Wow, What a changed here? This dental office was fairly decent for a couple years and then, BOOM! It turns into a shit sandwich. I brought in my updated insurance information. They tell me what my visit will cost. When I finished, OH LOOK AT THAT! your price somehow changed to 3 times what we told you it was going to be. Dr Rios is very hard to get along with . My first visit and he was so condescending and rude to me as a patient that I told him he was making me very uncomfortable . He proceeded to talk to me the way he was , telling me his office time was so important and he was loosing money and all I wanted him to do is discuss options . I finally got out of the chair and left the building . Dr Rios actually called me on his personal phone at lunch time and gave me a hard time , laughed at me and riddled me in the most obnoxious way . Very unprofessional , I am so glad he didn't get to see a dollar of my money . For him , it's all about the money and not your feelings towards your healthcare or your expenses . Highly recommend Dr Rios and his staff at Baymeadows Park Dental. Knowledgable, very efficient, listens to you, he and his staff are all friendly & easy to talk to. Almost always, like 99% of time, they answer phone when I call. If I do get their message, they call back right away. Great location. Just off I-95 Baymeadows Road. Had a toothache over weekend, they got me in today (Tuesday), diagnosed it, put me on antibiotics and I'm having a root canal on Friday. Excellent service! Been a patient there 8 years. I visited Baymeadows Park Dental for my wisdom teeth extraction. Upon arrival I was extremely nervous because this is the first time experiencing extractions. All of the staff were very welcoming and I was escorted to the patient room immediately after arriving. The dental assistant was very sweet and patient, she kept me calm when she noticed I was nervous. She talked me through the whole procedure and it put me at ease. Dr. Rios made the procedure quick and easy, also was gentle as possible. I was done in an hour (maybe) and appreciate the kind care I was given. My overall experience was great !!! read more

Dr. Rios is by far the best Dentist I have ever had!!! He did a perfect job on my 4 upper front teeth 11 years ago and the still look great today. And, he does not suggest or push expensive work/crowns unless you absolutely need them (as in my case with broken teeth). The staff is always friendly and my cleanings are always great (most recently Kathy did my cleanings). I drive from Charlotte, NC to see family in Jacksonville and always make sure I come and see Dr. Rios rather than seeing someone where I live. I just have 100% in him. read more

My partner and I have been going to Dr. Rios for five years and have had a generally positive experience. He was especially good at painlessly removing an impacted wisdom tooth which had broken off at the gumline -- I didn't feel a thing and the process took about 20 seconds. One of the few dentists I've visited who truly makes an effort to deal with pain and discomfort. There was one minor issue about three years ago with a procedure that I had performed (and been promised it was covered by my insurance) only to find out it was not covered, leaving me with an unexpectedly large bill. This was a staff error, and there has been some significant staff turnover lately, so I think that problem has been resolved. read more

I had an emergency and needed to see the Dr ASAP. I was in a lot of pain, I sent an email on the website and the Dr called me shortly after. They were able to take me in right away and take care of the problem I was having. Dr Rios and his entire staff is very friendly, nice and welcoming. I love the fact that Dr Rios took the time to explain things to me that I didn't understand when it came to my X-Rays and Dental benefits. I am very satisfied with the work done. I was recommended to see Dr. Rios by a coworker. When I arrived for my appointment, I completed all of the new patient paperwork and went on with the visit. I had my exam and then was supposed to go on to have my cleaning but the staff forgot to schedule me for that part. Dr. Rios was pleasant and explained the treatment plan in detail. The staff gave me an estimate and I told them I would call back to schedule my next appointment. I called in to schedule that next appointment and was told I needed to pay half of the treatment plan payment prior to setting the appointment and the remaining portion on the day of the treatment. I had my treatment done and went to pay the remaining balance and they told me I had paid it in full over the phone on the day I scheduled the appointment even though they told me I only needed to pay half up front. I went ahead and scheduled my cleaning for two weeks later and told the tech and Dr. Rios that I was having pain in my teeth from the fillings that were done. He stated that was normal and that we would check them at my next appointment. ( Prior to have the fillings done I was having no pain in my teeth at all). I decided not to go back to the practice after that. For about one month afterward I was hounded by Dr. Rios staff about making another treatment appointment. Also, Dr. Rio personally called me which I thought was extremely weird. I never returned any of the calls and found a new dental office. This all happened in March- April 2018. Imagine my surprise when I went to may bank account and saw that my account was debited by his office with no letter, phone call or explanation of why my. I immediately called the practice and asked them why and they stated that the amount was what insurance did not cover and that I signed paper work stating they could debit my account in the event that this happened. I explained to the receptionist that I had no knowledge of the bill. The worker stated that they sent 3 bills and a collection notice. I asked her to give me the address they had on file and it was the address on my license which was four years old. I told her that was incorrect and that was not what was on the paper work I filled out. She checked and stated that it was totally their fault as they had sent it to the wrong address 4 times. I was very upset and asked her why every one of the staff including the doctor could call me to schedule and appointment but not one person could call me to tell me that I was in collections over a bill that I was not made aware of. She was vey apologetic and agreed to send me a copy of the bill statement and also the paperwork that I signed saying that my debit card could be debited for future bills. I have yet to receive that information. I also suggested that they may need to get an outside billing company so that these errors will not happen to other patients. I have worked in the medical field for 12 years and know how insurance/ billing works and this was an error on the office's part. read more

Dr. RIOS is the most gentle, caring, HONEST dentist in Jacksonville. He will not work on you unless you are completely numb. He will never do any procedures unless they are absolutely necessary. Dr. Rios is the BEST dentist I have ever had. He is incredibly down to earth and makes you feel very comfortable. As a dentist, he does incredible work. He performed a root canal for me some years back and when I visit a new dentist (b/c of moving twice), they always mention what a nice job he did. In addition, the root canal was painless!
