This hotel is greedy and has a terrible corporate structure. We stayed there on a Friday night, woke up to snow and were told that the roads out of town were closed. So we went and talked to the front desk and let them know we wanted to check out, but that we couldn't obviously since the roads were closed. Check out time was 11 o'clock, we were waiting for news to see if the road was open. Again, I went down to talk to the front desk to see about road conditions. At 11:40 we tried to check out and were told that they would charge us regardless even though they knew the emergency situation. This is a clear example of greed and heartlessness where a hotel refuses to make provisions for emergency situations like the one we were in, they could easily have made an exception. read more

Long story short. Kim is awful. Scheduled months ago for a wedding and called twice to confirm that a dog was coming. By the time we got to the hotel we were told that there were no rooms available for us. I was respectful to Kim and she was rude, and not accommodating at all! I have no idea how that hotel is still operational. read more

This is the second time in 6 months I have stayed here. First time, I was appalled at the dirty floors, torn bed foundation, and the trash in the parking lot. We noticed it appeared they were refurbishing, and we thought maybe a new owner? I wrote a review, which went to corporate, and I was hoping they reached out to this property to address some of the complaints. Apparently not. So few hotels in the area accept pets, and I guess some hotels don't think pet owners want clean rooms. I dunno. The floors still appeared dirty, there was trash in the hallways...it appeared the hallways had not been vacuumed in a while..and lots of trash in the bushes on the exterior. No breakfast offered. They do have designated pet areas, with bags, but of course, some pet owners think someone else should clean up after their dogs. Sad. read more

This hotel is horrible from the dirty rooms with pet hair everywhere and there must be bed bugs because we woke up with little red bites. My feet are black from walking on the dirty floors. They also offer a seasonal pool which was closed and offer a hot breakfast with waffles, eggs etc. but only provided nasty cold sandwiches with no list of nutrition facts gross! Find somewhere else to stay. Plenty of hotels closer to the middle of town. read more

My husband & I stayed here a week ago. I called ahead & made reservations for a room with a king bed while we were driving. Got there & checked in, only to find there was no elevator & all the kings were on the second floor. We opted for a queen on the first floor instead. The room was clean, quiet & comfortable. Breakfast was good. Everything was replenished as needed. We would stay here again, for sure. read more

With relatives in Tehachapi, we like to visit at least once a year or more. Baymont Inn (formerly La Quinta) is our choice. Our experience has been positive. Rooms we have stayed in have been updated, clean, and bright. The breakfast is ample. The staff are polite & cordial. The grounds outside especially around the handicap parking area could use some attention. Gravel and sand build-up not the best surface to walk on. We are sure this will get some attention soon, since the painters were already working on the outside. The new "Flying J" across the street is convenient for gas fill-up, Cinnabon treats etc. read more

This place is a dump. Broken flooring, gobs of sealant around a badly stained tub, noisy, across from all-night railroad traffic, filthy windows so dirty you can't see out of them, and so on. Staff were the brightest part of the place, but nice people can only take you so far. read more

We visit Tehatchapi twice a year and have stayed at the Baymont before. The pool last year was not heated and in need of repair around the coving. The towels provide were small and old. The hotel was just ok so we tried to stay again this last week on July the third. We arrived around 2pm to a closed off parking lot full of old furniture with no handicap parking available. We proceeded to check in and we were told that the room isn't ready until 3 pm. We asked if we could sit around the pool and we were refused as , guess what? The pool is closed for repairs! So here we are sitting in the lobby with an hour to wait for a room! We decided to leave with a " don't care attitude from the desk girl" We explained we wanted a pool and she said that if we decided to stay elsewhere that if we returned she couldn't guarantee us a room! Her attitude, filthy parking lot, and no pool we decided to not stay and we drove home! What angered us was her " I don't care attitude" and for not calling us prior to our visit to let us know that the hotel was being refurbished and there wasn't a pool. We will NEVER use a Baymont hotel again in the future! read more

One star is more than they deserve. I was going to stay in Bakersfield but I was with my mom and daughter and it was not feeling too safe. So we decided to go a little bit further and stay here. Checked in, got settled, went to bed, all was good. About an hour after we went to bed someone was aggressively trying to get into our room, like pushing and kicking the door...and they succeeded. I jumped up and asked what the hell they were doing, while slamming the clip into my pistol. My mom jumped up and slammed the door back shut pushing them back out and dead bolted the door. My daughter grabbed her phone to call 911. A voice from the other side yelled "They assigned us this room" and then they left. I called the front desk and asked what was going on and told them someone just got into our room. The front desk response was "oh really?". I told them to cancel all cards for our room, including our own so that no one else to get in. My heart was still pounding and my child was crying but we got back in bed. 11pm now and the front desk calls me and asks "Who is in the room now?". Why the hell would they not have this information? Computers are pretty advanced these days and my name damn well should have been in the computer for staying in that room. Got home the next day and contacted Hotels.com, they contacted the hotel and said the hotel had no mention of this in their log book. A manager was supposed to call me, that call never came. Someone from Wyndham offered me 15,000 points, which was equivalent to about $65, so I asked for 30,000 being as that I paid over $100 for this nightmare of a night. Never heard back. I have contacted the hotel again. I will go to BBB and keep on them for a refund or equivalent points to what I paid. Meanwhile over a month later and my daughter is still sleeping with me from this incident. What a shit show. read more

PLEASE READ before you book a reservation at the Baymont by Wyndham in Tehachapi CA. My husband and I booked a 6 night stay in July 2001. The first strike was: 1. We were put in a ground floor room where our patio door opened to an area that was a gathering place for smokers. We requested a non-smoking room. 2. The bed was a metal coil spring mattress with minimal padding. To their credit, they did move us to another room, but the bed was not any better, so they gave us extra blankets to make a mattress pad. 3rd strike: We were infested by small black ants that seemed to multiply, even finding them on our bodies in bed. 4th strike: The room itself was dirty, sliding door had was covered in dust. 5th strike: The second day of our stay, we returned to our room to see our door blocked open apparently by housekeeping. We spoke to the front desk about our concern and asked to speak to the manager. We were told the Manager would not be in until Monday morning. We checked out Tues morn, and asked for the manager who was to be alerted about our privacy issue, and told she was not around and would call us. We never got the call. 5th strike: we expected a nice pool for our grandchildren to swim in....pool empty and no sign of it being repaired. Website states seasonal pool open from May 31st to Oct 1st. 6th strike: Website states a free breakfast buffet, there was only a grab n go breakfast sandwich that can be picked up at the front desk. I will never stay at a Wyndham hotel again if this is how they are managed. If you decide to stay, take extra padding for the mattress and ant bait. The hotel bathroom was disgusting. The toilet had not been cleaned a a very long time. A toilet bowl does not look like this from one missed cleaning! The hot and cold water was backwards and also very hard to get to a temperature that wasn't scalding hot or freezing cold. Hair on the floor behind door and in tub. UnfortunatelyI it was "our fault" that we didn't inspect our room so we could change rooms that night. We got in very late and did not inspect, nor did we feel we had to. Shelly Kim the manager/owner had a sign at the desk saying "be right back".. 20 min later, no manager she came into the parking lot going way too fast. Another words she left the property with no one in charge! Maids had no idea where she was. She was very unprofessional, basically saying tuff luck and also discussing previous people that had trouble with her. Corporate office appeared to want to help but in the end no help at all. She also said her low hotel rate was because she had an old building.. maybe she should advertise this? I regret even having to give this a one star rating unfortunately that is the lowest rating available. read more

Looked like a new Hotel so from the outside it looked really nice. The breakfast was just as gross. Extremely watery eggs. Will never stay there again. read more

I was treated rudely and not accomadated by this hotel. I very nicely asked to get a late check out and was told no. I will never stay here again and I travel to tehachapi often. Giving this place one star, not because it's worth one star, but because that's the lowest I can give it. Number one, the advertising on the website shows a jacuzzi and we were looking forward to a Jacuzzi. There is no jacuzzi. Number two, for the quality of this place it should have been charged at a motel rate. Number three, the air in the rooms is great, however the rest of the hotel is not air-conditioned so it's hot when you walk through the hotel and it's hot when you're in the breakfast room. I don't like sweating during breakfast. Number four, I called in advance to make sure that there was an iron, and there was, but the ironing board was broken and it collapsed when I opened it up. And 5th so far, can't take a bath because there's no plug to stop the water from draining out. And the breakfast room has a B rating, FYI. I'm thoroughly disappointed. read more

Pricing was on the high side but it served its purpose. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Parking was plentiful and safe. The majority of the staff was friendly and inviting. The guy who helped the second night was a bit on the ride side but he got the job done in the end. They are pet friendly. I will stay here again next time I'm in the area for business. read more

The free breakfast was convenient but the room was constantly warm despite the air conditioning in the room being left on. After arriving in my room and pulling down the bedding......only to find some long head hair strands, I was moved to another room. I got an apology from the young man at the desk which I realize was all he could offer. The TV kept cutting out, saying no signal which was annoying in and of itself while trying to watch a movie. Do not stay here! We booked a room and had the pre-paid reservation confirmed almost three weeks in advance, through BringFido.com. Yesterday - the day of the stay - they told us (through BringFido) that the room was no longer available for us. They did tell BF that maybe they could accommodate us if we moved to a more expensive room. Otherwise, we were not getting our room! What a bunch of grifters! So unethical! We were broken down with our RV in the middle of nowhere with wind blowing 47 mph. It took 2 hours for the tow truck to get to us. I was very stressed when I made a non refundable reservation thru Expedia. Upon receiving confirmation I realized I had put in the wrong date and immediately called Expedia and told them my issue with wrong date and I was willing to pay difference of cost between wrong date and tonight. Expedia put me on hold to contact Baymont. Expedia told me they talked to Manager and she was standing firm on no refund. They advised me to talk to manager of Baymont directly. I did and was told that any time a non refundable was booked, no way it could be changed by Expedia or hotel, for any reason. Long and short of it was Expedia blamed the hotel and hotel blamed computer system any time a room was booked thru Expedia or booking.com. I find that hard to believe. I left the Baymont and found another hotel for the night. Lesson learned if what manager said was true. read more

The motel was very clean and quiet except for one train in the middle of the night but it didn't blast it's horn. Their were a few problems though. The heater did not come on, just the fan. The hot/cold water lines were backwards in the shower. No biggie except a waste of water waiting for hot water. The coffee pot had no carafe for a cup of coffee. Wonderful little town though but not walking distance. read more
