Soooo loyalty means NOTHING to this dealership. My family bought 5 cars from them in 4 years. Yet I was recently offered a better deal at another dealer out of state for my 6th car- which I took. When I brought my new 2015 car for a defective service issue I was initially told I could come on in. Then I was told "sorry you didn't buy your vehicle here so you need to go back to where you bought it for assistance". REALLY. Do I not have the right to go to ANY dealership I choose? "Oh yes", I was told, "but we can't give you a loaner car because you didn't buy the car here." Well Bayside VW bye bye. You lost 5 amazing customers. Your service was mediocre in the past and I am glad I won't have to endure the trauma of future dealings with you. Grateful to find another dealership on LI that respects and appreciates their customers no matter where the car was purchased. Oh and BTW your sub-par dealers in sales couldn't match a price or a deal given by Costco auto program. No wonder you weren't granted the privilege of being a part of this great program again. I purchased a certified used vehicle a few years ago and I recently visited the dealership to inquire about trading in my car for a newer model. I specifically informed the salesperson about the balance that I still owed on my car and what I could afford to pay for the new car. Since my carfax showed that the car had been involved in an accident, the sales manager tried to low ball me and treated me like my car wasn't worth much. The salesperson came back with a higher payment than what we originally discussed and I was so disappointed in the way that they treated me as a returning customer. They lost the sale and I decided to purchased my new 2018 vehicle at another dealership that treated me like a human being. read more

I went into this dealership yesterday and the salesman that helped me was nice, BUT when we were in the works of figuring out numbers he kept telling me that the "invoice price"/"at cost" price of the car was whatever amount and made it sound like he gave me a good deal. Pretty much I left without making any decisions right away since this is my first car. I went home and looked up some prices and he gave me the price for RETAIL. He completely lied, telling me it was a good deal for "at cost" price for the car. Don't get me wrong he's a cool guy and easy to get along with, but giving me false information unacceptable. Word of advice: do your research and know the ins and outs of whatever car you're looking to purchase/lease and make sure everything is written down for you. read more

I went for my wife's car inspection. They failed it on basis of torn wiper blades, and burned out license plate bulb. They wanted $80 for wiper blades and $40 for the bulb. I said I would replace it myself and get it reinspected. Once I went home, I noticed the wiper blades were not torn as i was told (they were 2 months old) and the bulb was not burned either. It was reinspected by other dealer and was passes. So I guess Bayside Service is not honest and I would stay away from here. read more

I can't give Bayside VW 5 stars because it is a car dealership after all and buying a car is never really an enjoyable experience. I was surprised to see the negative reviews but maybe we lucked out?! My husband has leased two cars here and I've financed one car through Bayside VW. We've dealt with Jeff every time. Like I said, car dealers are never fun to deal with, but Jeff is absolutely the best you can do. He doesn't ooze sliminess the way most car dealers do. We did our research before our leasing and financing, and I'm fairly confident we've gotten very good deals. When we leased my husbands first car, we played the bluff game and took Jeff's offer to a different VW dealer in NJ & they told us they found the offer hard to believe & advised us to go back to bayside and make the deal if it was real because we would not do any better. I know it's all a big game and its hard to know if you're really getting the best deal out there, but Jeff has always been kind, accommodating & professional...& that can make all the difference sometimes. read more

I'm no stranger to Bayside VW, having bought three VW's there, dating back to 1967! It's where I have my cars serviced. I switch from pre-mounted summer to winter tires and back, as the seasons demand; this simple task I like to do myself. This time, however, I simply could not unscrew that one last wheel bolt, the one with the lock on it. My "key" slipped and slipped. No go. Late morning, I went directly to Bayside VW service and asked them if they had a "Master Key" or if they would do whatever they had to do to loosen that last bolt. After all, there I was, with my GLI on three snow tires and one summer tire! In spite of my barging in without an appointment, indeed, even unannounced, the service manager got me the help I needed. He explained the best and worst possible scenarios, so I'd be prepared. Desperate, I accepted whatever he could do at whatever the cost.Yes, I trust them that much! That trust in Bayside VW Service was rewarded once again when they removed the reluctant bolt for only the price of a half-hour shop time. These guys are top notch! Without boring you with all the sordid details - reached an agreement with a salesperson concerning the price of a used Jetta. Came to the dealer with a certified bank check to make the purchase and was told the price I was given was not right. Tried to get me to pay more. I don't do business with individuals like that. I took my bank check and walked out the door. Wasted my precious time. read more

$125 to survey the damage to my car and $125 to figure out what the rattle was whenever I went in reverse. The diagnosis guy for the noise would be around in a few hours. I skipped that and just told them to give me an estimate to fix the car. $4,072 estimate after I ran over a tractor trailer tire and smashed up some plastic stuff under the car. Estimate for replacing a fan and the radiator, bumper, painting the bumper, new lower grille, fog light, upper and lower fender liner, bumper spoiler, bumper retainer, radiator core support and labor. Was told the small chip of plastic in the fan will cause the fan to break the radiator and cause a leak and overheating issues. The accident ahppened in Florida and I drove the car over 1,200 miles before I brought it to the dealer. No odd sounds, leaks, power loss, check engine lights, etc. The bumper was 100% in tact, as was the lower grille, radiator was fine, fan had a small piece of plastic chip about half an inch taken out on the shroud, the radiator core support was cracked at the bottom, bumper retainer, bumper spoiler and lower fender lining needed replacing. Independent dealer confirmed all this and looked at the estimate and was baffled as to why the bumper which had no problems, broken tabs, etc. was listed. Indie shop said they probably figured you're going to have insurance take care of it so they'll milk the job. I can't have my car in the shop for the estimated 1 and a half weeks for parts to be replaced for no reason. New radiator core support, lower fender lining, bumper retainer, bumper spoiler and fog light changed out with OEM VW parts bought from Hatfield VW in Columbus Ohio (saved $250 as compared to what VW Bayside quoted for the parts that I ended up replacing and no taxes+free shipping.) The tech was able to fix the rattle that happened whenever I was in reverse; it was one of the exhaust hangers that popped out. read more

Beyond outstanding. I had recently placed a pre-order for a 2017 Golf R. I had deal with Peter in sales, who was courteous. Their staff welcomes you with a warm smile, and one of them went upstairs to get fresh milk for the coffee they had just brewed. After my pre-order, Peter kept me up-to-date as per the progress. The vehicle arrived less than a month later, even though I was quoted a 3-4 month wait (Golf Rs are made in limited quantity and imported from Germany). While taking delivery, the purchase process was seamless. All members of this dealership seem to abide by a low-pressure model, with focus on customer experience as opposed to making a quick buck. There were no sleazy "fees" added to my invoice. Just the sales tax, and registration. For anyone unfamiliar with vehicle buying process, other high-volume dealerships add on things like VIN etching, document prep fees, and a host of other items which are nothing more than profit items for people who don't know any better. I was qualified for a very low finance rate, and drove my vehicle off the lot. In the following weeks, I received numerous courtesy calls ensuring that everything was ok with my vehicle. I had been looking to buy a car for several months. I live in East Hampton so naturally I went to the Volkswagen dealership in Riverhead. They couldn't care less about selling or leasing me a car. The service is horrible. I am certain that they are charging me to repair things that have nothing wrong, and always looking for ways to make money. I have brought my car there four times in the last two months, and each time they repair what I brought the car in for and tell me there is something else wrong and charge me again. I originally had a bad experience with this dealership when I bought my 2012 Jetta. When I purchased my car they "could not locate" my spare key. I had tried calling for three months after I still had not received the spare key that I was promised and I always got the same answer, they were still looking for it... After stressing myself out and locking my only set of keys in the car twice, I finally decided that I would have to wave the white flag and purchase a spare key ($240.) I figured that I would try the dealership one more time (what could I loose?) It was now 14 months after I had bought the car but I figured I would give it a try. When I called, I asked to speak to the sales manager directly. I left a detailed message for Angelo and within an hour he called me back. Miraculously enough, my key was there! Three days later I have my spare key, a free keychain, and I saved $240!! He told me that he had just became sales manager and was looking to turn the business around which from my most recent experience he has done. I was very impressed with the fact that he returned my phone call promptly and that he actually took time to look for my key. This type of customer service prompted me to write a good review. I just have to laugh at some of the negative posts here. They are nothing but professional in this dealership. This is personally my second lease with them and my fourth VW. I have also used there service department with all four cars and have never had a problem. They have always been accommodating. The entire staff was helpful. I went to Hyundai to look at a Tucson and had the worst experience with the salesman and had hidden fees at the end of the process. I know that there are stereotypes about car salespeople. This place fulfills every one of those stereotypes, and creates a few new ones. From the first moment, and at every turn since, this dealership has been slimey, condescending, dishonest, rude, and irresponsible. They reinvented "the old switcheroo." They insulted and MADE FUN of my husband. They managed to screw up our paperwork 3 times (once for financing, once for registration, and once for title). Then, 5 days before our 30-day temporary registration/plates were about to expire, they called us to say that they forgot to have us sign the correct form, and that they didn't know when they might be able to get our plates. Then, the woman actually suggested that we drive with expired reg/plates, and they'd cover whatever tickets we might get. She actually suggested that we ILLEGALLY drive our car, because THEY couldn't get their act together. Avoid this place. You will be happy you did. read more

We had a great experience buying a Certified Pre-Owned Golf at Bayside Volkswagen. I did my research well in advance, and I knew the exact vehicle I wanted and I was more than familiar with prices because I had been following them for awhile. It's hard to find used Golfs, especially ones actually certified by Volkswagen. I was lucky enough to get one just off a lease, and I snapped it up immediately. There were other cars available, but none of them were certified, or they were overpriced, or it was some crazy unrealistic deal from some sleezy place where you have to wonder what they're hiding. After I found this car, I got a prompt reply from Sally Morello, and we went in and dealt with Jeffrey Schull. He expedited everything for us very well. Everyone at Bayside Volkswagen was extremely polite and professional, including Leo Ohayon, who was in charge of the certified vehicles. The entire process was pretty stress free. Jeff expedited everything for us from beginning to end. I read other reviews where people seemed angry that they couldn't get a better deal, but we honestly got an awesome deal. These other people didn't do their research. If a dealer is selling a quality certified vehicle with a clean car fax they are not going to let that car go for less than its market value, especially if that car is in demand. All those "great deals" you see online are for cars with questionable history, and you're taking a gamble on huge repairs later on. Time will tell, but so far I'm thrilled. Purchased a 2014 Touareg TDi and had it back in service 3 times within the first month. Thumping sound coming from the front suspension and customer care claims it was After customer care claimed it was "Normal". After months of grief and headaches they finally agreed to replace the vehicle. We get a call from bayside to pick it up at the dealership and it's not there? They send us to service the following day and it's not ready to be picked up? After3 attempts to pick up the new truck we finally get it. Pull the truck in to the driveway and notice two large stains that look like spray paint on the hood. Now we understand why they were "detailing" the truck as a "courtesy". They could not get the stains out and try to get away with it. We take the truck to a local body shop right up the road from service and have all the services and vw body guys meet us there. Everyone's in agreement that the hood is damaged. We go back and forth with customer care for months and they finally send us a letter saying that the hood is not damaged and that the stains are inherent with the vehicle. $58,000 and they want to paint my brand new truck and only as a "courtesy". Thank you bayside and customer care for the most horrific experience ever. read more
