I went to Bayou Music Center on 4/11/25 for the Dave "The Boy Who Played the Harp" concert, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venue itself is a great size big enough to feel like a real concert atmosphere, but still intimate enough that you get a great view and connection to the performance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The acoustics were solid, and everything sounded crisp and well-balanced throughout the night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The energy in the crowd was on point, and the performance itself was incredible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dave really put on a show engaging, talented, and clearly passionate about his craft. You could tell the whole room was locked in. Staff were organized, getting in was smooth, and the overall setup made the night stress-free so you could just enjoy the music. Definitely a venue I'd come back to again. If there's an artist you like performing here, it's 100% worth it. read more

Been here a couple times now for concerts. Pretty good venue for concerts that won't sell out arenas or stadiums. Sounds better than those venues too. Obviously the tour picks the venue but I don't mind coming here when they do. It does have a restaurant/bar downstairs that is VIP named 40 Below. Tip well and your face will be remembered through the crowd for the next rounds. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If your seating is in the VIP area, each section has a dedicated waitstaff for food and drinks or if you are earlier enough and have a pass to 40 Below the couches are comfy and they have a very spacious area to mingle prior to any event.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Driving your vehicle to the event can be an experience if you are not use to narrow lanes and high curb drop offs. The entrance narrows and curve to the left, but has a steep incline so if you have a vehicle with low clearance be careful! On the flip side, exiting the valet area to street level is deceiving. The valet area lanes narrow as you approach the street so I HIGHLY recommend drive as straight as possible until half your vehicle is on the street then proceed to make your right hand turn unless you want a big surprise. I found out unexpectedly that the right hand turn has an unusual curb drop off angle and if you misjudge (well last just say, I am glad I was in a SUV with high clearance) otherwise I would have encountered so serious right rear body damage. read more

I was contemplating on whether to give 3 or 4, but decided to go with 4. I came to watch Scarface who had Too short also on stage. It so happened that it was Scarface's 55 bday. Being the legend that face is, and listening to all his music during the 90s and early 2000s, I had to get this show off of my bucket list. I had 2nd row seats in the floor level so, I was right by the stage. I went to see the recent Oneus concert here. The concert was absolutely amazing (11 out of 10), but the overall venue experience was not that great. I probably will not go back to this venue unless there's a concert I really want to see here. The parking situation was a mess, and the signs and directions were unclear and confusing. The venue itself was pretty disorganized as well. I got the boxed seatings (VIP), and nobody told us at the check-in that there was a separate check-in or that we needed to get a wristband for the VIP area until we were about to get inside the concert hall. The foods/drinks of course were extremely overpriced of course. The quality was okay for the food/snack options in the hallway outside the concert hall. The VIP menu was not bad though. We go the donut holes, and they were surprisingly really good, which was probably the only redeeming thing about venue. read more

I went to a concert last night at Bayou for the first time since before the pandemic. This place keeps changing names. Verizon, Bayou, Revention, back to Bayou. It's still the same. It's owned by Livenation (LN) and it is overpriced AF. The main differences post pandemic seem to be with security and concessions. They have a bag policy that is not consistently enforced. You can bring a clear bag (12 x 6 x 12) or a small clutch (6.5 x 4.5). They have lockers inside the box office if your purse is too large. My friend had to check her bag (I think she said it was $8). We saw other people with large tote bags and purses so they must have had a security person who wasn't strict. Concessions are cashless. It's plastic only. Drinks are stupid expensive (which isn't new as this is a LN venue). A single Tito's & Tonic was $16, a double was $22. The double looked like a single and I honestly couldn't taste the extra vodka, so I probably got ripped off. I appreciated the extra lime juice tho... The sound quality is good and the floor is very spacious. Most of the shows I have attended have been GA floor, but I have gone to some comedy and dance shows where they had seating on the floor. The Theater District was dead last night (probably because the entire city was at the Garth Brooks show at NRG). Some of the restaurants in the complex shut down so it's not as busy with traffic like it used to be. The parking garage (#7) is under construction, but it is open. It was $12 to park last night. I don't love the location of this venue, but it is a decent place to see shows. We'll see how long it takes before they implement another name change. read more

I went to see Andrew Schulz last Saturday night with 3 friends for my first visit to Bayou Music Center. Afterward, I decided that this venue leaves a lot to be desired. The entertainer was great but the facility sucked. The event was advertised for the doors to open at 6:30 p.m. with the show to start at 7:30. We stood in the line outside and it was after 6:45 before the line started to move. Once we got in and visited the bar for drinks we went to our seats about midway in the upper section. This building has folding seats on the flat floor area and then an upper mezzanine level that surrounds 3/4 of the space with the stage covering the other 1/4. Our seats were in the back of the upper level. At 7:15 it was obvious to me that only about 1/10 of the seats were full and this was a sold out show. It was painfully slow for the seats to fill. This was because everyone was getting food and drink after going thru security and the lines were extremely long. Of course they aren't going to start the show as long as people are willing to pay for $5 waters, $15 beers and more expensive cocktails along with the overpriced food! It was almost 8:45 p.m. before the warm up acts started. 75 minutes late... Then to make matters worse it was warm inside. Yes the facility was full (approx. 2000 people) and we were 25 feet above the floor but the ac needs to work better than that. Looking straight at the stage, there was a large screen behind it but the hanging light truss from the ceiling obscured part of our view. The truss wasn't high enough. Yes we could see the stage but part of the screen was blocked and remember there were several rows behind us that would be even more blocked. Beside the stage on each side there is another smaller screen for the patrons sitting in the upper level to see better. Now here is my biggest gripe. Why have the large stage screen and two smaller screens for the upper level but your camera only shows a long shot of the stage. In other words, my actual view of the stage from my seat was the same perspective as to what was shown on the screens. This meant no chance to see the performers' faces, facial expressions, hand movements, etc. All we could see was a person on the stage telling jokes from a distance (about 200 feet). What's the point of having the screens and a camera? A total waste. And had they been able to show closeups, the big screen was obscured by the light truss! I could have gotten the same experience by listening to this act on the radio. I thought about giving a 2 but after taking everything into account it deserves a 1. I hope to never go back. read more

I went to see a comedian here and sat in the upper area. I wish I had brought binoculars since I could barely see the performer's face. There was no jumbotron projector screen to show the image up close of what was going on on stage. It would have been nice to actually see the smile and expressions of the person I paid money to see "in person." No straws at the venue, not even horrible paper ones. BYOS if you need a straw for sensitive teeth! The venue itself is nice, organized, and clean. The downtown surroundings, not so much lately. There are homeless all over, and if you take the "back exit" out the venue it leads to a tunnel reeking of urine and people on the floor sleeping. Just be prepared, exit out the main entrance if they will let you especially if you're on a date. No pics since our cell phones were locked up! read more

Why 3 stars? Because this venue may be fine for music, but it's not great for comedy. --- --- --- I've never been to a venue like this for comedy and I think it will be the last time I do it. I have heard comedians talk about certain rooms that aren't great for comedy, but I've never really understood it. Every comedy show I've been to before I saw Tim Dillon here was great. And this is no referendum on Tim Dillon - I think he's probably the funniest standup alive today. This venue was just not the place for him or any standup. I've been to several comedy clubs and theaters. While a comedy club is smaller and allows the laughter to really reverberate off the walls, I've definitely seen comedians in a theater where the momentum is also really great. But the Bayou Music Center was not that. Even when everyone was cracking up, the laughter in here felt hollow. It was really strange. I was taken out of the moment all throughout the night because there was just a lack of strength in the collective laughter due to the acoustics. It's just way too large and spread out for standup. It can work in a theater when the theater is built straight up and everyone is somewhat on top of each other. This venue is really wide and it just messes with the vibe. The opener pointed this out several times, as well. I'm giving 3-stars because this venue might be a good one for music, but I don't think I will ever come back again for standup. read more

It was my first time at Revention. We were here for Lil Baby- The New Generation Tour. This venue was more spacious than I expected. We were checked at the door, went through security and all that. Upon entering there's a bar directly in front. I didn't get pictures of the venue, because I was on a Lil Baby high, I was more excited than the pre-teens that were there. Lol! But there were picture taking areas set up and people marketing and promoting products. We ordered drinks and then entered the open area where the concert was going to be held. The DJ had the jams flowing before the artists started coming out. We then became hungry and went to order food, we all ordered slices of pizza at 6 bucks a pop. It was good for what it was and it did the job since we pregamed, we definitely needed something to eat. The night was great and the concert was dope. They have upstairs seating here as well. The only thing that I would say could have been improved was the sound at certain points, seemed as if the music was too loud so it caused an echo or something. It was almost like the DJ had the music up louder than the actual artist. My visit in December 2019 was my first and it certainly wouldnt be my last. My friend and I are directionally challenged, so we did walk the wrog direction after parking, but we just got some extra steps in! A little confusion upon trying to enter the establishment. I heard someone tell some other individuals we needed to go check in at will call...I didnt think that was the case since I bought my tiks online and had an eticket, but I thought that maybe the machine was broken....that wasnt the case. Ended up waiting in line for nothing. When I went to the doors to have my etickets scanned, my login had expired. I didnt want another app on my phone, but I guess I could have downloaded and removed later cause I struggled to get my login to work! Once my friend and I were in, I saw a pretty massive and spacious interior. Black walls, so not very creative. A few stations to buy merchandise helped brighten the lobby. The bathrooms are much more colorful, but a very gross and disgusting person left blood on the floor! I was appalled! I at least hadn't stepped on it. Decided to throw some tissue over it so other could avoid the disgusting scene. Needless to say. I peed and bolted out the bathroom as quickly as I could! Although there were plenty stalls and water faucets around to wash your hands, soap dispensers and paper towels were sparse. In fact there were NO paper towels. Mind you this bathroom visit was towards the beginning of the concert I attended...gotta do better with attending to these bathrooms! The bathroom was a bust on cleanliness and convenience, but the actual concert space was very nice. The general admission area is huge! Being in the crowd with standing room only does help you catch the vibe faster!! Still, I think I would purchase seated tiks for when I feel like sitting down. The three hours on my feet are a bit much at my age now lol Acoustics were perfect and although a little loud the closer you are to the stage, they were the right volume for all to hear no matter where you were located in the venue. Large venue... Nice for concerts and large parties I suppose. Parking was crazy... You either have the choice of various high priced valets, street parking if you are lucky, or a garage. This venue had metal detectors... I struggled between whether I should have been scared or protected... lol. Either way I was appreciative! The only thing I must say about that venue that for the large space, there are not enough bars. The lines were ridiculously long. I give five stars to the act I saw (Mr. Ballen) and a lot of the personnel. I had part of my merch stolen while waiting for my Uber and reported it to Bayou Music Center. They instantly blamed me for having it on the concrete wall next to me and said I would not be receiving a new one while also being exceptionally rude that I still had my venue wine with me. I ended up just leaving because of the victim blaming, but I was discouraged by the lack of empathy they had at someone stealing a piece of merch from me that cost $30 dollars because I set it down. By the way, I asked multiple times if anyone had a bag that I could buy and everyone said no. So I had to carry everything in my arms and it ended up in stolen merch and zero accountability. read more

Went and saw 6LACK today. I missed a majority of it because I had to step out to the main lobby numerous times because there's no AC in the main venue and started getting really dizzy. Witnessed multiple people passing out because of heat exhaustion/dehydration. A lot of people had to sit on the outer area of General Admission because they weren't able to continue standing. The cherry on top? They weren't giving free water... they told us we could purchase a can of Liquid Death for $5 or use the drinking fountains in the entry of the restrooms and wouldn't even give plastic cups to drink water. read more
