    Breakfast!

Awesome spot for breakfast. 5 stars for the service and food. Food order was correct, hot and prompt. Serving portions were in point. The pancakes were delicious and they know how to cook grits. Loved the local nostalgia and art on the walls.

Fried Chicken Breast (double breast), Rice & Gravy, MAC & Cheese, Butter Beans, & A Roll - YUM!

First time eating here. My family and I are so happy we gave this place a try! So sooo good and priced. We had 4 meals, all came with 3 side orders along with bread of your choice (roll, cornbread, or biscuit), 4 drinks, and 3 pieces of pie for $54. We all took 1/2 our food home because it was so much. I had the fried chicken breast (it was a HUGE double breast), butter beans, macaroni and cheese, rice and gravy and a roll. Other family members enjoyed beef tips, fried fish, baked beans, broccoli, cheese and rice casserole, fried squash, and cornbread. It was all great! And if you're a breakfast person, they serve it all day. If you like down home delicious country cookin', at a very reasonable price, this is the place for you! We can't wait to go back!

Sunday afternoon lunch. Simply delicious home style southern food. The portions are huge. The food is seasoned. Unlike cafeteria style food restaurants whose entrees are bland. The waitress are friendly enough and appear to be busy all the time. you just have to catch one to get a drink refill.

We made a road trip here a while back and it was well worth it! We had been told by several people to try this place. We tried 4 different plates. Our favorite was the pancake......they have a great pancake. The biscuits seemed homemade and they give you a ton of gravy and these were great too. Our Hamburger Steak with Grilled Onions and Brown Gravy was very good but also a little dry. Our Chicken/Country Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy was above average. The sides were delicious: Greens, Okra & Tomatoes, Macaroni, Fried Squash, Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes with Gravy..... The Cornbread was soft and a little sweet and delicious with butter. Overall a great trip and a great setting too!

I had an okay po'boy here, the fries were okay, and the biscuits and gravy were okay. Everything tasted recently unfrozen and store bought but it tasted okay. An A+ for service.

Don't order the chicken breast without getting it Cajun blackened, unless you want a dry non seasoned over cooked chicken breast! The fish were so full of grease they fell apart as soon as you picked them & were inedible. 0/10. After being here an hour, we were getting a bit antsy. Once we had hit an hour and 10 minutes it had gotten to be a bit too much. Our waiter came by and kindly let us a know a table of 12 people were waiting on their food and then ours would be out we weren't in a rush so I guess it didn't matter, but we were beginning to be uncomfortable! The atmosphere is also strange? There are grills outside the front door, flour and other items stacked high in the hallway, soap and toilet paper shoved on the floor under the sinks. It feels very chaotic and unorganized. We were given a discount and key lime pie & a cookie for our "troubles". Even with the discount we were still over $100 for a bad meal.

A quick look at Yelp showed Strawn's Eat Shop listed at number one in diners locally. The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.
