Their seafood tower appetizer blew us away. Excellent oysters, shrimp cocktail, and lobster. Their yellowtail crudo and yellowtail dumplings in a soy sauce likewise were crowd pleasers. Their entrees were very good - especially the trout dishes. Service could have been slightly better, but was reasonably solid. The food and cocktails were good, but they were extremely understaffed and it really affected service. We waited quite a while. My spouse and I didn't even get to eat our meals together since it took a while to get anyone's attention to order his food after his appetizer... He was served clam chowder without a spoon. It took quite a while to flag someone down to grab one. The bar ran out of utensils so we just reused the same spoon for the poke bowl since it sounds like the kitchen was also out of clean utensils when we asked. Our bartender was constantly running around serving patrons (understandably), but it was confusing when the second bartender was zeroed in on one couple the entire hour and a half we were there while her coworker was drowning. We just arrived to the resort so we were looking for a quick family dinner. I had the Trout Piccatta and my husband and kids all got burgers (2 kids meals). The meal with tip was $194 with bread app and two beers for each adult. While the food was good the price tag was a bit overwhelming. LAST MINUTE VT CHRISTMAS TRIP SAGA CONTINUES. Booked Tipsy Trout on what day by now - truly, I forget. It's a blur! But we knew we wanted to ski on Christmas Day. So the Tipsy Trout is part of the Spruce Peak Village in Stowe, where you can ski all day, then go to your room and shower and then enjoy some drinks and dinner! We hit the slopes for the day and came for the bar waiting for my husband to wrap up his skiing time. My friend and I propped ourselves at the bar where we wanted to warm up with something warm - soup and Port! She had the Clam Chowder (it won some sort of award apparently in 2019) and I had the Butternut Squash soup. Both good! the Port also - delicious, indeed. HOWEVER. The Port was $32 PER GLASS. mind you, the bartender showed us the bottle of Port and it doesn't cost more than $25 PER BOTTLE. So, this was a huge rip off. My hubs and I half heartedly made our way back for a late dinner - the Swordfish was very good, and so were the fresh cut fries. I had the Veggie Poke Bowl which I found to be tasty and good sized. Our waiter Alex was also very pleasant and nice, much more so than the bartender that offered us the $32 Port drinks earlier. Had a reservation for 7:15 pm but they were able to take us early at around 6 which we appreciated! We were seated and our waiter Alex was amazing. He helped us with drinks and food all night. Honestly the stars are really for his service. This place is a mash up of seafood, some Japanese inspired dishes as well as full entrees like steak, fish, lobster rolls etc. We got the plateau in a medium and it was the perfect size, the oysters were fresh tasting and the chowder was amazing! Ambiance was good, relaxed and chill. A bit confusing as people were going to buffets at the alpine hall and sitting at the tipsy trout? Made us wonder about the buffet! Overall The drinks were fun, and Alex was definitely informative. We would go back from his service forsure. Which is why we gave this place 4 stars. Dont be deterred by the bad reviews but know what you're getting into. We had a party of 4 on a busy night during peak season. Made reservations several weeks out. Parking for non guests is in the main public lots. You'll need to take shuttle or gondola to the resort. This is kind of a fun adventure similar to moving around Disney parks (just takes some preparation). You can drop people off at the lodge front entrance, if you have people with mobility issues, then park and come back. Restaurant is central to the main lodge so easy to find once you get there. Dining room is nice, host & wait staff are pleasant and responsive. It's nice but not quiet, intimate, dining. Guests are mostly families who have been skiing all day. Dress is ski resort casual. The food was good. We had appetizers, wine, a variety of dinners and dessert. It was all very good. Our waiter was knowledgable and there when we needed him. Obviously not a classically (4 star) trained waiter but he did the job well. Prices were what you will pay in any resort setting. Yes, its more than Red Lobster. Its a remote ski resort, its going to cost more. The prices were reasonable for the food & experience. We had a great time and the overall experience was great. There are a few places in town if you want fine dining (Salut & Edson Hill Lodge) but Tipsy Trout is a great spot for a nice dinner in a beautiful location read more

We stayed at the Lodge at Spruce Peak and came here for dinner one of the nights and loved it!! The drinks were great (my sister who doesn't like Aperol loved this one!). The French fries were thin and crispy. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious, even came with an artichoke in the middle. The fried Brussels were also great, loved the creamy sauce that came with them. For mains, we shared the lobster agnolotti. Not too fishy at all and the cream sauce was divine. The tuna hand roll was fresh and the perfect bite. The lobster hand roll had too much Mayo. For dessert, we tried the Boston cream pie but it was way too cold and make the cake hard and dry. Our server was very friendly and ambiance was great. Music was not too loud, which is something I always look for. We preferred dinner here to Alpine Hall dinner service. read more

The food there was prepared very well and is quite flavorful. The staff that attended our table was very prompt and timed everything perfectly. Note that this is a restaurant at a resort hotel so expect the prices to be align to that type of environment. I very very rarely write reviews/complain but I can't express how AWFUL our experience here was. Our server was absolutely on drugs and literally left our table mid sentence multiple times. For how much money we spent for our server to forget my entree and my husband's beer is insane. Literally heard the table next to us ask him if he even rang their food in...and heard him complain about why he didn't get better sections. We're here for our honeymoon and this man fully ruined our experience tonight. So we visited here twice at our stay at the lodge. The restaurant is newer, with plenty of seating, bright lighting and a cute rounded bar at the front. Feels less for kids, more for adults, which I appreciated! The first time we came, we ordered a couple drinks and they were not worth the price. At almost $20 each, it was not worth it. The punch I got was not great and his blueberry drink (didn't remember the name of it) severely needed the lime on the side squeezed in to drink. At higher end restaurants you could get cheaper cocktails that were far better, so I hope they reduce the prices slightly. For food we ordered a clam chowder and the pork buns as we just had a disappointing lunch earlier at the Alpine Hall next door. The chowder was actually....surprisingly amazing. Spot on with consistency and great depth of flavor with the added bacon. Also plenty of clam in this chowder, so no shortage there. The buns for the pork buns were well steamed but the pork belly felt almost too fatty. There was no hard sear, and almost appeared grey and lacked flavor. Not super satisfied with those buns we decided to not finish them and made room for dessert. We opted for the sticky toffee pudding and MAN was it amazing. The cake was actually huge, almost too large for just two people but filling as heck. The toffee topping was on the side so we could pour to our desire, which was great because while I didn't want too much, it allowed my bf to pour more. The Chantilly cream on the side was so smooth and creamy, 10/10. A couple nights later we returned, and were newly engaged (yay!) and we saw our previous waitress. She was so happy for us, offered her congratulations and genuinely wanted to hear how, where and when it happened! It was so sweet to feel like she cared even though we were just a random couple. It added such a nice touch. Then we told our current server once we sat down and he brought us a glass of Prosecco each to cheers with, on the house! It again, really elevated our experience and made us feel even greater than we already did! The clam chowder was so good I had to order it a second time around, and this time my now fiance tried to tomato chipotle bisque. The clam chowder was still a hit, and even my fiance who usually hates clam chowder said he would get it. So clearly worth getting! I guess it won an award for the best chowder, and I fully believe it! His bisque however was not great. It did not carry the heat you'd think a chipotle would and instead carried a more....marinara flavor profile? Not something we'd get again. We decided to split the scallops and man was this the right call. They were able to split the dish into two, so they were small dishes but hit the spot. The scallops although not carrying much flavor were seared and cooked perfectly. And what made the dish so great was the scallops were great vehicles to accompany the other flavors on the plate! The sunflower seed pesto was a night bright flavor (which I could've had more of), the sweet potato gnocchi was such a surprisingly sweet and rich flavor, the parsnips were hearty and the spinach was perfectly cooked. This was my favorite bite of the entire night! Overall the staff here were friendly as could be, offering their congratulations or just constantly checking in on our experience even before we were engaged (so you know it wasn't just for show). The food is probably the best on property as well. They only didn't get the extra star for the not so great buns or soup. Hubby and I were walking around to check out the restaurants at the hotel after we checked-in. Tipsy looks pretty nice and cozy, so we made an reservation for dinner one night during our stay. Over priced and food not up to par. We start off with the medium plateau (seafood tower) to share, the raw clams and oysters were decent ( can't really screw up as long as they are fresh) but the texture of shrimp cocktails & lobster tails were rough and rubbery! We also tried the French Cake sushi roll which was okay, For entree we ordered the Maine Lobster Roll (rubbery) and Atlantic Stripe Bass was salty and a bit over cooked. We don't mind to pay up for nice atmosphere, good service and more importantly good food!! We spent $280 on this dinner and it was not worth it for less than mediocre food. Side note: We also tried Alpine Hall (the other restaurant at the hotel). Sadly their food weren't any better! What a shame, such a nice ski-in, ski-out resort but meh restaurants on site. We dined at tipsy trout last Christmas Eve and were underwhelmed but for some reason, we decided to try it again this year. I'd like to start by saying the servers are good, they do their very best. They were kind enough to bring out my son's Mac & cheese first but it wasn't even room temperature, it was cold. They fixed it and brought it back and he loved it. Another son ordered the burger, which was also ice cold and raw in the center. My son had taken a bite, they took it back and heated it up, but at this point it was too nasty to eat and still cold in the center. We didn't act too disappointed but the server could tell we were and said the manager was going to come speak with us, but the manager never came. The final slap in the face was I gave them my parking pass to validate, but when I tried to leave the lot, it wasn't validated. The place has so much potential, very disappointing. read more

Came here to celebrate my wife's Birthday. It started off by them seating us in the bar seats on the wall. The stool was wayyy to high for the table (horribly Designed). So we had sit at the bar. The bartenders were awful. Do not order a espresso martini. After one sip I ordered another drink and he asked if I wanted him to throw it out. After telling him it was my wife's bday he tried to guess her age. Mind you she looks young. Both bartenders played a guess her age together and she said 33 and then asked if I was her mom (we are 4 years apart). They should know better not to ask about age also if I femme couple is cozy, its not a mom daughter. We asked for the check right after that and they still charged us for the espresso martini I didn't drink. All together horrible experience and ruined her bday. read more

Maybe it's a trend, but it was terrible and we let them know. The waitress was apologetic and offered an unwanted/ unasked for discount. You had to walk through the sister restaurant to the childrens buffet to get food. The food was ice cold when my son attempted to eat it. Ice cold! (We were refunded for this). This is supposed to be a higher-end restaurant Which is reflected in the gorgeous renovations we are returning guests to the hotel). If I wanted buffet food (and there's nothing wrong with buffet if that's what you expect) for anyone in my party I would have gone to a diner. I'm also not a fan of giving my child food from a buffet where masks are optional for restaurant guests during covid ‍ We spent the remainder of our trip eating off property from the hotel... so many great restaurants in Stowe.
