A bunch of the photos on here are flat out not this property. This is a motel, no bones about it. The room doors open to the parking lot. Very insecure and lots of these photos are misleading making it look like a secure single front entrance and then secure room entrances from inside the building. This is not the case. read more

My husband & I had come out for a memorial service for his step daughter . We drove from California and it was a long tiring drive especially because we were both not feeling well! Unfortunately, we had to move our room each night due to problems with the rooms. It was difficult enough being there for the memorial of my husband's child, but also that neither one of us were feeling good and having to move room to room made things worse! This shouldn't have happen in any hotel! The hotel is older and is quite rundown in some areas it needs improvement! The hotel itself is not bad as far as layout with pool in middle and nice plants but in whole , it definitely needs some work to repair those things . On the other hand, the day crew each day were outstanding, and several employees went out of their way to do what they could to accommodate. The number one person there was Amy, she was outstanding in every way Customer service oriented and very friendly, and did what she could to accommodate . There was also Shaunna, who was informative regarding the town and Nick who was very good in the kitchen and helped me to room with some food without me asking. He saw the need to help and offered! If it wasn't for those employees, our time with you guys would've been extremely bad & a disappointment. read more

Negative stars!! Let me just list ALL the things wrong with our room: No fridge. No microwave. No hairdryer. No luggage rack. Coffee maker had a used filer in it. Floor was dirty. Sink had soap residue. Pillow was missing a case . Phone doesn't work. Good: Smart TV (great with kids). Heater worked. New flooring in main room looks nice. The next day they finally moved us to another room with NO HEATER! Mind you, it's going to be 24 degrees tonight. We checked out and went to the Hampton Inn by Hilton. Oh man, what a disappointing place to stay. I hate giving low reviews when businesses are trying to get back on their feet again but this place is two-star all the way with very few exceptions. I'll start out with what's good about this place. Very friendly and efficient front desk staff. Housekeeping does the best with what they have to work with. Good water pressure in the shower. Good breakfast burritos. OK, now why it gets two stars. Very rundown rooms. Sockets were worn out by the beds, could hear children constantly running upstairs (so much so the thin walls shook), gross stains on the curtains, bloodstain on the bedspread, funky wiring behind the fridge, bathroom door wouldn't open all the way, closet sliding doors off their hinges, super slow wifi, only one small regular coffee urn for the entire hotel, some shady people staying there, and a very small breakfast area in the lobby. This place is worn out, dated, in ill repair, and dingy. We very much regretted our decision to book a room here. Never again, that's for sure. read more

Would have easily been a 4 star review - except for one issue. Pros: friendly staff, great central location to Mesa Verde National Park and restos / stores in town, comfy beds and big rooms, fridge / freezer / coffee maker, and good water pressure / hot water. Also hot egg, cheese, and sausage or bacon breakfast burritos - no veggie ones available - but plentiful bars, hard boiled eggs and fruit also served for takeaway breakfast, which is generous during covid times especially at this nightly rate. Has a washer/dryer on site ($2/load), though 1 washer is broken - and a big communal patio deck you can use to eat takeaway / relax. Didn't use the pool / jacuzzi but families seemed to be enjoying it. Pet friendly. Con: We had an external room, facing the rear parking lot on the ground floor. We believe the cleaning staff leaves the room door wide open while they clean which allows SO many bugs to enter the room. When we checked in, we spent 20-30 minutes swatting and killing 5 house flies, and 2 mosquitoes (that we saw) and 1 form of ground critter (pincher bug??). The next morning, we saw the housekeeping staff clean the room next to us with the cart holding the door wide open. Mentioned the issue to the front desk - they seemed to be aware, because he asked if we had an exterior facing room - but he said he would look into it. read more

This was a fine place. We reserved a 2-Queen room. When we came the parking seemed entirely free so not sure how much was the place occupied but the rooms were quite nice and spacious. There was a mini fridge in the room with a microwave and a small dining table. There is a small pool on the property. In the morning when we went for breakfast at 9:15 am, they had already picked away the breakfast which was supposed to end at 10:00 am. In a 2 Queen room we were 4 guys but just one set of shampoo and conditioner and just 3 towels. Again when we went to get more towels, the lady at the reception says 'I don't have towels, you can go and find housekeeping on the property.' When asked where can we find housekeeping she told us we should go to some room where we might find. So customers are left to find their amenities on their own. read more

I stayed at the Baymont Cortez on Friday 18Apr25 and Saturday 19Apr25. I booked through the Wyndham App as a rewards member. I chose and paid more for a suite that claimed to have a hot tub in it. When I got there, the room only had a filthy jetted bath tub. I was insulted by the counter clerk multiple times. Both the franchise owners and Wyndham refused to discuss the issue with me. THIS WAS A CLASSIC CRIMINAL BAIT AND SWITCH PLUS EXTREMELY POOR SND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Avoid this motel and all Wyndham properties UNLESS YOU LOVE TO BE RIPPED OFF AND INSULTED! read more

We stayed two nights here due to its proximity to Mesa Verde NP (about 10 miles away). The hotel and room were rundown and dingy. I don't expect much for $148/night. There was a fridge, coffee maker and microwave in the room which came in handy. On our second night, our room wasn't cleaned. I called the front desk, and she snippily read off a paper that only after a third night (and by request) someone would come clean the room. Ok then, "Can I have some more towels?" "Yes, come pick them up at the front desk yourself." I am far from a princess (ok, some may disagree with that statement), but WHAT?!? I thought it was strange the gym was not open but the indoor pool and spa were, and with a good amount of people in them. I got a kidney stone while camping in Mesa Verde NP and had to drive out to the ER in Cortez around 3am. I was released around 5:30am and needed to get a hotel room to recover (rather than going back to my tent). We started going from hotel to hotel as we saw them but no one had any vacancy until we reached the Baymont. ***Amy*** was working the front desk and was so helpful in getting us checked in and settled. I was in such pain I was happy to pay for a full night to stay from 6:00am until checkout, but Amy arranged to get us 50% off that first night, as well as a discount on the following night (we actually ended up staying a 3rd night the hotel was so comfortable). ***Amy*** also lent a sympathetic ear to my wife who was trying to manage the situation, giving her advice on walk-in clinics and pharmacies. She went far beyond what we have come to expect in the hospitality industry. The room (2 queen suite) #315 was a clean and large corner room on the top floor. With COVID they are not cleaning every day, which is fine by us. We were able to get as many garbage liners and towels as we needed. Would definitely stay here again when we come through Cortez if we can't camp in Mesa Verde. read more

Had a nice view from the back balcony, staff is nice and the hot breakfast was good, clean for the mostpart. Biggest negatives are how dated it is, and the air conditioning is loud and insufficient. It didn't get comfortably cold enough at night till about 2am, so I couldn't get to bed till then, didn't get a good night's rest.... I picked this place because of the breakfast reviews, but the small pot of green chili was gone by 730, with no refills. But the waffles, eggs and sausage were good. Decent stay if you're visiting Mesa Verde NP. Don't expect much here though, it's just a place to sleep and shower. Very weird how they had connecting doors to another room. The room had several maintenance and cleanliness issues that made the stay uncomfortable. There were mismatched paint touch-ups on the walls, nearly empty toiletries, and damp spots on the carpet. A large gap under the door let in noise and light, and the tub wouldn't drain properly and even with the hot water turn on high I still had to take a cold shower. The fridge didn't work initially but was replaced after I contacted the front desk. Trim pieces were broken and left in the room, and multiple cords were plugged into a single outlet using a low-quality splitter. Additionally, the fridge and an unplugged microwave were awkwardly placed in front of the only mirror, making the space feel cluttered and poorly arranged. Breakfast was served cold, and several items were either not working or not restocked, which was disappointing. The parking lot was in poor condition, though there was generally space available. However, considering the overall experience, the cost didn't feel justified. read more

The first night in a hotel, after traveling 15 hours to get there, should be restful and rejuvenating. This place is whatever is the opposite of that. More like aggravating and then infuriating No matter how early you have to rise tomorrow, you are not permitted to sleep before 10pm. That's because the indoor pool is surrounded by three floors of rooms that are subjected to choking chlorine fumes and screaming children until,... " Sorry, sir, we can't stop them from screaming til 10pm." No room is spared this cacophony. Somebody even brought two yapping dogs to the pool to bark at the screeching children! We were given a top-floor room, at a dear price, but, " sorry, elevator is out of order". Can you call a staff member to help us with luggage? "We don't have that". Phones? Nope... ALL the phones in the hotel are not working. But, wait..... there's more. The wifi is "unsecured", but I guess you're gonna be safe from hackers since the unsecured wifi is glacially slow! Don't bother trying to adjust the air conditioner fan speed..... it has one working speed.... "Wind Tunnel". Covid protocols here are non-existent, other than some signs that say, "Masks are Mandatory", but only one single staff member was wearing one (the "new girl") so the guests didn't bother either. Though I could go on, let me mention one more aggravation.... The rooms all have exterior lighting outside the windows that cannot be contained by the drapes. It reminds me of a prison searchlight.... so don't expect a restful sleep, even if those kids ever stop screaming. read more

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. First, when you enter the building, you can smell the chlorine that they use in the pool. It is an indoor pool that's cloudy as heck and freezing. It made me itchy from the amount of chlorine. On the first day, we checked in, and the elevator wasn't working. This was more than an inconvenience considering we were staying on the third floor and traveling with children. The room smelled terrible when we entered. Also, the toilet wouldn't stop running. The real kicker was the second day. We went out hiking at Mesa Verde and returned at 1:30 PM. We wanted to shower up and relax, yet there was not any running water. We spoke to Greta at the front desk. She said it would take 1-2 hours. We waited two hours, and there still wasn't water! When we asked again, they said it was out in the entire county. This was a flat out lie as I called the hotel and KFC across the street, and they had water. They were still checking people in without telling them! They finally put up a sign after I started telling the people next to me about the situation. We were going to stay another night, but we couldn't stand it. It was 7 PM, and there still wasn't water. We asked for a refund and stayed elsewhere. I must say that Greta was highly dismissive and unapologetic about the entire situation. Do NOT stay here. Keep in mind: you get what you pay for. The motel is dated. There are cracks in the sink, toilet, and tub. The lock on the door was hard to use...at one point I panicked because I couldn't get out. The views are amazing if your room is in the back but there aren't many restaurants in the area to choose from. The pool was open but it's in the middle of the hotel which is kind of weird...I'm glad we didn't have a room that faced the pool! The hotel had no control over this but apparently the whole city was doing a reset of their power grid or something and from midnight til 2 am the power was off. Yes, completely off. No air conditioning, lights, or charging. My husband said when it came back on it sounded like the AC was going to blow up. (I'm a heavy sleeper so I didn't hear it.) My husband said the front desk clerk was really nice. If you're looking for something nice, this isn't it. But if you're tired and need a cheap place to stay, it's fine. read more

The Baymont Inn is located off Main St in he heart of Cortez, Colorado and about an 8-9 mile drive to the Mesa Verde tourist attraction. It is located conveniently near a Walgreens Pharmacy, and a wide arrange of restaurants from Cortez Thai (very good if you need veggies and crave wonton soup), McDonalds, a Streakhouse, and a few other home style cooking places I didn't go to. The staff was reliable and the amenities were pretty good. There's an indoor pool (didn't try); a breakfast buffet next to that which offers a nice selection including 3 choices of cereal with 2% Fat milk (Raisin Bran, shredded wheat, and Kellogg's Frosted Flakes [they'rrrre great]), biscuit and white gravy, fresh yogurt, Danishes, green apples, toast, English muffins, eggs scrambled omelette style and a sausage patty. The coffee is actually better than average too. The breakfast seating area is spacious, comfortable and with a beautiful view of a mountain range. The staff are very friendly. Although the buffet ends earlier than most places at 9am, the staff will let you eat way after that time as long as you enter before closing. The rooms are dated but seem clean. The bed and pillows allowed for a very comfy sleep. The neighboring rooms leak noise though as an adjoining room decided to take a shower at 5:30am and it was loud (I woke up dreaming that there was a loud earthquake only to realize that dream was most likely cause by someone next door showering at a very early time. I was too exciting about having a room entry from the parking lot, especially with ramps that do not accommodate wheel chairs (see photos), but the room inside was pretty spacious and the TV had plenty to watch. I stay at the Baymont in Cortez every time I travel through Cortez and choose to stay at the Baymont as a diamond member. However, I was a little disappointed this stay as while checking in I noticed the clerk has a strong offensive body oder as well as his hair appeared it needed to be washed, the closet didn't have a hanger to hang my coat or a shirt for the next day. It was also a disappointment that the ramp for handicap needed to be cleared of the snow for the use of the ramp. It appears that snow had been thrown on it to clear the sidewalk. I am a fall risk, and it was difficult for me to navigate the pile of snow on the ramp. Other than the fact of no hangers in the closet, the room was clean and smelled clean. I will stay again when traveling this direction, but I would like to see the issues pointed out to be addressed. Thus the reason I didn't give a 5 star review. read more

Overall this was a very clean and comfortable hotel. And I'm a little picky. We upgraded a little bit to the kitchenette suite and it was very roomy, pretty standard towels, we bring our own. Cable was DirecTV so that was good. Electrics did not use the electric stove, but the refrigerator was nice and big enough and roomy. Did work a little bit well during our stay and had a nice comfortable area to do that as well. And to top it off we have nice views of the mountains from our room. The continental breakfast was pretty good, yogurts, egg sandwiches that you put in the microwave, oatmeal, cereal for the kids, or big kids. Did not swim in the pool because it had that chlorine smell. But that's just us. We saw many children and adults enjoying the pool and jacuzzi. read more

We had moved away from the area and were coming back to tie up loose ends and had expected an online reservation to be honored. Reservation was paid for and booked through the hotel's website, but we were refused because of a local ID (waiting on a new drivers license from our new state of residence). Last night I reserved a room for my daughter in law and my son to stay after an emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. They were going to stay in the hotel, so they didn't have to go home to the kids, just for one night of recovery after this emotional and physically draining experience. My kids are well respected in this community, but we're turned away when they arrived at the hotel, because they at LOCALS. This is how they treat locals to need. We booked this hotel for two nights at the last minute because it was clearly going to be too cold to camp in Mancos. The hotel is located about a 10 minute drive from the entrance of Mesa Verde NP, which was convenient for my family. The good: The price and location are good. We got a room for $111/night on a holiday weekend. And it's close to the NP and hiking. Rooms were a good size and beds were fairly comfy. There's a decent, hearty breakfast included. There's a pool and hot tub, which the kids enjoyed. Check in was pretty easy and the staff was nice. What needs work: Our room was overwhelming musty. It needed to be aired out or something. Carpet is old. It clearly used to be a smoking room (hotel is all non-smoking now). The key card locks are fussy and our neighbor had trouble with hers. Disconcerting! All in all, not bad, but rooms need to be redone and de-mustified. read more

Apparantely only the kids who parents actually pay have to watch their kids. The housekeepers kids have been swimming unsupervised for hours and just broke my wifes goggles and would not give the goggles back to her. You are not greeted here, you are interrogated. by an unfriendly, unmasked woman who starts off by asking if you smoke, if you have pets, asks you to initial and sign a document to that effect. So, they're concerned about their property. But not so much about you. This is attested by the fact that not one employee was wearing a mask, in contravention of the current state law. Regardless of how you feel about masking in general, it has become a standard in the hotel industry, a way that a hotel signals that they care about their customers' welfare. This probably reflects Wyndham corporate policy and is a good reason to avoid this franchise. read more

I'm glad I was staying here for only one night. We were checked in by a very nice, accommodating employee. The hotel looked a little outdated and run down, but decent (I didn't want to judge too quickly). The good & bad - rooms were large, rooms were surface clean but had an overall dirty feel and very worn. The bathroom door had a hole in the back, sink didn't drain well, bed was comfortable, toilet had to be flushed with handle held down a long, long time, door to room didn't close on its own and the door handle had to be pulled up to open door (this took us a bit to figure out), pool was nice, breakfast was huge and there was a very large room for seating as well as outdoor seating, they ran out of many items at breakfast and never replenished like biscuits & gravy, pool party at 3am woke us up but front desk employee took care of it pretty quickly after we called, 10am employee Shelly was rude and hung up on me when I asked if they had any salt I would be able to use. It was clear I was bothering her. I've heard they have updated rooms. Not sure if they're better or not, but if you end up staying here you should at least ask. read more

What a nice find in Cortez! We were lead here by fellow Yelpers after a long day of driving, and as usual we were not let down. Check-in was super quick and we were in our room in less than 10 minutes. With our AAA discount our room was around $82...so not bad. The room was a nice size. Standard hotel room set-up, just lots more room than usual. Not super modern, but good just the same. Room was clean and the beds were comfy. As others mentioned the toiletries we not plentiful (shampoo only, two small soaps) - but there were good. Random note, the soaps were San Francisco Soap Company - which in my book was a nice touch. The courtyard pool area was really cute - just as others had mentioned it. But I have to be honest, we probably would not have used the pool or hot-tub as they didn't look the cleanest (could have just been that they were older). Breakfast was good, and the breakfast room was great...one of the biggest I have seen in a while. Standard hotel breakfast stuff with a few additions. Waffles are always a plus when traveling with my three-year-old, so again no let down here! Free wi-fi rounded out a good road trip experience.
