Fish dinner was good! Service: Juan was very nice and attentive. The new owner came in during the dinner hour when customers are try to converse and enjoy some time together, and he turned on a second rate sound system playing "rave"/techno music, so loud that we could not even have a conversation. He needs to learn his customer base at dinner time. This is a golf course community and people like to come into the place for a drink/meal and easy conversation. It's not a night club, at least not from the hours of 4:30 - 8PM. read more

We were in the area for a basketball tournament and we saw this place on the way to the tournament. Checked Yelp and like the reviews so we tried it out for ourselves. When we got there around 11:30 there were only 3 customers plus the owner but when we left it was busy. Service was prompt and attentive. The food was really good. We got different sides so we could try them both and give a well rounded review. I can't remember the name of the burger but it had BBQ sauce, bacon and and an onion ring in it. It was delicious and they don't skimp on the bacon. The onion petals were a great addition. The wrap was a good size and the sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly. This was a nice off the beaten path bar in the dells area. We look forward to going back. read more

So hard to find good food in the dells, it's all just ok. Read the reviews of this place and went off the beaten path over to this place. Was not disappointed for our breakfast at all! It's basically a small bar but they serve great food at great prices. Good for the family too. All the staff were very friendly and personable. Walked in with 7 people and we all left happy. The fish fry was good and it featured a baked potato as a choice. That was large and delicious. The atmosphere was predictable for a bar in the country. We came in early and we were hoping to get a view but the tables near the window were set for 8(?) people so we sat at an oddly wide table for two near the kitchen. So no view. And the table was so wide that we couldn't even hold hands. I'm a local and I was hoping to find another good place for fish. I will stick to my local favorites. read more

Decided to come here for lunch while skiing next door. Ski restaurant was packed and had long wait. Was able to walk right into Sand Trap and get a table. Service was great and friendly. Food was awesome! Had the nachos which were best I've had in YEARS, and the ranch chicken wrap which was really good too. Love when places have sweet potato fries as an option. This place is exactly what you want to find off the touristy path of the resorts. Great scenic view along the way, plenty of cows, and even some deer. The waitress was very kind and patient while I tried to decide from multiple options. She recommended a sandwich and said they are all good - which usually makes me suspicious. My sandwich was so good and the meat was really tender - just the right amount of cheese. I opted for the onion rings, which I liked because they weren't actually rings, which made the onion stay intact. My kids both got chicken options, which were also cooked perfectly. They got the French fries which were also unique and cooked perfectly. My husband said the burger is the exact type of burger he has been looking for (and he's really picky). The service was great; classics playing on the jukebox, though I'm sure you could find something more current too - plenty of games to keep the kids entertained. Reasonably priced, but fantastic food. We wish we would have tried it sooner! Highly recommend - come casual, enjoy the view and the food. Definitely plan to come back! read more

I've been coming to The Sand Trap once every year for the past 4 years when I go snowboarding up here. It doesn't look like much from the outside but when you enter it has a nice cabin feel. They have a good size bar and they also have patio seating. The customer service is amazing and the employees are very nice. I ordered the Wisconsin Cheese Steak and it came out looking delicious and it was nice and hot. The steak was tender and melted away inside your mouth. They also have you some Au Jus to dip your sandwich in but it was very peppery. Overall, great food and a great place to have a casual bite to eat! Food is Love, Love is Food. read more

Proprietor Lynn & her adult son & 2 adorable younger kids were perfect! Mention that you're Irish or Polish & get fantastic bourbon pours!! Thin crust pizza as good as any in the big city. Went to breakfast here and it was HANDS DOWN the best breakfast I've had in a long time. The hash browns were perfect, the bacon was thick and flavorful and the eggs were spot-on. Service was delightfully friendly and fast! As a side note: I live in Minneapolis and there are some amazing breakfast places there. Those restaurants don't hold a candle to The Sand Trap. Fun and casual; bar seating, low tables, high tables, and a cozy patio with an awesome view! TVs to enjoy a game and a digital jute box to pick your favorite tunes. Darts and other games to fulfill anyone's need for extra action too! I ordered a few Bloody Mary's. Delicious! Just enough kick and generously dressed with a sausage stick, cheese cubes, and pickle PLUS a "sidecar" beer :). Our group shared the jalapeno poppers, cheese curds, and Sidewinders to start and I eventually ordered the BLT with fries. They have this awesome pecan bacon and seriously the fries are some of the best I have ever had! So golden and perfectly crispy on the outside; warm and soft on the inside! Mike and Nicole here were friendly and fast, contributing to an overall really great experience. I will find many reasons to come back here in the future.
