Drinks here are pretty affordable and you get all the favorite cocktails like the Hurricane and Hand Grenade. Drink at your own risk cause they are powerful and pack a punch. You may get some sass from the bartender but it's all in good fun. As for food, whatever cajun bar eat you're looking for, it's here. Boudin stuff, po boys, muffelettas, and the gumbo/red beans & rice/jambalaya are all delicious here. Everything I've tried here is awesome. The loaded mac & cheese is one of my favorites; get it fully loaded with the boudin and crawfish; OMG! Vibes here scream cajun college bar with some sassy fun bartenders and a variety of patrons here. I've seen college students, business folks, blue-collar workers, soccer moms having a ladies night, and teachers unloading through refills of wine and hurricanes. I was able to stop by about an hour before closing and asked one of the two ladies working there if they made their Cajun seasoning in-house. She confirmed that they do, and they offer both regular and low-sodium versions. I went with the low-sodium seasoning and decided to grab a few things to eat while I was there. I picked up two alligator bites, and they were phenomenal. Then I tried two Pepper Jack Boudin Balls, and those were even better. I could honestly eat those at any time of day and be completely happy with life. What really surprised me was how fresh everything tasted. Since some of the food was under the heat lamp, you might expect it to be a little dry, especially the alligator bites, but it was the complete opposite. The outside was crispy, the inside was hot, fresh, and flavorful, and everything had just the right amount of spice. It honestly tasted like it had been made shortly before I walked in. I also grabbed a smoked chicken wing because another customer told me they were really good. He was absolutely right. He was also picking up what looked like an entire platter of Boudin Balls, enough for a football party or family gathering, and mentioned that he comes here all the time. That definitely made me feel like I had stopped at the right place. The customer service was excellent as well and the ambiance is refreshing. I wasn't sure where the Cajun seasoning was, and instead of simply pointing me toward the back corner, one of the ladies actually walked around the counter, grabbed it for me, and asked whether I wanted regular or low sodium. It was a small gesture, but that kind of service really stands out. I also picked up a 9-pack of smoked chicken bites to try something different. Being a truck driver, you are often limited to gas station and truck stop food, and I get tired of that pretty quickly. Being able to stop somewhere like this and grab real Cajun food and smoked meats was a huge plus. I will definitely be back to spend some more of my hard-earned cash here. We started off with an order of crab stuffed mushrooms. Although the stuffing was tasty, as a whole it wasn't something I'd order again. I ordered the 1/2 & 1/2 - 1/2 poboy and gumbo. Food was just okay. The sandwich was dry, the gumbo was mostly rice. My friend, who we were celebrating, was disappointed with her food. When it came to the table she saw fries and asked was there an option and the server said yes, and she proceeded to ask her what she would have liked instead. However the fish was dry, the shrimp was overcooked and the veggies (that she replaced for the fries) was the highlight of her meal. Tigers was using very large mushrooms with caps that had opened. Better suited for sliced / sautéed. They were okay but I definitely enjoyed Fumbles more. The historic building is old and rundown. The old pool table was gone as well as the video poker room. The cubby with the autograph pictures and pay phone is just a dump station for lazy (or busy) staff.
