Came in for 2nd degree burns. Everyone was nice, it was quick, they took care of me for my burns.

This is not where you want to go in an emergency. The doctor did not examine me and said he could only treat symptoms not run any tests. Nurse did not use gloves and told me not to eat anything for 12 hrs. Doctor reluctantly gave me fluids and they left me in a room with a beeping machine for hours. I was so sick I could barely move. I had traveled to Mexico City and had diarrhea for 11 days and had not eaten a meal the whole time. I ended up having to go to UTSW where I was properly treated and given meds. Baylor, you need to shut this "hospital" down. Looking for help in the middle of the night alone and I picked the wrong place. read more

Do NOT go to this poor excuse for a hospital! There is a GOOD REASON the waiting room is not crowded! I went to their er in horrible pain only to be told their computer is down so they can't do anything except this ONE test. They tell me it's normal and release me, but when I get home I get an email that the test was NOT normal! So now what? I can see my bsw Dr in JULY! If you "can't do anything " then why are you accepting and charging patients? Then you screw up on the ONLY test you CAN do! Never again! I've been here twice, the first time for myself and the second time for my fiancée. The first time a male nurse at the er side called my named but sighed and looked like he did not want to be there. He was rolling his eyes and being all down. A nurse saw that and took over. We came back today and unfortunately we have this guy. He acts so depressed like he hates his job and has not smiled or anything once. All the other nurses are being kind and nice but when we ask him anything he just gets upset to the point we are not asking any questions and just want to check out and go somewhere else. We literally asked where cysts come from and he rolls his eyes, sighs and says "I don't know." I understand nursing is hard. But when it comes to the point where every time I come in he is acting the same way, we shall take our business elsewhere so we don't burden this guy with work or cause him any more rudeness towards us. People come here feeling their worst just to be treated like trash from a dude with a bad hairline who has to cover it with a bandana. read more

I have been here 3 times in last 3 months. Very compassionate and top notch. Dr Sartan saw me for low blood pressure and left no stone unturne. In today for possible gout in ankle. They want you to feel as comfortable as possible. Awaiting x rays. My hubby was here last week with 2 cracked ribs. P. S. we wated less than 15 minutes to be seen. Major plus. I honestly believe that this place is used as a training ground. I don't mean to make excuses for them, but No Doctors on staff (video care). Nurses come and go as they please. I have been to this facility in Murphy several times, so this is a cumulative review. The facility is divided in half with one side being the ER/Urgent Care part and the other half is the "hospital". In between are imaging capabilities and nurses stations. It's literally two hallways. You get brought into the ER side and evaluated then either treated and released or you get moved to the hospital side. The first time was several years ago when I thought I was having a heart attack. My chest hurt and my heart rate was racing. They brought me into the ER side and the MD there wanted to admit me for observation. With medication treatment of what I remember to be anti-anxiety medications, my symptoms stabilized. From the time I was admitted until just before noon the next day, I did not see an MD. The nurses on duty kept saying he works several hospitals and only come in once in a 24 hour period. Needless to say, I signed an AMA and discharged because by then, I was stable and didn't want to be there anymore since I wasn't being treated. The second time I went there was because I had fallen and injured myself in several areas. They brought me to the ER side with minimal wait. I honestly have never seen any patients in the waiting room any of the times I was there. They evaluated me, including imaging and determined that I had a couple sprains. They wrapped my injuries up and advised to follow up with my PCP. This visit wasn't so bad. The third time I went to this facility was in the beginning of December of 2022. I just had bilateral total knee replacement surgery done. I had been released the previous day from a different hospital. My pain had stopped being manageable with oral medications and my surgeon felt the pain block had worn off. He had recommended that I go to the ER to get some iv pain meds to get ahead of the pain so that the oral meds could do their job. We were taken back to the ER side pretty fast. Again, I never have seen patients in the waiting room. The MD came in and appeared to be irritated that I was there for pain meds. I showed him my bandages on both knees and the pain block ports to prove that I had just had surgery. I felt very judged as if I were a junkie. I provided all the information on my surgery including my surgeon's name. My surgeon was through BSW, so I assumed they could even look in the portal to see that what I was saying was true. I'm not sure they even had access. While I was there, they administered Fentanyl, Toradol, and large amounts of liquid Tylenol- all with my awareness. Once my pain levels dropped below a "7", they discharged me. It wasn't until I made it home that I realized that they had left the IV still in my arm. I want to make it clear that I am not putting blame on this facility with what happened next, but I slipped into a coma within 24 hours of being discharged from this facility. I ended up being hospitalized for 18 days at a different facility where they determined the reason I was in a coma was a rare side effect of a medication I was on that combined with the physical trauma of my knee surgery and with large amounts of Tylenol created the perfect storm for coma. The only follow up I had from this facility was the angry calls I got after I got out of rehab (to relearn how to walk/sit/stand due to the severe muscle atrophy from the coma) asking for the remaining balance of my bill, which was not high at all. Certainly not high enough to warrant such nasty angry calls. read more

Have had great experiences at BSWH. My PCP is based out of this locations and always accommodates our schedule. Quick, easy, and caring. Best part is there is a pharmacy (Scripx Pharmacy) right next door that fills prescriptions in less than an hour or provides free home delivery. I would recommend both of them if you are newer to the Murphy or Wyley area. read more

DO NOT go to any Baylor Scott hospitals! I went to the Murphy location and they were unable to treat me. Once they took me in, they indicated it would be an hour and half wait since they did not having anyone there on staff or machines to check to see if my baby was okay. Unable to provide any services, they still charged me $2,000 for "emergency care." My baby could have died waiting for someone to come. After disputing my bill, they claimed I signed a form stating I was leaving against medical advice, which they did not tell me prior to me signing. I was rushing so I could go to another hospital to get immediate medical assistance. They do not have any sympathy for you and will not waive any amount off the bill even after disputing my charges. Never will I go to them again and hope no one has to experience what I did during an emergency. read more

Well after reading a bunch of these reviews I was very reluctant to go here but the first place we tried going to was temporarily closed and it was closest. I have kidney stones fairly regularly and usually can tough it out but this one (turns out it's an 8mm) was more pain than I could handle so we went for help. I was sent right away although it was 3:45am so I wasn't expecting a crowd. From the receptionist, to the nurse Tommy, the woman who did my CT scan and Dr. Chung, everyone listened to and understood my problem as well as my history of stones and that the pain was worse than usual. They got a shot into me to ease the pain, read the scan and got a prescription in to the 24 hour CVS and had me on my way in under two hours. Of course I haven't seen how the bill is going to play out but I'm definitely glad with the treatment I received. read more

I know in my heart Baylor has the best doctors and I will continue going to this facility I just will refuse seeing that one provider ! he doesn't belong with the Baylor team!! THIS EMERGENCY ROOM HAS AWFUL REVIEWS FOR A REASON!!! Just got home from the worst experience I've ever had in a hospital, ever. I came in after almost fainting. My body was shaking, I had some pain and numbing/tingling sensations in my arms and legs. I was also experiencing some shortness of breath and felt very dizzy. I was very scared and visibly upset and couldn't describe exactly how I was feeling other than I just didn't feel right and had a number of concerning symptoms. Dr. Walker and his RN Shannon had an attitude from the start. Saying I wasn't being descriptive enough, dismissing my symptoms, ect. I stated I wanted my blood sugar checked. Dr. Walker snapped at me saying "When you come to the ER, we are going to do a lot more than just that." Almost as if I was being punished for coming to the ER. Keep in mind it was 9:30 PM and all of the Urgent Cares near me were closed. After they were finished with their questions they exited the room, left the door wide open and immediately started talking about me while I was still in earshot. They stated that I wasn't giving enough detail, and that they were extremely busy and had other patients in the waiting room with "real problems." Over the period of 2 hours that I was there I overheard the staff speaking negatively about other staff members and other patients multiple times. I also overheard one of the RNs saying that she needed more Adderall to get through her shift. My blood work came back normal aside from some anemia and my urine sample came back positive for UTI. However, the nurses did not even give me a towelette to wipe with before providing my urine sample and there were none in the bathroom. I have no symptoms of UTI. Dr. Walker suggested a CT scan to ensure there were no signs of stroke but I declined and decided I would get this done elsewhere considering the constant unprofessionalism and negative attitude from almost all the staff members. I left with a $500 bill and a script for an antibiotic that I most likely don't even need. Note to management: Bedside manner was absolutely horrific. Find new staff that actually has compassion and basic listening skills. read more

DO NOT go to Baylor Scott & White for an emergency. I went to Baylor Scott & White for an emergency one year ago and stayed one night. They billed my insurance (in-network) over $11k and billed me over $2k. I paid when I left the hospital when I was there. They told me they would send me the rest of the bill in the mail. I got a bill a couple of months later, which I paid. Then, almost a year later I got another bill and when I asked why they said they had found an error and I still owed money, so I paid. I asked if it was the last bill since it had been almost a year and I was told there was nothing else on my account. Then this week, I got ANOTHER bill for the same visit from a year ago. Baylor Scott & White is very OVERPRICED even with insurance that is supposedly in-network. Choose a different emergency hospital. read more

I rarely write reviews but I have to warn anyone who considers coming to this location for treatment. I received a bad dog scratch near midnight and needed it to be patched up. The work my doctor did was very poor. It literally looked like a kid could have taped it together. The instructions for care was questionable to me because usually you would need to change out dressings or the tape in order to keep it clean. I was told to keep the tape on until it fell off. Also the tape used did not cover the whole wound. Long story short the wound got infected and I needed to spend 20 hours at another emergency room. The staff at the new emergency room were upset at how I was treated at the Murphy emergency room. I really wish I could have seen all the 1 star reviews before going to this location. I am very sad I had to pay $600 for such a poor service. read more

Went here immediately following a wreck. Had pain & some numbness. They did ZERO scan, ZERO xray. In and out in 20 min with them saying 'probably just musculoskeltal'. Also the male nurse first said, 'well we have quite a few patients so your gonna have to wait a while" then could be heard saying I wasn't complying with mask (while already not comfortable, HIS main problem was my mask not being PINCHED at my nose). I was not in the right mindset but the nurse were very rude not only that while I was trying to get some rest they stood on the door of the room and were talking loudly about me. Went in on a weekday night, there were three other people in the waiting room. I told them my symptoms: coughing, sore chest, sore throat, body aches and chills. They took me back to a room and the doctor(?) I don't know if he was the doctor. He came in and listened to my chest and then left. He came back 10 minutes later and basically said "you're dehydrated and have a cough" and sent me home. Well, I go to another er today because I'm still feeling icky. And the er I go to today does tests and labs and scans. And lo and behold! I have mycoplasma pneumonia, bronchitis, and pharyngitis. I have never written a bad review before... ever. However, I am so appalled and concerned about what recently happened when my son was there for a snake bite. The staff did not even clean the dried mud (from running through the field where he was bitten to get to the car) off his foot before putting on Neosporin and a bandaid. They said if it was a snake bite that it wasn't poisonous due to limited swelling and ultimately called it an "abrasion," claiming he could have just stepped on a thorn and had an allergic reaction that caused the swelling (despite my son having seen the snake slither away). Although I knew it was a snake bite, I felt reassured that he was not in danger based on what was told to me. I paid the $250 to get out of there and decided I would monitor him at home. However, before we got home, his swelling increased significantly and he began having a fair amount of pain. After getting home and cleaning the mud off his feet, after which I could clearly see it was a snake bite, I called a 24/7 nurse line. After answering her questions, she suggested I immediately take him to the ER. We then took him to the ER at Baylor McKinney where they immediately took action and gave him excellent care! We were so impressed by the staff there! After being monitored for several hours, he was discharged. They surmised that it was likely a poisonous snake based on the pain, amount of swelling, and nausea that he had. Two days later he still has swelling and cannot put pressure on his foot and is currently using crutches to get to and from the bathroom. He is still keeping his foot elevated all day. I've called the Murphy location with no return phone call. I then called big Baylor with no response either. I am so disappointed in the system in which all of our doctors are housed. This Murphy ER doctor needs to be aware of the dire consequences that could've occurred based on his actions had the circumstances been different. If I could give a star below 1, I would. I arrived here this morning due to extreme pain on my side (turned out to be kidney stone) and decided to drive there instead of taking an ambulance because it was so close. Upon arrival, I was clearly in tremendous amount of pain and it was well conveyed to the staff of my situation. There were no other patients in the waiting room and I don't think there were other patients in the back rooms either. After filling out my paperwork, I waited another 20-25 mins and still no one came to get me. I was in so much pain, I couldn't sit and was walking/pacing around furiously. When asked what's taking so long, I was told they were preparing the room. There was literally no sense of urgency for an Emergency room. I ended up leaving and going to another near by emergency department at they took me in right away. So disappointed with this place. You would think an emergency room would move a lot quicker considering it's an "emergency" room. The staff and team there seemed like they had better things to do than address my emergency. Scheduled an induction ahead of time. They canceled 45 mins beforehand. Ridiculous and uncalled for. So stressful. No coordination.

Normally hospital visits are crappy for me. I absolutely hate them. But this was different. I waiting in the waiting room for about a solid 5 minutes before a sweet gentlemen (who I posted a picture of his I'd) wheeled me back. Knowing I had extremely flat veins and that they are very hard to get, I was blown away by how he treated me. He was unimaginably gentle and tolerated my anxiety and encouraged me but wasn't forceful. Nurses/doctors like these need to be moved up. People who can do their job right the first time, have outstanding bedside manner, and have amazing people skills deserve the best in this field. read more

Wow..... so I went to ER due to sharp stomach pain... I thought I was going to die. I really didnt want to go to ER cause I knew they would charge a lot.. but had no choice cause I was in so much pain. Fast forward, after taking shots and getting X-ray taken, doctor prescribed me medicine and I felt better. But was still worried about the bill. They told me I had to pay $1,200. Horrible service. I went there at 12.20 AM because of food poisoning. I was vomiting constantly and I waited for 2 hours for them to take care of me and no-one did basically. My sister asked them what is the wait time and they answered some patients are waiting for 5 hours and I have three patients ahead of me. Are you kidding me ? Save yourself time and go somewhere else. There is no sense of urgency from the staff at this EMERGENCY hospital. The nurses just pull the curtain and close the door. Won't check on you unless you go and raise your voice. The dr just ordered several expensive tests instead of the one ultrasound needed to determine it was gallstones! The first thing I said it was! Medicare patients are easy preys here. In the mean time the patient is suffering, throwing up and passing out from the pain. Didn't seem to bother them at all. When the patient complained about the blood pressure cuff the nurse said "oh it's fine" didn't bother to check it. After seeing the bruises and scratches, at the hospital she was transferred to, that the cuff was on way to tight. It wasn't like there were any severe trauma situations going on. From what I saw there were 3 other patients and 8 nurses! No reason not to expect the quality of care expected from an emergency room. Go somewhere else if at all possible! read more

This facility has some of the nicest people on staff. I came in with pneumonia and other complications from it and had to spend two nights under their care. The nurses were very sweet and attentive. It was my very first real hospital experience and I was frightened but they all made me feel comfortable and safe. I was given an extra warm blanket and then some hot tea with honey just to soothe my coughing. No questions asked. The nurses made it seem as if my mom was taking care of me. They are for sure the heart of that place. read more

I went to this hospital on Feb. 6, 2017. I had extreme pain on my right side. I informed them that I had this same pain in October and November of 2016. I had gone to Presbyterian in Rockwall, because at the time we thought it might be related to my age and being in menopause. My gynecologist works out of that hospital. We did rule that out during that time, but we never figured out what it was. Fast forward to February and I have this same intense pain that is a 10! I was taken back quickly (this was 11:00 on a Sunday night/early Monday morning) They did an ultrasound and said they thought it was kidney stones and didn't want to do a CT scan. They had given me morphine as well. The only thing I wished I had pushed for was the CT scan, but even when I ended up at Baylor Garland (I only went there because they have an actual hospital) the CT scan did not show a gall bladder problem. It took a HIDA scan to do that. The doctor was pleasant and helpful. He made recommendations to follow up with a urologist and to double check with my gynecologist as well. When I got my bill and called to set up a payment plan I mentioned my medical bills at Baylor Garland and that I ended up having Gall Bladder surgery. I had also been to Methodist Richardson (go to that site on YELP and read my awful review). The billing person suggested I apply for financial assistance due to my many hospital bills. I am still paying on the visits in the Fall of 2016. I did and was approved. It was an easy process. I am a teacher and have a good income, but with so many unexpected bills things were getting tight. I would go there again! read more
