Everything, I mean everything, was delicious! It has a wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes and some fusion dishes. My favorite was the lamb on a pottery. We called before coming for a party of 9, and they were able to seat us right away . Service was amazing, ambiance was good, not too noisy.
Chi is a Chinese restaurant and offers a variety of amazing Chinese dishes. When my friends and I went, we got their cucumber salad, truffle fried rice, beef, and crispy shrimp (which we only got after seeing SO MANY orders come out from the kitchen--we just had to try). Everything was pretty solid and portions were good! Service was so very nice and kind. If you haven't been, I would highly recommend to check this out!
Outstanding Schechuan food in midtown. Just a few blocks from Penn Station, Madison Square Gardens and Times Square. Large, beautiful restaurant with excellent service and great food. Prices are decent for the location. Good cocktail and drinks. We tried the Shrimp dumplings, Green Chili Chicken ( Outstanding!), Shrimp Fried Rice (Outstanding!) and Shrimp Lo Mein. Everything was freshly cooked with generous portions. I will definitely be back.
After visiting The Vessel, we walked about 15 minutes to Chi for dinner, then headed back to The Edge for sunset. It turned out to be the perfect CityWalk. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was delicious. The cold appetizer platter was a great start, the crispy shrimp were perfectly crunchy, and the braised beef short ribs were so tender with a rich sauce that was amazing over rice. The dim sum sampler was also a nice way to try a little of everything. For drinks, The Pavilion was light and refreshing, while the Diamond Dragon came in a diamond-shaped glass with dry ice, making it both fun to drink and great for photos. The restaurant was busy even on a weekday evening, with a big screen showing a soccer match that added to the atmosphere. Great food, great vibes, and a perfect stop after exploring Hudson Yards. I'd definitely come back.
The interior is beautiful and the staff were very attentive and made sure everything was to our liking! This place is definitely on the high end side and it makes you feel like you're dining in an emperors palace! The food presentation was top notch and everything was plated beautifully and as pictured on the menu! This place is definitely on the pricier side, but surprisingly the cheapest dish we ordered (eggplant w/ garlic sauce, you can never go wrong with that) was THE BEST! The golden shrimp balls were also good, but it's just regular fried shrimp with crispies on top. Overall I had a pretty good experience!
Szechuan fine dining at its best, everything is prepared perfectly and presented so creatively. My favorite here is the fish maw soup with pickled vegetables. The Peking duck skin is lovely (I heard from my fellow diners). They also have great cocktails... Baijiu cocktail Lychee martini Paperplane The main dining room can be loud, but if you guarantee $100pp you can get a private room.
Chi Restaurant had been on my Yelp list for quite some time, and it finally lived up to the anticipation. The space strikes a balance between stylish and comfortable, with dim lighting, dark tones, and soft background music creating an inviting atmosphere. A large projection screen above the bar makes it easy to keep up with the big game without disrupting the restaurant's upscale feel. The attention to detail throughout the dining room is impressive, and the waitstaff were attentive, professional, and welcoming. I dined solo at the bar and ordered exclusively from the Chi Social Hour menu. Everything I tried was excellent. The Dan Dan Noodles were spicy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The Crispy Duck was perfectly portioned and served with salt and pepper on the side, allowing the rich flavors to shine. I also enjoyed the Grilled Pork Short Ribs, which were tender, and packed with flavor. Chi combines a polished atmosphere with outstanding service and well-executed dishes. I'll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu.
Two pork belly dishes of braised and with cauliflower were the tastiest dishes at Chi Restaurant & Bar. The ribs were meaty and fork tender. The crispy duck was bland despite the mixed salt sprinkled on top. The wrappers of the pork soup dumplings were thick like most of the places here in the City. The spring rolls tasted unusual and we nibbled at it. My choice of orange chicken was bright in color and yet could have had more punch. Our selection was from the Power Lunch menu which was far cheaper than the regular menu. Brenda drank three lychee martinis and said that the third one had barely any alcohol. I know because I had a sip. Chi Restaurant had been on my list of places to eat for a few years. It's a pretty restaurant with lots of art. Restrooms like most on Ninth Avenue are downstairs. Both the servers were professional and friendly. Zhong Zhuo Sheng aka Sam and Wen Xiang aka Liu were the two affable servers. It was a pleasure to meet them.
Chi is definitely an elevated, modern Chinese restaurant catered to a higher income crowd. It's really luxurious inside and designed beautifully. I tried items from their traditional menu which consists of things like: The General's Accord Lobster Sticky Rice Truffle Beef Tenderloin Four Treasures Bisque The Diamond Dragon and Summer Palace mocktails are pretty and refreshing! However, they were pretty small and I finished my drink in 5 sips. I loved the trio dishes app which allowed me to try a variety of authentic cold dishes. The soup was creamy, rich, and had high quality seafood in it like abalone and sea urchin. The truffle beef had a really good strong truffle flavor and the sticky rice with lobster had nice crunchy bits of rice in it. The lobster could've had a bit more flavor and a nicer fried coasting on the shell. For the beef dish, they gave so little beef for an entree that is $46 on the menu. We could count the amount of beef cubes while the rest of the dish was mushrooms and onions. The dish was also not even filled. Half the plate was empty when it came out to our table. It felt like a rip off. Their desserts come from the amazing Bibble & Sip a couple blocks away, so they're gorgeous and tasty of course. However, you can get them at Bibble & Sip for face value price.
Three days in NYC and our pre-broadway meal has been by far our best experience. Needed a 3:30 reservation for 8 near the show? No problem. Chi had plenty of openings online through Resy 21 days before. When we arrived, we learned that it was happy hour from 2-6. But one drink and get one equal value for free. Food was spot on. Spice tolerance in our group was average so we made no modifications and everyone seems to enjoy it. The spicy lamb was very good. Some dishes had more kick and I did have a mild sweat going by the end of the meal but the cherry old fashioned did a good job cooling me off. Our servers were attentive and great.
I was pleasantly surprised by Chi. It wasn't just the food but the service as well. The service was a perfectly coordinated symphony. As we finished our dish there was someone changing plates for every course and removing the dishes. They were so swift we barely noticed. We stopped by for lunch. We tried the Dan Dan noodles - perfectly cooked with the right balance of meat and spices. We also tried the pork soup dumplings - it was juicy and delicious. For main dish we had the Spicy Cumin Lamb, Fried Chicken with Dry Chili and the black Truffle Fried Rice - Yang Chow style. The Cumin Lab is a must try - it's tender lamb grilled with peppers. The Yang Chow style fried rice perfectly complimented the lamb and the spicy fired chicken. Everything we tried was very good. I look forward to being back to try more of their menu.
5 star experience! Admittedly, I wish I were a bit more daring on the authentic Chinese food, but there's a lot of pork and that's just not for me. That said, we did have the bbq spare ribs. I didn't love them, but my kids really enjoyed them and the meat was fall off the bone tender. I also thought the presentation was nice. The chicken lo mein was excellent- just a perfect execution of a simple staple. Happy hour is buy one get one- mocktails included. My kids had two of the mocktails that were both really tasty. All in all- solid experience, beautiful setting, and friendly service.
Came to Chi with my mom for lunch following a spa day. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Saturday afternoon with only a few tables being occupied. The inside of the restaurant is modern yet simple and I actually like the decor. Service was just so so (reason for knocking off the 5th star) and not really memorable. Food/Drinks: For drinks, my mother had a lychee martini which was pretty tasty and well balanced. I ordered the Irish americano which was INCREDIBLE (mom agreed)! Think... elevated espresso martini with vanilla cold foam and a dusting of cinnamon. For the appetizer, we ordered the dim sum sampler and each option was tasty. For the main course, we ordered the Mongolian beef (which was similar to pepper steak), the shredded duck lo mein, and stir fried broccoli. We wanted the string beans, but they were sold out. Everything we ate was delicious; I don't think there was a single item we didn't like. If I had to nit-pick, I'd say that the lo mein was a tad bit greasy. Overall, we'd definitely return for drinks and try some other menu items.
We got grilled pork spare ribs, scallion pancake, half of a Peking duck, pork xiao long bao, mapo tofu, la zi ji (spicy crispy chicken), and general tsos chicken. The grilled pork spare ribs was good, but it was too little meat for the price. The scallion pancake was bland. The Peking duck was ok. The pork xiao long bao was bad. The skin broke easily with the included forceps and with chopsticks. It was hard even transferring it to my plate. The mapo tofu was bland. The la zi ji (spicy crispy chicken) was too spicy to eat. I have good spice tolerance, and I always eat la zi ji, but it was just too spicy. This was the only meat dish that was barely touched at the end of the dinner. The best dish was the cumin lamb. It was seasoned well and the lamb was tender. I wish they gave us more lamb though. The meat pieces were small. I've had much better Chinese food in dallas. I would not recommend this Chinese restaurant to anyone. read more

Located on the Westside behind Port authority. This un suspecting authentic Chinese restaurant sits in a busy block. They have a banner for great HH specials that can only be redeemed at the bar (until next time). The space is large and modern. Suitable for big groups, date night, pre show, post showing dining. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The food: Soup dumplings- had a nice glisten to the outer bun. The under carriage held firm and with a delicious soup bro inside. Fish filet with ginger and scallion- nice portion size and a flavorful and clean dish. Braised pork belly- jam packed in flavor and cooked so tender from the meat to the fat. The pan fried noodle- normally a favorite in Chinese restaurants. This didn't hit its marks. There wasn't much noodles. The outer brim wasn't crispy. And it was a lot of sauce. The protein was scarce. And they had more veggies than protein. We were a table of 5 including a 6 year old. And everybody left full. And satisfied. read more

Nice way to start off 2026. Chi is a very good chinese restaurant on the west side of manhattan. Everything we ordered was flavorful, presented well and just tasted excellent. This place is a haven for those who love good quality chinese food done right. Waiters and staff were very friendly. Apps ordered were BBQ SPARE Ribs, pork steamed dumplings, spring rolls and cucumber salad. Ribs were so tender and fell right off the bone. Dumplings and rolls were excellent. Main courses did not disappoint. Entrees ordered were Truffle Chicken and Broccoli, Braised Pork Belly, Truffle Beef Tenderloin, and Fried Rice. My braised pork belly was cooked perfectly. The truffle beef and chicken were really delicious. Fried rice was perfect. Price can add up quickly here especially when ordering drinks but keep in mind entree sizes are enough to share so have a game plan before you order if you want to save. Family style size portion for big platters can serve 2 or more easily. You can get full here just by ordering all the delicious apps. Cocktail menu is good. Choices on what to eat will have your head spinning. Good idea to review menu before going. I highly recommend this place. We had a great experience ! read more

Celebrated a graduation dinner. We had a party of 20 and it was great. My cousin had been there and she raved about the food. She was right. Loved the ambiance, food was great, and nice mocktail selection. I particularly loved the pork dumplings, the lobster fried rice, spicy shrimp, and lamb. I will def go back. read more
This spot was an unexpected delight! A bit more americanized and on the pricier side, but the food had high quality ingredients, tasted clean, the ambiance was higher end, and everything came out so fast! While the portions are on the smaller side, the food is extremely satiating. The highlights for me were the fish in pickled cabbage (which came with mushrooms and noodles), the string beans, mapo tofu, and truffle chicken and broccoli. The short-rib was also a nice fusion dish - the beef was so tender! Would definitely want to come back to try out the other dishes on the menu. read more
A friend recommended this place because of the late-night happy hour drinks, and since I was in the area, I decided to give it a try. As soon as we walked in and sat at the bar, the bartender (red hair with two braids) gave us a very unpleasant look that immediately made us feel unwelcome, almost like we were intruding. She took our order, but her attitude throughout the entire interaction felt rude and unprofessional. The bar was also noticeably dirty, and instead of checking on us to see if we wanted another round, she focused on cleaning while completely ignoring us. It was only around 11:40 PM, and the place supposedly closes at 1 AM, so I really didn't understand the frustration or attitude. The place itself is beautiful, but unfortunately her behavior completely ruined the experience for us, and we decided not to stay. They definitely need to improve their hospitality and customer service. read more

This restaurant single handedly saved our rough day at BookCon. My friends and I were all exhausted and disappointed in our event that we just wanted to get Chinese food for dinner and head home. This place was walking distance from the Javits center and there was no wait. Inside is clean and well designed. The food itself was high quality and reasonably priced as the serving size was quite large. Rice cost extra which we decided we did not need. Everyone was in much better spirits after eating here and I look forward to coming back after another trip to the Javits center! read more
I loved my experience here! Nice cocktail and loved the eggplant in garlic sauce. My server was SO kind!! He truly made my dinner fantastic especially since I was dining alone. I love spicy and he said id love the dry chili chicken and I did!! It was awesome! Amazing time and the vibe is elegant. Id come back for a date night for sure. read more

They have some exquisite entrees for meat eaters, and the seafood menu is impressive as well. only complaint and it may just be me being a big visual person: not a fan of the way the Kung Pao shrimp is served, in a soup of peanuts and peppers. But the General Tso's style shrimp was incredible. Had an addictive spicy coating on a (well-portioned) platter of juuumbo shrimp and broccoli. All of the greens were ridiculously on point especially the tangy cucumbers and crispy green bean sides, respectively. Scallion pancakes weren't greasy, the fried rice had a generous amount of veggies and was anything but average-- same with the lo mein. Such a solid dinner! read more

Food: Brought some friends here for a more elevated Sichuan/Chinese meal. Everything was so well executed and flavorful. Really hit the spot and surprisingly authentic! I guess you can find some great gems near Times Square. Some highlights of the night were the pork soup dumplings (ample pocket of porky soup in a thicker chewy dumpling), cumin lamb (aromatic with a tinge of spice), and sliced beef in chili broth! Service: The wait staff were highly attentive and considerate. We did not have to wait for a table, which surprises me. I guess it just isn't viral. Ambiance: Refined and elegant dining experience that is still unapologetically Chinese inspired. Decor is great. read more
Nice, dim, sleek atmosphere with a nice mix of specialty dishes alongside the standard Chinese-American stuff (ex. I got pork lo mein, because I choose safe!) I don't have the most sophisticated palette. I host a small gathering for women to join up each month called the NYC Girls Supper Club, and I chose this because of the safe options as well as the more traditional Chinese, proximity to transportation for the ladies, it was reasonable, and I checked out the vibe based on Yelp user photos, and it turned out perfectly! read more

As a fan of authentic Chinese food I have to say this is actually pretty good considering that around that neighborhood there isn't anything like this other than Chinese take out. The food is delicious, service is great and the ambiance is cool very chill. Staff are very friendly. I would definitely come back if around the area. read more

4.5 stars Great food and cocktails. Very attentive. We arrived in time for HH so we were able to try some of their drinks 2 for 1 deal. Some were gimmicky but still tasted good so I asked the waitress for recommendations since I wanted stronger drinks... she was very helpful and I tried everything she suggested. When you get seated they do ask if you want a pot of tea, we didn't know it was $8 but it was very good. Not your typical tea served at dim sum. For food, I ordered pork belly, crispy shrimp balls, and the emperor seafood fried rice.. Everything was so delicious. I'd order everything again.... Really high quality ingredients... I usually don't want to waste money on a fried rice dish but this wasn't your ordinary fried rice... it was so tasty with so many ingredients, lobster, snow crab with wild rice... and more. $32 but so good. I still ordered a reg white rice for the pork belly, the sauce was so yummy, we had to eat it with white rice. We usually order pork belly at Szechuan restaurants, they're all very similar, but it was even better here. We were so full. I was on a budget so couldn't order too much, so I definitely want to come back and try more dishes. The drink that was smoking was sweet, not strong but tasty. The one served in a tea cup was strong. I had to take sips. The espresso martini was surprisingly very good..one of the best I've had. Lychee martini was good. Do not get the dessert panda. Out of curiosity we did order it...it's a very cute, but ordinary piece of cake. Nothing special. We were there for like 2 hrs. They did not rush us at all. A bit expensive but the food was so good. Dim lit environment, perfect for date night. Partner and i went on a friday night and it was super busy. If you think about driving, there's metered parking around the block, not hard to find. The layout of the restaurant felt slightly claustrophobic, very loud. Got seated super quickly (made reservation). The server didn't get to us til 10-15 minutes after getting seated, no water or anything. The table next to us waited about 20 minutes for a server to come to take down their order. They didn't seem very attentive, maybe it was too busy. (clean bathroom btw.. just to put it out there) NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THE FOOD!! Our food came out surprisingly quick, but everything was fresh and hot. Started off with the Mala Trio: chicken could've been more flavorful, duck was nice and tender, BUT THE CUCUMBER SALAD IS CHEFS KISS (better than din tai fung). The fried shrimp was good, tasted very familiar, sweet and savory, amazing texture, and compatible to rock shrimp for reference. Braised pork belly was pretty good, very standard, tender and flavorful not mind blowing. The fried chicken with dried chili was so good, crispy and flavorful, I have a decent spice tolerance and would put this at a 2/10 in spice. Pan fried noodles were standard, too salty in my opinion, and definitely over price. I also got a small white rice to go with everything to even out the saltiness, they forgot about my rice and they comped it when I gave them a reminder. I'd say half the menu is authentic and half is americanized, great for everyone. Huge menu. Overall, would recommend checking this place out. But if you plan on coming on a friday night or weekend, it would be safer to make a reservation. Good portions for city pricing. GET THE CUCUMBER SALAD!!! read more
Very tasty food. Scallion pancakes were crispy and flaky, the mapo tofu was spiced just right, and the eggplant was cooked to perfection. Good amount of vegetarian options. They also texted me 10 min before our reservation that our table was ready, which was appreciated because there was a 1 hour limit. read more

Come here and ENJOY! My wife and I have been to various cities in China over the years and have learned to love the food in each city. Chi restaurant and Bar has excellent choices of authentic Seczhwan Chinese food with a bit of an American twist! The presentation and flavors were just spectacular. Everything we had here was amazing! The mapo tofu with fish filet was my favorite. It was the perfect mix of spicy and flavorful, and I loved the fish in it as well. The fried rice was great, and I loved the spicy chicken as well. Everything was a hit. All the food came out quickly as well, and our waiter was very friendly and attentive. read more

There are about 4 stalls in the woman's bathroom. There is a separate male restroom so I'm not sure about in there.
