The ambiance and music was really good. The food - steak nachos and shrimp tacos were really good. The drinks were not good at all. Too much ice in them and being that it was hot the ice melted quick. But drinks had no punch to them before the ice melted.

This is one of Harlem's hidden gems! Its ship located in West Harlem, great in the summer. Phenomenal drinks, great bar food and complete vibe on a sunny day. It doesn't get overly crowded however when I recently went there was a party so they had sit in one area. Definitely go if you are looking to get a refreshing cocktail and catch some river views.

Captains Colada- strong and delicious ($11 during hh)

I love it here!! The Baylander is open seasonally- not sure the exact dates/months but I know it's during the warmer months and then closed for fall/winter. It's situated on the Hudson with amazing 360 views of Jersey, the city and the GW bridge. There's great music, happy hour from 3-5 on Tuesday-thursday and 2-5 on Fridays. Their hh includes food items and great drinks for $11! I personally love the captains colada, which is a frozen pina colada- she's strong but smooth and has an amazing coconut cream flavor. I swear I'm tipsy off just one. I haven't had much of their food but i've had the fries with old bay and they're so delicious with the sweeter drinks! Service is always really nice and friendly here- there's a bar that you order at and they give you your drinks right away and a buzzer for food that you pick up at a window. I personally love the casualness of the whole place coupled with the great views and atmosphere. People are always having a good time and the musics always great! Highly recommend!!

Strawberry Banana boozy milkshake, shrimp tacos, cheese burger, sweet potato fries, and mule!

Fun spot for a date or night out with friends! Vibes are great- it's literally a decommissioned boat on the Hudson with nice views, decent food, and fun drinks. Tried the shrimp tacos and a boozy strawberry banana milkshake- milkshake was bomb! My friend got a burger and mule. Sweet potato fries were fine. Overall food is okay, but the drinks are good! Service is friendly. You order at the bar and then sit down. It can get cold/windy being on the water, so dress appropriately esp at night!

Baylander Steel Beach - Drinks, Sunsets & Good Vibes Baylander Steel Beach is such a cool spot on the Hudson! I went to catch the sunset, sip some cocktails, and it was the perfect vibe. I tried the Steel Beach Margarita ("THAT PATRÓN DRINK") and the Blue Skyy Lemonade--both were super refreshing and hit the spot. The service was quick, the views were stunning, and the whole atmosphere was laid-back but fun. If you're in NYC and want drinks with a view, definitely check this place out!

Baylander is an overdue review. Lunch with friends is great because you can order and pay separately. You get a beeper and pick up your order at the kitchen. It's all outdoor seating with an overhang in one section. One thing to remember is that this unusual restaurant is seasonal. They close for the winter. I recommend everyone try it at least once. My friends enjoyed for the most part. One friend wasn't thrilled with her hot dog and sauerkraut. I was along for the adventure and enjoyed the views and the pleasant ship atmosphere.

Great way to stay refresh with their drinks .. sit back and relax by the water. Great service at the bar ..

Favorite place to feel the wind through my hair! This bar is located on an old aircraft carrier in the Hudson River. Located in Harlem, this place is absolutely amazing! It is always several degrees cooler than the city because it is out on the water. More of a casual vibe with a self-serve counter for drinks and light bites. The pina coladas are delicious and very strong. Would recommend this for a fun date night or a group hangout.

Nice vibes and good mix of folks. Came with my teen and didn't feel like a jerk. There were older peeps and younger peeps, and even a few puppers. Can't beat the views!

Margarita ( cant remember the actual name but it had watermelon in it).

It is an amazing place to grab some drinks and food and hang out with friends. You order and pick up your own food. They provide you with a beeper when your drinks and food are ready. It was a great time. Beautiful scenery. I would say the service was great because our food and drinks were ready quickly.

If you're looking for decent food and a nice view of the water, this is the place to be! The food was good and the cocktails were strong.

The establishment has a wonderful view and the food was good but the drinks were a waste of money. I didn't taste any liquor at all in my drink for 18.00 dollars. There are no servers and you have to order your food in the front of the boat and wait to be called. Make sure you take a jacket because it gets cold by the water.

If you love eating on a boat over water but hate high prices (Grand Banks) and douchey bros (Frying Pan), then you might just like Baylander Steel Beach. The food won't win any culinary awards, but it's decently priced and portioned for what you get. - Maryland Crab Tater Tots: Tasty, though they use artificial crab meat - Firecracker Flash Fried Calamari: Skip this. Too much sweet and savory mixed together, and not in a good way - Beer Battered Fish Tacos: Solid - West Harlem Lobster Roll: A surprising amount of lobster and not too much mayor - Smokin' Fries: Ample and well-seasoned I was playing it sober that night, so I opted for the Man Overboard mocktail, which was very refreshing with ginger beer, watermelon and lime juice. Bonus points: The single-stall bathrooms keep the old war-time equipment intact. Even if you care nothing for nautical history, it's just plain cool to see all those gadgets and gizmos aplenty.

Ask the Community - Baylander Steel Beach

How crowded does it get on a weeknight around 5:30pm?

What kind of music do they play?

When I was there, they played a lot of current pop music, but also some really great 2000's throwbacks!

    Parking for cars? Any recommendations?

Across street . Meters as well

Do you have to make a reservation for a party of 3? Is there outdoor seating?

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes they are! I brought mine and they even came over to give her her own water bowl :)

How could I not love a place with the name, Scarlet Lounge?…read more It takes a lot to get me to venture to this part of town and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a night out on the Upper West Side, but Scarlet has been on my list since I saw owner, Michael Imperioli's announcing the opening on Instagram. I found myself in the area on recent Friday evening and decided to meet up with two friends here. I was smitten at first sight of the beautifully-appointed room, with seductive red drapery and gold accents. All I wanted to do was curl up on one of the velvet chairs and spend my entire evening captivated by imagined past lives of this space... Dorothy Parker holding court here with her Vicious Circle, sipping on Gibsons and martinis. You're going to have a glorious time. We were welcomed by a dashing gentleman at the door who kindly found us seating in the sultry little nook by the piano. Our server never left us wanting for anything and believe me, we wanted it all. Cocktail names are well-priced, especially for Manhattan. I kept to a decent bubbly and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time here.

ONE BARTENDER FOR THE ENTIRE BAR -- READ BEFORE YOU GO:…read more I've never felt more gaslit by positive reviews in my life. The people calling this place "amazing" are either Sopranos fans, personally connected to management, or grading on an unbelievably generous curve. I have absolutely nothing to gain from distorting my experience. And judging by reviews like Benny R's below, I'm clearly not the only one saying this: if you go to The Scarlet, expect to wait forever, get ignored, and leave frustrated. And the worst part? It's not even a one-off bad night. I've been to The Scarlet multiple times, and every single visit has been the exact same mess: one bartender trying to run the entire place alone while customers sit around waiting endlessly for service. Last night (May 20), there were around 20-25 people in the bar between the tables and bar seats, and a single bartender was expected to do everything: make drinks, take orders, deliver cocktails to tables, clear space at the bar, all of it. Unsurprisingly, service moved at a glacial pace. My date and I were seated when we arrived and after waiting 30 minutes without anyone coming over, I finally had to walk up to the bar and order my own drink. It was deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional. Management charging $25 per cocktail while refusing to properly staff the place is ridiculous. If you're going to price drinks like a luxury lounge, at least operate like one. MEMO TO MANAGEMENT - stop being cheap and hire another bartender. Your customers are paying enough to deserve basic service.

"Things to Consider":…read more 1. Food - fine if you want to pay hotel prices for food that you can get at a New Jersey or Long Island mall at much lower prices. Paper plates, plastic cutlery and pita chips warmed and served in the bags they came in. 2. Service - non-existent. No staff members acknowledge your arrival. You either have to wave madly or go to the bar and ask for a drink. The staff is always closing early with the staff excuse that "we are not busy" yet guests are routinely turned away. The staff is not happy and begrudge being there. DO NOT believe in the hours posted on the website. There is a built-in clientele but the staff can't wait to close it down. I don't know what is wrong with management but they have lost the plot. 3. Ambience - The space could be so much better than it is. The lighting is okay but the seating in the bar area is not appropriate. The adjoining cafe has a better feeling. Ambience has a lot to do with making guests feel welcome - this staff doesn't understand the meaning of hospitality but they should not be blamed. It is clear they have no training and are not held to any standard. If you want to go to a great space, go to the Wallace Hotel around the corner (I am NOT affiliated with them... have just gone there many times). It is so sad to see a place with such potential be so poorly run, especially as they have such little competition. The Arthouse Bar has the potential to be THE leading cocktail/music/late-night bar on the Upper West Side.

Usually that would mean that service is faster as the staff are walking out of the kitchen, but the service here was unbearably slow. We had to crane our heads to get our orders taken, to find someone to give us our bill, and to ask about our order. We ordered a drink (the second drink was sold out and my friend was uninterested in other options) and two appetizers and the drink came first, followed by a twenty minute wait for calamari. The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. We obviously did not ask them to start making it for us, instead asking for the bill and then leaving. I wish I liked this place more than I did, but the service and staff here were so slow and hard to flag down it felt like we spent our entire meal looking around.

We had an absolute blast from the moment we stepped inside. The whole experience--from the warm welcome at the door to the high-energy live music--was 10/10. The Food Experience: Truly Next Level The food here isn't just "bar snacks"--it's a full-on culinary experience. We tried several dishes and honestly, every single one was a hit: * Grandma's Sunday Sauce: This was the star of the show. It's pure comfort in a bowl and tastes like it's been simmering for days. * The Bacon: You can't go wrong here. It's perfectly prepared, smoky, and dangerously addictive. * The Burrata: So fresh and creamy--the perfect way to start the meal. * Crispy Shrimp: These had the perfect crunch and were packed with flavor. The Vibes & Service The host set the tone right away with a great welcome, and the service throughout the night was seamless. It's rare to find a spot that balances a sophisticated "speakeasy" atmosphere with such friendly, attentive staff. And of course, the music! The live band was electric and kept the energy high all night long. The "Roaring 20s" vibe is so well-done--it feels intimate but exciting at the same time. Final Verdict I would definitely suggest Prohibition to everyone! Whether you're a local or just visiting the city, this is the spot for great food, amazing service, and a vibe you won't find anywhere else. We'll definitely be back for more!
