I spoke with Ken, the owner, about getting refunded the money I paid for a bad brake job but he refused. I will never be returning to Northstar Automotive for any of my automotive service needs. If you need a highly skilled and fair mechanic, you should not bring your car to Northstar Automotive. Not only will they do awful work, but they will not give you a refund. Both times I've taken our cars here they have fixed the problem, given clear communication about what work they will be doing and how much it is going to cost, and they have had the car ready when they said it would be done both times. Upon inspection they noticed that an oil pressure sensor was broken. They did not notify me that it was broken and completed an oil change and added the differential fluid. I believe that it was their responsibility to repair or replace the oil pressure sensor - Neither option did they perform -Brought Car back to my residence and all of the New Oil had leaked out . I had to loan my son my only vehicle to return home down state -Consequently I had to miss a doctor's appointment because of their Negligence. The trip there and back was a waste of time. My regular mechanic repaired the vehicle, I would seek a repair place in the future that could successfully perform an Oil Change. I will never do business with them ever again !

I was given a few different stories about this. First, that CarFax was now charging dealerships $100 per car, second, that the car was a Chrysler executive car, so it wasn't available, third, they had switched to a different program, and fourth (after they saw the CarFax) that they only supply one if the customer requests one. The dealer was very evasive about supplying me one and when I paid the money and got it myself, I found information that the car had numerous repairs in its short 9,000 mile life. The sales manager was rude, telling me I must have entered the wrong VIN number. When I supplied the CarFax to him (after he said he would buy it from me) he told me that anyone in the car industry would have considered that a clean title. Sure, there were no accidents, but when a car with 9,000 miles needs new tires at 5,000 miles, a new windshield, new thermostat and new lug bolts all before it hits 10k miles, something is going on. When they were confronted about the excessive hard inquiries on my credit, I was told that I didn't understand indirect lending, although I had multiple lenders that I work with (at a bank!), as well as 2 other car dealerships tell me that their practices were completely incorrect.
