First time visiting Mac's Stumble Out Pub. There were 4 of us and when we arrived around 7pm,…read moreFriday evening we were able to get the last available table. The bar is not a big place but it was inviting and friendly. Took a little while before the waitress came over to our table to let us know it would be about an hour wait. We were fine since we could tell by all the cars in the area there wasn't going to be a less crowded. We were given a menu for Friday fish fries which is exactly what we wanted. We all ordered the 3 piece hand breaded cod which was only $11.50! You had a choice of baked potato or fries, Cole slaw or cottage cheese and you got a warm dinner roll with cinnamon butter on the side (regular butter was on the table). They were out of baked potatoes so we each had fries with the Cole slaw. Everything was delicious and you absolutely can't beat the price. We will be back.

We have a place in Lyndon Station and are always looking for a great Fish fry place on Fridays when…read morewe are up there. Our usual go to is Norm's(always excellent),but we also want to try new places, but try to avoid the Dells itself,as their prices are more just because it's the Dells. We decided fo a few doors down to Mac's Stumble Out,and it was again a great option to Norm's.As we knew,it would be very busy, and it was, almost an hour wait, but it's usually like this everywhere in the Dells in the Summer on Friday, so we stayed(great choice). All four of us ordered the 3 piece Cod,which had multiple side options, we all chose the fries option. We settled in and had a few beverages and caught up while we waited.Luckily,it didn't take the full hour(service was a little slow due to size of the crowd of patrons, but that was to be expected). Our waitress brought out all 4 orders and the fish was crispy and hot(only downside was the fries didn't match the quality of the fish,oh well) and good coleslaw and warm dinner role(with cinnamon butter as an alternative, included. The fish was awesome, some of the best I've had,and needless to say I ate all of it.We also noticed the $price, too,$11.95,very,very reasonable for the Dells area.We now have another great option close by.It was a nice & clean place, and if the rest of the menu is as good as the Fish fry, we'll definitely be back.Again only reason it's not 5 stars was the fries and tougher time getting additional drinks. Stay away from the Dells prices and long long waits, drive a few minutes away to Lyndon Station, it's we'll worth it,and less expensive.

Up at our place in the Dells area and drive by this place every time we go,but have never stopped,…read moretill today. We had friends with us for the 4th weekend and decided to finally give it a try.The place always looks busy and has a huge outdoor patio, and live music on the weekends (Wednesday through Sunday right now).We were very surprised it wasn't very busy given the Holiday weekend, but it allowed us to get a table right away.We were seated immediately and our server was prompt(she was it seems, also training someone). We ordered our beverages and then ordered, what else, but a traditional Friday night Fish fry that had large side option choices too. In no time at all she brought out 5 fish fries that were hot and fresh and some really good coleslaw too boot. The batter was crispy and the cod inside really had a great flavor(sometimes not the case) and breadsticks instead of the traditional rye bread,a pleasant change. Needless to say ,it didn't take long to finish off our orders. All in all a very pleasant experience, and good food to boot.We now have another great choice for a fish fry close by us in the Dells to go too.Good job, pretty decent menu selection as well, but that'll have to be for another time.Worth stopping for ,for sure.

We were staying in the area before graduation at UW-Madison and needed some late night eats on a…read moreFriday around 9pm. A group of six of us walked in, sat ourself, and I asked a bartender if the kitchen was open. There were two guys behind the bar. They looked at each other and gave a nod. The younger guy said yes, but we are out of the fish fry. No problem for us. We were served by the younger guy and he was friendly, attentive, and didn't treat us as second class as most of our group took water while I had a couple beers. It was pretty quiet when we arrived. We tried a couple apps, and a few different burgers and fried shrimp. Having read about the steak burger, we had high expectations but it fell a bit flat. Others mentioned a sauce, but there wasn't any in ours. The burger with bacon and jalapeño was a banger though! Onion rings and fries were excellent. The curds were good, but I've had better. When it came time to close the check, our server met me as I jumped off my stool. I don't know his name, but gave him a 25% tip. Wish he worked at my place! For the Dells, the price is very reasonable in my opinion. As we were leaving things were lighting up, and getting loud. I got the impression the kitchen was closing even though they say they are open late as the older guy was grumbling about only having two people working. As an owner of a cocktail bar I get that things happen, but I don't like my employees getting upset about it. The younger guy kept his cool - even if he was hoping for more. I do plan to go back for another service and ask about the sauce on the steak burger. Felt weird to talk about it before getting it the way I assume they serve it. Our son is staying for grad school so we have an excuse to try again!
