No response to two phone calls to try to schedule an appointment or assessment! So much for helping with an injury.

The decision on where to go for your therapy sessions can take many forms. Many of us will just go to whomever our doctors recommend. Maybe the therapist is "right there" in the doctor's building or even in their office. They'll tout "constant communication" as a good reason to visit that particular therapist. And that is a good reason. However, in my opinion, there are other factors you should consider. Many of us who reach my age have had to visit with Physical Therapists "once or twice" in our lives. I've certainly had the opportunity to visit many of them in my lifetime. Jennifer Jung with Baysport Physical Therapy is the only therapist for whom I've ever even thought about leaving a review. Hands down, she's the best therapist I've ever worked with. From what I've experienced and witnessed, Jennifer doesn't just "call it in." She's got GREAT situational awareness and really works hard to get your body back to how it should be. In my case, Jennifer actually did more for me than other physical therapist I've ever visited. And, when she noticed things that about me that my doctors hadn't detected, she repeatedly urged me revisit my doctor or get a second opinion. Thankfully, I listened. I haven't been back for physical therapy in over a year. I haven't even communicated with my therapist in all that time. However, I was so impressed with Jennifer, that I vowed I write her a review when I got the chance. After a year of "not getting around to it," my commitment to telling everyone about her who will listen is just as strong. n my opinion, Jennifer is worth visiting if you need to see a physical therapist. read more

I saw Gary and his assistant Annabelle for TMJ and pelvis/hip work. Gary is an absolute magician. He not only treated my face and jaw but followed the kinetic chain down to my foot. He was able to identify many deficiencies in my body. He is so thorough and emphasizes getting to the root cause. His assistant Annabelle is a complete gem as well. She is so calm and attentive. Annabelle goes the extra mile to ensure I feel comfortable before, during and after my treatment. They're an awesome team. I'm so grateful. I trust Gary completely. He is eager to learn cutting edge treatments and updates his training and knowledge regularly. He listens to me and his treatment is based on the feedback I give him. My experience in the past with other PT clinics is that you see the PT the first session and then they pass you off to aids. I have seen him every single time I've come in. I get one whole hour with him. I'm seen right away and never wait long to see the therapist. They offer coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, as well as snacks. I came to BaySports with some pretty severe nerve damage that left my hand basically unusable, and I wasn't even able to close it into a complete fist. Going into physical therapy I was scared that I would never fully get that function back. My sessions usually started with Chrissy massaging and assessing my muscles, then I would do some finger exercises, then some shoulder exercises, and then it would end with electric stimulation. The facility itself is very very clean and new looking. They have a very full gym available for you to work through anything you need. Plenty of e-stim machines and additional tools to work on your specific problem. Chrissy was also really great about lending me tools to take home so that I could practice daily. Words cannot even explain how appreciative I am of Chrissy and Raymond. Not only did they help me build function and strength back into my hand, but they were so incredibly supportive and uplifting the entire time. I enjoyed my conversations with them and even looked forward to going to PT! I highly highly recommend this facility, ESPECIALLY Chrissy and her assistant Raymond. They are the best :) read more

Pilates To Rebuild and Reinvent Yourself..... Pros: The staff is helpful, humane and humorous Cons: It's expensive, especially if not covered by insurance Suggestions: You can gain access to the great staff and training whether or not you're a member of Courtside. Afternoons are less busy than mornings. Star Ratings: - Overall: 5 - Staff: 5 - Management: 5 - Equipment: 5 - Location: 5 - Ambiance: 5 ( although the carpets could use a good cleaning ) - Cost: 3 ( depends on your insurance ) - Value: 5 - Fun Factor: 5 Late in 2011, I had a prolonged ping of pain in my lower back which extended down my left leg. I couldn't sit or lie down for more than 30 minutes without the feeling something was really wrong. Like a whack to my nerve ends! After a month or 2, I got the message and finally saw my regular doctor...then a doctor specializing in pain management, Peter Abaci, in Los Gatos. An MRI and x-rays revealed 2 herniated discs in the lumbar region. Dr Abaci, an expert in the field, was very understanding and scheduled me for a series of 3 epidural injections. The first 2 didn't help much, but the 3rd seemed to do the trick. Still, a nagging pain taunted me just below the surface and, for added fun, appeared to shift to different places depending on how I moved and slept. He initially recommended 12 sessions of traditional treatment which I received at More Physical Therapy. After some improvement, but not quite where things should be, Dr Abaci suggested 12 sessions of pilates work at BaySport in the nearby Courtside Club. Actually, I was kind of a "veteran" client of BaySport since I worked with their therapists using pilates equipment once or twice a week from 2004-2006 to improve the situation with stenosis in my cervical spine. Those core building techniques were great. Everyone I met was helpful, humane and humorous, but I was told to "cease and desist" by my neurosurgeon at the time who was fearful of a life altering injury. So I stopped and said goodbye to some truly nice people. When I restarted my "career" at BaySport in mid April 2012, I quickly discovered most things were about the same. Names might have changed, but the staff still qualifies for the 3 H's mentioned above. They listen carefully for information and tenderly drive their clients to push personal boundaries...no foot dragging allowed...while remaining sensitive to your aches and pains. There are lockers for changing, direct access to the parking lot and a big bathroom for doing big things. Kristin, my physical therapist, starts each session with a 15 minute massage of troubled areas. For me, that's almost everywhere. Either that...or I'm beginning to enjoy it too much. Her hands are intuitive and feel like warm butter settling into the crevasses of a biscuit. Half the time, I fall asleep midway through...like having dessert before a meal...but it's really just the best way to loosen muscles for the work ahead. After shrugging off my brief stupor, I usually spend 45 minutes with various exercises using the reformer, "trap" table and several smaller pieces of equipment. Therapists-in-training guide me through this portion of each visit, but Kristin is there to provide supervision and assistance. It's great teamwork...very similar to what I experienced during my first stint at BaySport ( and neither time was I a member of Courtside ). A suggestion for management: It seems the therapists specializing in exercises for the "trap" table are only available in the morning. Make sure the afternoon people have knowledge of those techniques ( they worked wonders in 2004-2006 ). I'd heartedly recommend the people, process and focus on pilates at BaySport. They're knowledgeable, skilled and care about each client ( and illegally cute if you're interested in such things ). read more

Please be extremely cautious and on guard when using BaySport if you're using insurance. If you're paying out of pocket, then the therapy is fine enough in and of itself, but if you're counting to use insurance, you'll be doing yourself a favor finding somewhere else. Their billing department is either intentionally deceiving or incompetent. Two weeks prior to our first appointment, we called and informed them that it was very important and absolutely pertinent to get a pre-authorization for any therapy services on our insurance plan. They said no problem. We verified before our appointment that everything was ok. Started services for 3 times a week, due to this being a post-surgical rehabilitation therapy, it racked up a lot of visits. During the visits, we checked in with the front desk if everything was ok with insurance. They said yes. At our last appointment 6 weeks later, they stopped us at the front desk after the therapy session and informed us that all of the visits have been denied because pre-authorization was not obtained (surprise, surprise!). They admitted later that they never were able to obtain the pre-authorization and they had a probable excuse, but they failed to notify us until now, even after we had stressed the importance of getting the pre-authorization and specifically asked out insurance on our prior visits. Now we're going through tons of work trying to appeal it, which we did so successfully in the end but it was a lot of work on our part for their mistake. So unless you're planning to pay completely out of pocket or worry about spending a lot of time dealing with insurance appeals (we all know how tedious that is) while dealing with your recovery/nursing your injury, avoid this place or you'll be slapped with a hefty bill after being incorrectly told that everything was all good with insurance when it was clearly not. read more

I have two torn discs in my back (L4, L5-S1). Christine from Bay Sport gave me life back, and I mean that. Some say your therapist does not matter, but that's not true. A good therapist, for me, meant the difference from being bed bound to an active participant in daily life. After over a year of physical therapy elsewhere my pain had only increased. I was confined to lying on the floor at home and at work. My definition of exercise became sitting or standing because I could hardly do either. I could not walk for more than 1 minute without pain. I had extreme pain in my left hip, moderate but constant pain down my left leg and countless spasms in my lower back every day. After so much pain for so long, my physical pain had become mental. I was really depressed. I cursed my doctor the entire way to our first visit - I had tried everything (physical therapy on land, acupuncture, gokhale method) and nothing worked. I was pretty negative about driving 30 minutes for water therapy. It's funny to look back on that moment; I'm so very lucky I found Christine and Bay Sport. I'm lucky I didn't let my situation prevent me from continuing to try to get better. Water therapy with Christine changed my life. I can now walk 30 minutes per day, I no longer need to lie down at work, and when i get home I don't collapse on the floor the way I used to. Exercise no longer means sitting or standing; I can now swim and walk. I'm still working to get better but in a period of 3-4 months everything has turned around and I get stronger by the day. I can't thank Christine enough for being an amazing therapist. And in the face of a negative patient, I can't thank her enough for always being positive and celebrating my small wins. Her encouragement, when I was so negative, helped me smile and push through it all. read more

I had a really bad nagging injury to BOTH shoulders using bad form/too high of free weights at the gym. I had trouble sleeping and couldn't even put a jacket on without wincing in Pain, nor raise my arms past my head. Chrissy Did an extensive evaluation and really pinpointed to source of my injury and did electro therapy, massage, and a to do list of exercises at home. After 1 appointment I was 80% better. During my therapy I even felt a spasm and then a big release so she was right on the money. After additional homework and 1 appointment with an outside acupuncturist I'm 97%. This is a great facility and not the typical factory. You definitely get what you pay for and I probably saved time and money getting a lot of relief in one appointment. I realize my results may not be typical, but I had a great experience. read more

The entire staff is great- from walking in through the door to the friendly aids to Daniel (the physical therapist) who is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. He takes the time and care with manual therapy which I find key for long term healing and reduction of scar tissue! I am very active and with my drive to get back to my lifestyle- they always challenge me with fresh new exercises and progressions that I can continue to do long after I complete my time at Bay Sport! Owning a Pilates and wellness studio, I work with injuries and special populations. If any client needs therapy- I recommend this place before any other! The facility is always kept very clean. This review is for Chrissy Migliore. Chrissy helped me with two different injuries. For each injury, she did a thorough assessment and was able to figure out exactly what was going on. She designed a custom PT program for me and sent online videos of my exercises. Chrissy's assistant, Raymond was also very friendly and helpful while I was doing my exercises at Baysport. Baysport in Los Gatos is an outstanding place for Physical Therapy care, and Tegan Johnson-Galvez is an excellent physical therapist. This place was recommended to me by my orthopedic surgeon to help me recover from an operation to fix a separated shoulder. The building and facilty is brand new, everything sparkles. The staff seems to care about each patient. Unlike many physical therapy offices here you get significant personal attention by Tegan and dedicated "hands on" time by Tegan. There are never more than two patients at once. Some facilities schedule three or more patients for a therapist in one hour -- not here. And you are never rushed out the door (although if you have a time constraint on a particular day, such as a meeting, you can tell them and they will shorten your schedule for that day). Tegan herself is friendly and expert. I saw how she works with a range of other patients. As far is I could tell she was well-received by them all. And her knowledge is impressive. There are some doctors who work out of the office and even saw them asking her for information. Tegan is supported by a staff of helpful, competent assistants. All were good. The one I spent the most time with was Ryan Dirk. He seemed to really care about my (ever improving) condition. And I was surprised by how much knowledge he had as "just" an assistant. The ultimate results were great. The surgeon told me to expect six months of recovery but I was finished in about four months. The owners here have built - and run - one of the finest physical therapy operations in the South Bay. Not the largest, just the best. I recommend it whole-heartedly. read more

I worked with Katy who helped me with my lower back pain. I had been doing squats and dead lifts for a couple months and started having pain in my lower back. Katy quickly figured out I wasn't using proper form and gave me some exercises to make sure I was immobilizing my SI joint. I've been using that technique for several weeks now and I have no lower back pain. I feel really lucky because I could have had a life altering injury if Katy hadn't helped me out. She also got me using a foam roller on my IT bands which has dramatically helped my flexibility and is much more comfortable throughout the day. I was having extreme pain in my right shoulder and was unable to even raise my right arm. It was essentially a useless appendage. I selected Bay Sports from a list of Physical Therapy locations given me by Stanford Health Navigation Services. The Bay Sports location nearest me did not accept Anthem Blue Cross but the Los Gatos location did. That was fortunate for me because the therapy I received from the Los Gatos location was superb. My therapist was Kristin. She was extremely knowledgeable about the shoulder muscles and the possible problem with my shoulder. She described a plan and some initial exercises. She was extremely professional through the entire therapy process. The other therapists and assistants were very diligent in making me do the exercises correctly with the proper form to exercise the injured muscles. After several weeks of therapy and exercises, I am now able to reuse my right arm and I have gotten much of the strength back in it. The Los Gatos BaySports environment was extremely friendly and professional. I have recommended this location to some of my friends. read more
