I was switching from a previous dentist so I had a lot of questions especially one important question - insurance coverage. So I call to make an appointment and I'm told new patients have to come in for two appointments almost back to back. Ok a little different but whatever. I also make sure to ask that they except my insurance. She says yes they do so wonderful I am a happy customer. The first visit is to be a very thorough visit with all kinds of photos and things that I have never done before. The second visit would be for the cleaning. Well the receptionist called me a few days before my visit and asked if I could stay for the cleaning. I was a bit confused as this was to happen on the 2nd visit but it wasn't a problem and I told her I could stay. I asked once again if they had checked with my insurance company and she said yes everything was good. So on the day of my appointment, I check in and then the office manager calls me back to her office. Weird. She lets me know that they are Out-of-Network and she is not sure how much will be covered by my insurance and how much I will owe. So I was not happy and it did not give me a good first impression or visit. I will say the hygienist who cleaned my teeth and apologized profusely was very nice and so was the dentist. I think the front office needs to be upfront and do a better job. Maybe this is their way of getting people in there and getting money. The jury is still out if I will go back. It will depend on when I receive my bill and see how much I owe. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Townsend at Ponte Vedra Complete Dentistry since I first moved to Florida. He is a great dentist with a great team of dental hygienists, dental assistants and front office staff. I have always felt very comfortable going to see Dr. Townsend and his team, even with my now less then perfect teeth they always treat me and everyone else who comes through there doors with respect and a smile:-). Lately I've been having to have a lot of work done on my teeth to get them back into tip top shape from before I had Ulcerative Colitis and had to take long term steroids(which are well known to destroy your bones). I ended up having my colon removed thus taking care of my UC for now, but ended up with severe bone damage to my teeth and developing osteopenia. At first I was scared that I was going to wind up toothless at an early age and embarrassed to show Dr. Townsend the state of my mouth, but he quickly put my fears to rest and came up with a treatment plan that will soon have my teeth looking good as new:-). Up first was getting a new set of front veneers bc when I was 5 I had half of my front tooth knocked out by a basketball. I also come in for cleanings every couple months instead of the normal twice a year to ensure my gums stay healthy(yes Dr. Townsend always has me on happy gas when I come in for a cleaning or a procedure, I have sensitive teeth and it's the only way I'd probably show up), I've had some fillings done as well. I went in on Monday for a cracked tooth, and yesterday they had me in to see an oral surgeon to fix the issue! I can't wait till Dr. Townsend finishes putting my smile back to the way it was! The best part is you know that he is doing a great job bc he won't rush to try and get you in and out:-). I had no problem recently visiting Dr. Townsend immediately following the Covid - 19 pandemic. The office is clean, bright, and infection protocol is impeccably followed. He has surrounded himself with professional and competent people who obviously enjoy working there, as demonstrated by their demeanor. I was told on multiple occasions they were an in-network provider covered under my insurance. Once I received my bill it was clear my visits were not in network. Since then I have switched to an in-network provider resulting in a significantly lower out of pocket cost. read more

I saw one of the dental hygienists and Dr. Harth, and can say this was my best experience at a dentist. They quickly diagnosed a problem with my bite that my previous dentist did not detect, and the tooth sensitivity that I'd experienced for two years is gone. I am very picky about my dentists but Dr. Harth takes the cake. Absolutely amazing experience and gave great advice like he would want for himself or family.
