Riff Raff on the Rio, nor could I recommend it based on our experience. I genuinely hope the restaurant takes customer service more seriously in the future, because a beautiful location alone cannot overcome poor hospitality. Please do better, Riff Raff.
