I dragged my husband in to lease a 2016 Tiguan, a car I had been researching the last few years (in anticipation of getting rid of his old car), and not only did the car live up to my high expectations, but my reluctant husband loved it too. When I first arrived I met with Inki Min a sales representaive who was professional, curtious and knowledgable enough to answer any and all of my questions pertaining to leasing another VW Jetta. I later met with the Sales Manager, Angelo Alexiadis who's ability to discuss reasonable options for me to lease another car was truly inspiring. No hard sell or gimics here. As a widow and signle mother it can be intimidating entering a car dealership especially when you are uncultivated with respect to the car arena. They told me that there was nothing that they could do, and nothing that they even wanted to do. The deal fell through because they reneged on the contracted trade in value for our car and for their later refusal to attach the hitch, which we shipped to them and they never even opened the package, causing us a waste of money and time , when we later had to retrieve.Buyer beware. read more

Lock yourself in a closet by yourself and bang your head against the door until your skull feels like it will burst. This is more pleasant than dealing with Bayside Volkswagen. Do yourself a favor and just say "nein." Twelve years ago I purchased a certified pre-owned Cabrio, and discovered that the wrong tires were on the car. This should have been caught in a checklist but I had to call and point this out to them after a mechanically inclined friend noticed it. Then I find out they should have given me the title when I purchased the car (not even mentioned). The Service Department is overpriced if you do not have routine oil changes and maintenance covered. Even then they will find something wrong with the car that will cost at least $800 to fix. Sometimes they will even want to charge 5 hours of labor (at $125 an hour) to follow their "diagnosis process." I took the car elsewhere and had an issue figured out within minutes. The worst of it is, I had been consistently get phone calls and emails every few months asking if I wanted to trade in my car. Since moving to a new neighborhood with prohibitive parking, I figured I would give this a shot. So I left a message and later spoke with Angelo. He said they may not offer much but was willing to give the car a look. When I arrived I waited 15 minutes, and when he finally materialized in the showroom he asked me to fill out a form which took less than two minutes. Then he walked away. So there I am standing around waiting for another 10 minutes. He then takes the form and tells me "the car has no rust. A Japanese car that is fourteen years old would have rust." OKkkkkk. He asks me if I'm the original owner. Obviously he ignored me when I said I bought the car pre-owned (on the phone) and noted that I'm not the original owner (on the form). Then he ducks into an office to run a CarFax report. Doesn't invite me in to sit down, doesn't offer a beverage, just walks away again. Runs the CarFax and says there's not much on it. (Isn't that a good thing?) I remind him that I've been going to Bayside Volkswagen Service since I bought the car. Then he gets up and walks away again, doesn't even say "I will be right back, just need to discuss this", so I get up to follow him and he keeps walking away. Finally, he comes back and says it's a nice car but he doesn't want it. At this point very annoyed, I press him why he couldn't have mentioned this on the phone and save me the time. He said he thought it would be more "sensitive" to tell me in person, as if I sit at home all day with nothing better to do. Then he said they would offer me $300 and acted puzzled why I was miffed at him for leading with $0. Seriously?! This is my second - and last - car from Bayside Volkswagen. There is no loyalty or even halfway decent treatment for long-term patronage. The salesroom receptionist is the most professional and friendly person on staff, everyone else could care less. You would think after the emissions cheating scandal, and the bad press for allegedly firing a man from said dealership based on his HIV+ status, Bayside Volkswagen would make extra effort to treat their customers well. Perhaps my Pollyanna-ish faith in basic human decency is flawed. The stereotypical used-car salesman caricature is alive and well. read more

I went here to look at some family sized cars a while ago and hopped in a car to see the interior because no one bothered to help me out after about 10 mins of waiting. Finally some dude (I assume a salesguy but could have been the cleaner) asked me if I needed help and we went to his cubicle. I brought my car here for some maintenance. The service advisor was great. I think his name was Nate! I do have an extended warranty though. So price was no issue. The only thing I didn't like is that you have to be shuttled to and from the LIRR at Great Neck. But the drivers are phenom and get you there quickly and safely. First off, I just want to say that I usually don't go out of my way to review places (especially dealerships) but I was absolutely blown away by this place. I randomly stopped by on a whim while walking to Bell Blvd. I had a faint idea of buying my brother a graduation present and thought maybe a car would be perfect. I know cars (worked in a mechanic shop through high school) and I know VWs are the most reliable and affordable cars out there. Once I walked in I was immediately greeted by the staff and offered assistance. A cool sales associate named Andrew got me coffee and showed me around. After chatting for a while I settled on a white 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan which is just beautiful. My brother likes powerful machines but doesn't like anything too conspicuous so this car was a PERFECT match. Anyway, after talking numbers, Andrew said with my credit I can get a very affordable payment plan which was perfect for my budget. Without going into details, he was even able to cut me a deal and got me an even better price! Long story short, I have nothing to say but good things about this dealership. On Sep 8th 2018, I purchased 2019 VW Jetta from salesman Min at Bayside, VW. Somehow he handed me only 1 key at the time, wondering why only 1 key, but did not insisted on getting the 2nd key (I thought if I be careful, I would never loose that key). Because of my busy schedule, I completely forgot about this important matter. Three days ago, I lost a key holder that has that car key and few other keys all together. Two days ago, I called the salesman Min, and explained to him about this matter. He said he will return my call after looking into the paperworks, but received no calls from him. Today, I went to VW service center to replace that lost key, but the parts dept guy charged me $243.32 for just the key, and another $160+tax for programing it, and told me I have to wait until next week friday (almost 1 week) to get a new key from them. Went back to lease another car. Salesman Shawn did the early work with my wife. Went back to finalize the agreement. Of course we had a small disagreement and Shawn did a very funny thing at the end of the night. Manager Angelo is a man of his word and with just a handshake agreement stood by his word. Everything went smoothly with the return of our leased car. Picked up the car and a couple of days later we remembered we left some CDs in our old car. Shawn retrieved them for us. I purchased a certified pre-owned car from Baysde VW back in 2018 as a first time buyer. The car only came with one key and at the time of the sale the sales rep ASSURED me that a new key would be mailed to me in the next month or so that he had to contact the previous owner, (little did I know he would take advantage of my lack of knowledge of the process) I forgot about this because i trusted that the sales rep would do his job correctly and update my file stating the vehicle only came with one key. I called back in February of this year because I remembered I did not have a spare after misplacing the one key I had. Due to the pandemic and everyone working from home i was constantly told by representative after representative that someone would call me back that a manager was not in each time was a new excuse, finally in September i got in touch with a manager who told me "I am sorry the rep who sold you the car is not here anymore and he did not fill out the paperwork correctly" so now i have to pay $400 for an extra key when i paid top dollar for a certified pre-owned car, be careful when buying from here some of the sales reps care more about rushing through the sale than being thorough with the paperwork... read more

They are there to fleece you of your hard earned money. The service rates ar exorbitantly high but quality of work is poor. They force you get unnecessary and costly repairs when you dont need them. I was told radiator repair is going to cost $1100 for my Passat's radiator. When I refused to get it done they failed my State inspection for condition of my car tires (although initially the service advisor told me they were good for atleast 1000-2000 miles). I had to get the head lights fixed and was told they have fixed them using the computer but when I drove my car the low beam was all over the place except on the road. I was thinking to go consumer affairs but moved from NYC. Very bad experience!!!!!!!! read more

I'm going to describe my experiences with Bayside VW going back to the year 2000 when I purchased my first Volkswagen from their company to the present. My first purchase was a VW Passat sedan. The car was nice but needed to be replaced in 2011 due to normal aging and any additional maintenance would have been cost prohibitive. The salesperson knew less about the card then I did. At that time, their service facility was located on Northern Blvd. in Bayside. The service facility would often over book service appointments. On more than one occasion I would schedule an appointment up to 3 weeks in advance and they would call the day before the appointment to cancel and reschedule for another 3 weeks in the future. On one occasion I had brake work done on the car. After I picked up the car I knew there was something wrong with the brakes and complained to Peter the service manager. They took the car back but would not even look at it. After waiting 2 days I picked up the car and took it to another VW dealer who repaired the problem. I disputed the Bayside Volkswagen charge with my credit card company. Bayside VW never responded to the credit card company and I received a credit. After this incident and the over booking of appointments I stopped using their service facility. In 2011 I needed a new car and decided to try Bayside VW again. At this time they had a new service facility in Great Neck, NY. I purchased a VW Jetta Sportwagen. I was told by the sales department that problems with the service department were fixed when they moved to their new location. But there were problems with the car from day one. The car had a permanent defect in the driver side door which allowed wind to come in through the window at highway speeds. The service facility said the car met "factory specifications". The sales department sent me back to the service department. No one would take responsibility. After 4 repair attempts I didn't use their service department again until early 2016 when I tried again to have the defect repaired. The warranty was never honored. Let's stop for a moment and look at the relationship between Volkswagen of America (VOA) and any Volkswagen dealer. During the time I owned the Jetta, I made many complaints regarding the defect to (VOA). Once VOA sells a car to one of its dealers they will no longer take responsibility for the car. You are at the mercy of the dealer. The goal of the sales department is to sell the car and move on to the next sale. The service facility will do the minimum to help a customer. They know there is very little for a customer to do except start litigation - which is very expensive. Due to the car being totaled in May 2016 I purchased a 2016 VW Golf Sportwagen. Bayside Volkswagen had started to call me about 6 months earlier to sell me a new car. When I told them about my experiences with them in the past they said things were much better. I needed a new car because my old car was totaled and told them about my credit history (I had cancer a number of years ago and the resulting circumstances hurt my credit rating). The only way to get a loan was with a "subprime lender". Subprime lenders are used by people with credit history problems and you have to pay a higher interest rate. I don't have a problem with subprime lenders but I do have a problem with Bayside VW "Business Manager" David Pyo. David lacks the qualities every sales person/business person should possess - doing what is best for the customer and following up on questions. David's main concern was writing up the sale before the final day of the month in order to meet a quota. He bullied me in to taking a car that was on the sales lot while I wanted a car that he would have had to get from another dealer - which would have taken a few extra days. The subprime lender (Santander Bank) he partnered with has 1000's of complaints against them. Do a Google search. For example, in order to make an extra principal payment each month you have to go through the inconvenience of calling Santander to properly credit the extra payment to the principal amount otherwise they will credit the payment to your next monthly loan payment. A check with various web sites will show that Santander is a predator who takes advantage of disadvantaged people who have little recourse. When a car dealer places a loan through a lender the dealer will receive a payment from the lender. This makes both Bayside VW and Santander partners - and predators. I had many discussions and emails with Suzanne Cochrane. She is the General Manager of both Helms Bros Mercedes in Bayside, NY as well as Bayside VW. Suzanne put me in touch with the Santander sales rep whose job is to convince car dealers to use their services as a subprime lender. The Santander rep confirmed my complaints. I am currently driving my 5th VW and I still love the car. My experience is with BAYSIDEVW. I was asked to come in a few months before my lease was up and I ended up getting two car payments for two months and BAYSIDE VW told me I should have read the fine print. I was incredibly shocked by what had happened that I called the Better Business Bur. I was then given half my money back. Now, here I am getting phone calls to come in and get out of my lease and my lease isn't up until November. That's three months early. I have currently received several phone calls, and e-mails and two letters in the mail asking me to get out of my lease early. Buyer beware. I would never buy a VW again in Bayside unless they made a financial amends and also a verbal amends. I am still SHOCKED at the way they treated me after 2 jettas 2 passats and now a CC. OMG... hard to believe they treat their customers like that. I am sure that the CEO of VW would have terminated that dealership. read more
