So last time my family and I were here it was amazing this time things were a little behind due to staffing. I have no issues with that I understand however the hostess giving an attitude was not pleasant. My mom and I came in and were told "the kitchen is backed up by 45 minutes so you can sit but it's going to be awhile due to staffing" We said that's fine and sat. However the people who came after use also did NOT have a reservation and were still served drinks before us. So we said something' to the waitress. The hostess comes over and begins lecturing " I told you it's going to be 45 minutes those people only got drinks they didn't put in a food order yet" So I said "Okay so why aren't we served or offered drinks like them then?l" And she proceeded to say "it hasent even been 15 minuets" So I said "Okay well those people still came after us and were offered drinks. You said the kitchen was backed up I didn't know the bar was the same as the kitchen" Then she huffed away needles to say the waitress was very nice and professional and the food and drinks were good. However you could tell the waitress was uncomfortable and not impressed with how the hostess was literally trying to argue. Moral of the story it's common courtesy to take reservations or who comes in the door first in the appropriate order. Next time maybe just say sorry instead of arguing with your guests about a simple mistake you were called out for. I cons from a family of restaurant workers including front and back of the house. You don't just skip whoever you feel like when they were there first. Tried twice to go by boat (a 45 minute ride) and both times turned away with not enough time to get anywhere else to get food. The first time we didn't realize they closed at 8 on the weekend and showed up at 7:53 with a party of 12 and they wouldn't serve us. The second time we made sure we got there by 7 so we would be served and they closed the kitchen early because it was too hot (with no signage or notification online)....at a restaurant on the lake..... the hostess (an older lady) was rude and blamed us because we didn't call ahead of time.... yea think I'm done with this place. read more

The first place we take our company! The food is delicious, drinks tasty, ambiance unusual. It has the flavor of a 50's roadhouse, the kind where you go in for coffee or a beer and stay till closing time. Views of the lake and mountains add to the pleasure. We ordered a med well done burger with fries and the "special" of clam strips with fries. The burger was charcoal black and dry as a bone when it was served and the clam strips were so over cooked there was no clam left, it was all crispy batter. Thr fries for both of us were also overcooked, crispy little sticks that wouldn't even absorb or hold a grain of salt. We've tried many times to dine there thinking it was maybe just an off day and have finally had to admit it's just an off restaurant. The atmosphere could be nice but over the years we've noticed the same water stains on the ceiling for years and the dust everywhere is scary. read more

Went to dinner last night around 6, it wasn't super busy maybe 4-5 other tables. I had my toddler with me. Who just wanted to walk around the restaurant while we waited for our food. The hostess and our server were beyond sweet to him always laughing and talking to him as he walked by. Which I thought was cute. Then my food came, and he was having so much fun he didn't want to sit and eat. So I continued to follow him around while the rest of my table ate their dinner. (Not a giant deal for me) well the lovely waitress and hostess stopped our journey around the restaurant and told me "go eat we'll hang out with him" (around 7:15ish at this point) I repeatedly said no it's okay- as I didn't want to disturb them (baby sitting isn't their job). Well she scooped my little man up and began dancing and following him around the restaurant. And told me to go eat. Which I did. Overpriced. Went around 0530/6pm on a Friday and no one else was there in the main dining room. We ordered the NY Strip and a shrimp Caesar salad. First they got our side order wrong, and when we got the mashed potatoes they had no seasonings or flavor at all. The shrimp caesar salad had 6 small shrimp in it, and it ended up being 21$. Very disappointed. We were both still hungry after our meals. I feel like this place has so much potential, but is extremely overpriced for the actual quality of food you receive. In the dining room, all of the wait staff were standing around talking pretty loud which kind of ruined the ambiance too. At least 6-7 of them were being pretty loud. If the food was good that's one thing, but I would not waste your money coming here. I would not come back here again. read more

Went there last night. My husband had the Philly cheesesteak with fries. He had about one quarter cup of beef on his sandwich and about half a cup of fries., mostly bread. I had the seafood Alfredo which was excellent but I think over priced. Our waitress was great, and she said something to the cook about the amount of food on my husbands plate but they gave her a dirty look and ignored her. He will not go back there as this is his second meal there within a week and he didn't have enough food on his plate last Monday, and my husband isn't a big eater. read more

Let me start by saying it has been several years since going here due to our moving away when we had had many stops during the summer here with friends. We were again visiting our son and the family of 7 decided to stop here for dinner, but wish we had read some of the previous reviews written over the last several months. We made reservations and were seated promptly, it wasn't very busy for a Sat night during prime time. The place showed some improvement inside versus our last visit but still not what we would call a fancy place, more of a comfortable diner vibe I guess. We had a very pleasant waitress and ordered drinks and and a variety of meals, from burgers to filet mignon. My burger was very good though a little more done that I had ordered. One of the other meals (filet mignon) was way over done and had to be sent back. It was tough and way over cooked. This caused meant someone would be eating by themselves. The second one was fine but normally at most restaraunts you would receive some sort of compensation for their mistake. We explained to the waitress that she was excellent but we felt like they should do something. Next thing we knew the (so called manager) came over to our table as said the waitress was upset and continued to criticize our attitude. This caused a terrible atmosphere where we finally had to leave. He was very rude and loud. Our bill was well over $300 which was surely over priced given the quality and atmosphere. We recently stopped in for lunch. Our waitress was excellent, and the food was great. However, I ordered iced tea, which had absolutely no flavor. I told our waitress and she asked if I'd like something else, and I said, "Yes, water with lemon, please." To my surprise I was still charged for the tea. Also, my biggest complaint is the movement of the chairs. They just don't slide easily across the wooden floor. It would be great if they could put felt tips on the bottom of the legs, as I noticed those who came in after we did, had the same problem pulling their chairs up to the table. Great atmosphere, prices are just about the same as every other place, great fries and burgers, and fish sandwiches. We definitely will be returning. read more

Found this little spot on Yelp and thought we would try it. The building is from 1921 which still has lost of authentic and original items throughout the restaurant. We had the cheese and gravy fries (poutine since still craving it from Quebec). I had a Pabst while hubby had a tasty lemonade with Jack. For dinner, hubby had Vermont burger, I had bowl of Clam Chowder, and kids had mini burger and chicken tenders. It was all so delicious and the portion sizes were good. The server was very sweet and provided great service( sorry cant remember name only that she is a preschool teacher). We were all stuffed and tastebuds completely satisfied. We went here on a busy Friday evening and we're still able to be seated on the deck. The lake views were nice, our server was polite, and the food was very good. Two of us had the Vermont Burger, and another had the Gorgonzola Bacon Stuffed Burger. They were all very good, and cooked to order. All were very reasonable priced. The drinks were strong, and for being a smaller venue the selection was good. There was live music, but the lack of acoustics in the place made the sound feel a little off. Date night! It was a cold and rainy night, our plans of going on a solid date dashed. I've been waiting to check out bayside for a while, the menu has things both me and my husband will eat so it makes it a good stop for date night! Very cute lake theme and had a lot of interesting things to look at the inside of the restaurant. The service was decent but seemed to be in a hurry to get back to her own business with a boy at the bar. I ordered a watermelon margarita and philly cheesesteak while my husband got chicken alfredo and a root beer. The margarita was too strong for me and I asked for a little more pink in the drink to even it out. After that it was good. The cheesesteak was perfectly salty, cheesy and worked well with the roll. A+! Husband wasn't fond of his alfredo but said it was decent. It wasn't until hours later that I realized that we had ordered mozzarella sticks like we usually do. It never arrived and was still on the bill. Overall we would stop again but definitely check the bill before we leave! read more

This is a cozy place on the bar-side, with a relatively large food selection and full bar. There were quite a few nightly specials - I had the crab-stuffed haddock, which was ok, but under-seasoned. Service was excellent, and seafood chowder was very good. The four stars are mostly for atmosphere and service. The food is 3 stars, but nothing was inedible. In the summertime, the larger room with windows onto the bay is the place to be. Great variety of beachy cocktails. read more

Delicious food in a tavern atmosphere. This is solidly good food. Despite its tavern vibe, they has a good selection of food so chances are you'll find something you'll like. I got the salmon burger - a big meaty patty on a soft bun. The burger was deep fried but was not greasy at all. It was crispy, well seasoned and very tasty. It came with wonderful French fries and a crispy dill pickle. Others at the table enjoyed their foods too. The service was friendly and efficient. I really, really wanted to like this place as my family has had a camp on the lake since 1870 and I always support the local business if I can. But here? The food got in the way. One of the two stars I give is for the view of the bay ... which is awesome. Another star was for our waiter ... who was also awesome. The food ... was terrible. No, really terrible. It tasted like sadness. We started with nachos which was just a bag of generic corn chips on a plate with some processed cheese food melted (barely) on them and then a little bland salsa spooned on. YoungerSon and I both got the cheesesteak based on the recommendation of another viewer. We were asked if we wanted peppers and onions (which we did) but it was quite the hunt to find them. And the "steak" wasn't up to SteakUm's quality. You may think I'm harsh but they charge $10.50 for this really sub-par sandwich. For almost $11, I expect a lot more. OlderSon had the ham and asparagus melt which, while light years better than the cheesesteak, was also not worth $11. So ... I'd actually encourage anyone to come in for a beer and the view. Again, the waiter we had was great. Very attentive and super-friendly. Plus, based on the tons of sound equipment located throughout the restaurant, I imagine their nighttime music experience is pretty good too. So, avoid the food and you're experience should be great. read more

Had their restaurant special - Philly Cheesesteak sndwch and it was awesome, and what a great location...right across the street is St. Albans Bay - Lake Champlain, and with the water level so high, you can practically put your toes in the water from the restaurant...that's how close you are to the lake. Service and people were extremely nice. Disregard google maps notice saying they're "permanently closed". This is not the case. They are definitely open for business and I intend on returning again, soon! Especially on a warm summer day, sitting on the deck overlooking the bay. read more

Disappointing. Bayside has really bland food, portions are either tiny or huge, and the prices are high for the quality of the food. I wish I liked it more, as I love seafood, but for the price just go to Jeff's or Burlington. Also, there's a few really nice staff (hence the 2 stars instead of 1) but there also a few very rude staff. Overall just needs some revamping (both menu and staff wise) big time. read more

The only complaint we heard and pointed out immediately was very slow service. But once we talked to our server it was immediately fixed and we had an awesome experience. We usually enjoy dining here. However the last couple times we've been, we've had not so great experienced. The staff are very pleasant but our food took an hour and fifteen to arrive, and that was after three tables who sat after us got their food, and we didn't get appetizers. The portion on the steak tips was very small, the shrimp was over cooked rubbery and burnt, and the "rice pilaf" was just plain rice. Our friends nachos, which he ordered for a meal, came out with barely any cheese, and it was obvious they had been over cooked then just sitting out. They did offer us free dessert, but there was barely any recognition about our meal, and the owner never came out to apologize. read more

We've been coming to Bayside for several years and enjoyed it until recently. In the last few years the service quality has been steadily declining...but we've continued giving it a chance because we've previously had fun and good food there. Tonight, we had a party of 7 in the restaurant (with a reservation) sitting on the back patio. The restaurant was no more than 1/3 full. We sat there for 30 minutes with not a single server acknowledging us though they served other tables in our area. Then after i went to the bar to ask for a server to be sent over, we sat there 10 more minutes before we decided to leave and go down the street to 14th Star Brewing. We are not going back ever again...what a shame. Short term they lost out on a $250+ tab tonight plus a server missed a $50 tip...long term, they lost a previously loyal customer due to poor staffing and dining room management. This place needs to get its act together. Skip it and go elsewhere...the view of the lake does not make up for the poor service. read more

Very nice meal. My husband ordered pulled pork sandwich & asked for apple slaw in place of reg slaw. Our server Joseph happily made the change happen. Thank you, and I ordered the broiled seafood plate. It was perfectly cooked but I felt the portion of fish small. Went there last night with a friend. Was extremely busy. My date ordered a bacon wrapped filet. I ordered Salmon. The server came back a while later with our meals, and we both got bacon wrapped filet. The steak was well cooked, and prepared nicely with green beans mixed with sprouts, and mashed potatoes with squash. However, when the bill came, no adjustment was made for my 42 dollar steak versus the 20 dollar salmon I wanted. 125 dollars for dinner in Saint Albans? I don't think so. We stopped in for lunch one day after a very cold day outside at the bay. We sat right next to the woodburning stove which was so nice. We had an awesome view of the bay. Just beautiful. We got the Vermont Maple sausage stuffed mushrooms. They were excellent. For entrees we got the broiled seafood combination and chicken fingers. Everything was very good. The vegetables were perfect. Scallops, shrimp, everything was great and tasted very fresh. I think if I lived around there, I would be a regular. Everyone seemed to know each other and it just seemed like a really great atmosphere. When I went to the ladies room, I was surprised how big the place was. There was a whole big dining room, with a place for a band and a couple of pool tables. It also looked like there was an outdoor deck, although at the time it had about a foot of snow on it.
