Yesterday, my friend and I went to visit our favorite waiter, Jerell and of course, we went all out with our order! We started with our go-to drink, the French 76, along with the cilantro lime tacos as an appetizer. For our main, we split the roasted turkey and avocado sandwich, then treated ourselves to a perfectly done crème brûlée for dessert. Before leaving, we ordered two ribeyes to go for later, plus the soup of the day, a few of their salad dressings, and some decadent dark chocolates. In town to Houston for work, I stumbled upon Bazille while walking through Nordstrom on the way back to my hotel. It was 7:30 (30 minutes before closing), while I would have sat and ate my dinner there, I got the vibes they didn't want me to so I ordered my meal to go - no big deal. Everyone was super friendly and for being a department store restaurant, it has quite a nice ambiance. I ordered the crab soup and the special birria pizza. My entire order was very well packaged (see photo) and utensils were included with my meal without me asking (love when restaurants do this!). My pizza was quite good. It was extremely flavorful. The crust was very similar to a CPK crust, perhaps a bit chewier. If I had a minor quip it would be that it was a bit too salty and dripping with oil. The broth that came with it to dip slices into was also quite flavorful, sadly a bit cold though. The crab soup was equally delicious - albeit a bit too oily as well. Tucked inside Nordstrom, I really didn't have high expectations of a restaurant inside a shop, inside the mall. But this is the Galleria so everything is a little more posh! A group of us came in a Sunday for brunch and were seated immediately. Our waitress was extremely nice as we waited for our entire party. She was attentive the entire 2 hours we were there, checking on us often. I ordered the wild salmon nicoise , a salad with baby greens, herb crusted salmon, tomatoes, roasted potatoes, green beans, olives, egg and capers with a balsamic drizzle. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The roasted potatoes were surprisingly the star! They were well seasoned and provided a great texture difference to the salad. The food and service here used to be amazing. Today and in my last visit, it was totally lacking. The cook or waiter did not put in the order for all of our food on both visits and several of my guests had to wait for their meals. Today, though, I only came with one other person and they again forgot to place one of our orders. After waiting for more than 15 minutes for bread, which was ordered as an appetizer, I asked how much longer the rest of the order would take. The waitress said a few minutes for the pizza and that the other item was ready. I asked her to bring the item that was ready and to please check on the rest of the order. I saw her interaction with the cook and prep chef and noticed that they were arguing because the pizza had not been started because they had not communicated properly. By then, I had already waited over 25 minutes for my meal so I proceeded to ask the waitress to cancel the order. I don't plan to come back to this restaurant which used to amazing and delicious because their lack of good, quality service is poor. read more

I love Bazille. The chefs, servers and food are consistently great. We are always warmly greeted by the host who makes friendly small talk as she takes us to our table. The servers keep our iced teas topped up, and often check in to see if everything is ok. The food is always tasty and I love to try the chef's specials. And two of them say, leave your stroller by the front. First of all, it's an expensive stroller. Second, it was full of shopping bags. So, I ask, do you mind if we sit at the table instead where we were much closer to the stroller - and it was a table, so all of would have had more room. Made a quick pit-stop into Bazille today after spending a whole day running errands in the Houston heat. I am a big fan of places that provide non-alcoholic options at their bar, so kudos to this place for being inclusive. I ordered the blackberry mocktail, and Jerrell made it beautifully. It was cool and refreshing and not overly sweet or artificial. He provided such prompt and friendly service, and completely made my day even though I was only in there all of 10 minutes! This is use to be one of my favorite stops whenever I went to Nordstrom's or the Galleria. I've brought friends and family many times for Not what it use to be. The quality of the food has declined every visit. Service was just so so. We returned the stale calamari. Fries were cold. Salad had very little dressing and I usually don't require much. It was a vinaigrette but I think I only got the oil. The waiter brought us dirty plates. The bread was stale. The waiter brought the check out but lost the the actual check. The holder was empty. The complimentary chocolates should be thrown away. They're always half melted from being carried in their pockets. So sad. I think this was my final try. read more

Wow! What an awesome restaurant hidden on the 3rd floor of Nordstrom. If you are in the Galleria, this is a definitely top affordable restaurant to dine at! I headed there around noon for lunch with my husband. This is definitely a happening place at lunch. There was the typical 'ladies who lunch' crowd, but there were also some business people and some families. The service here is phenomenal! If you read my reviews, I very rarely say that. The training of the servers here is amazing. They automatically give you a black napkin if your clothes call for it (something that Brennan's staff didn't do that last time I was at that swanky place). They are completely on top of drink refills and even how they refill your drinks (with a napkin in front of your drink to avoid splashing you) is so well trained and professional. The manager was going table to table asking about the meals. The uniform of the waiters is very attractive and professional, it's like a chef's jacket. I was just incredibly impressed with the staff. I even mentioned that a sandwich might be too spicy for me so I wouldn't get it and the waiter didn't hesitate to say that he'd bring it for me and replace it if it was too spicy. He was very genuine about it. Our food was delicious! I had the Honey Chipotle Chicken sandwich ($10.50). It was on ciabatta bread with lightly fried red peppers. Oh my goodness it was delicious! I am salivating as I write this. I really didn't think food this good could be in a mall department store. My husband had the ham and Swiss melt ($9.95) and loved it. The fries are the very thin type, and they were lightly dusted in a parsley confetti. All of this plus 2 sodas for about $26. I highly recommend this restaurant. Nordies Bistro in Houston is a indeed a bistro and not a cafe. Since I'm a fan of the cafe's in many of the stores I had no idea a Bistro existed. No trays, no lines, no grouchy guys behind the counter taking orders. Here, you are treated like a human being...properly seated with white linens and a sour dough bread basket; followed by a fabulous waiter who comes over and offers you the wine menu. That's how you start lunch in Houston. We stopped in for a quick bite after a long day of shopping and indulged in a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a savory appetizer. The wine was perfection for just $8. Crisp and fruity, light and refreshing. A three-tiered jar of yumminess was brought out with some crostinis. Creamy ricotta cheese, herb pesto, olive oil and tomato sweet jam all swirled together to pat on your toast and then...mmmmm closed your eyes and take a bite! All for just $7.95 Shockingly you won't find the famous tomato soup here. They offer a soup du jour for $3.95 (what a bargain) so Mr. G had a cup of the creamy corn chowder-and yes it was delicious. I ordered a cup of the Crab Bisque-full of flavor and the perfect starter. We shared a fresh berry and fig salad sprinkled with goat cheese and almonds for $12.95. Dinner tonight: Shrimp Chatarra has spicy tomato sauce, baby spinach, petite tomatoes, and parmesan cheese w/french herbs for 810 calories paired with a bottle of Decoy Cabarnet Sauvignon. About 7 shrimps on there but the pasta lacked sauce and flavor...I was hoping for more of a kick! But the French dip has to be the best on the menu and cous cous. My review is on the food only. Our server was excellent. Professional, friendly, responsive. You can tell he cares about his customers. Jose was his name . Unfortunately the food was absolutely inedible. My wife and I actually got mildly ill after eating lunch here. We ordered the cauliflower as an appetizer and it was drenched, I mean drenched in oil. We were both so hungry we ate a little but immediately regretted it. It would have soaked through a kitchen towel it was that greasy. Ugh. Then we ordered the wild Alaskan salmon with the saffron couscous. First of all the salmon was so dry it made my throat itch. It was the color of a hot pink hotdog. I promise you there was nothing wild about this salmon. Wild from a farm I'm sure. The couscous was covered in that oil again. It was so oily that I picked up a piece with my two fingers and it oozed oil. The whole meal was disgusting. Actually I never write reviews anymore because I find them offensive and mostly I don't care about everyone else's options. And maybe you won't care about ours, but I would say it was the worst meal I've ever had in my life. I could have chugged a bottle of canola oil and been better off. Gross. I was recently invited to a special event at Bazille for a tasting to their new soon-to-be-released menu items. First, to be honest, I can tell you that I can count on one hand the total number of times I have been to the Galleria in the past decade. In that decade, I have only been to Nordstrom once and that was to purchase a pair of shoes for my wife. Until this event, I had no idea that Bazzile existed. Located on the third floor of Nordstrom, this wonderful restaurant sits quietly next to the lingerie department. Chef Randy Pinney is pumping out some tasty delights that will make your your taste buds dance. I had the opportunity to taste twelve different items from the Chef's bag of tricks. I hope I'm not about to give anything away prematurely, but here it goes... The first tasting was Prosciutto Fig Toast. If you would have told me it had figs, I would have turned my nose up. What I tasted was a sweet mix of fig apple jam, goat cheese, arugula and toasted pine nuts. It was very good. I had two. I then had Bazille Balls. Crab, shrimp, beef, vegetables, rice, panko bread crusted in a delightful avocado cream sauce. Another wonderful treat. I had two (this is not a trend). Cajun Shrimp and Grits. Somehow this one snuck past me. I have never met a shrimp I didn't like so I asked them to bring me one even though I had totally missed this wonderful delight when they were passing them out. Wow, am I glad they made one especially for me. It was my favorite item of the night. Unfortunately, I only had one. I can't wait to come back and try this one again. Vegetarian Mushroom Risotto. I love mushrooms and I love risotto. Put them together on a parmesan crisp? Wonderful. Kung Pao Brussels. I'm never first in line when it comes to Brussels but once again, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm still not in love with them and probably wouldn't order them on purpose but they were still good...for Brussels. Herbed Ricotta Ravioli. Herbed ricotta cheese, fontina cheese sauce, tomatoes, feta, and diced micro basil. Like the Brussels, I wouldn't order ravioli here or anywhere else but if that is your thing, these were good. Korean BBQ Short Ribs. Maybe it was the Fresno Chile but one of my bites of this was pretty spicy. My second and third bite wasn't near as spicy but that first one was. I'm not anti-spicy so I really liked this. Duck Confit Flatbread. I only had a small amount but this flatbread was really good. Shredded duck, fontina cheese, pickled red onion, arugula, lemon oil, salt and pepper. The boys from Duck Dynasty would be right at home eating this concoction. They would also probably call it "pizza". Gochujang Style Wings. Wings are typically finger foods and can be messy. These were no different. They were a Gochujang Korean glaze, shaved vegetable salad, with a side of horseradish dipping sauce. I love wings and could eat a dozen of these no problem. Just give me some wet wipes when I'm done and I can make a meal of if. Did someone say dessert? Well, let's talk about that too. Deconstructed S'mores was a molten chocolate ganache, drizzled with a dark chocolate sauce Ginger Cinnamon Créme Brulee was grated with ginger and cinnamon My personal favorite was the Profiteroles with Pistachio Crumble. This is a pastry puff filled with butter cream and dipped in chocolate. I don't have a major sweet tooth but this one was really good. Bottom line: Chef Pinney has done a wonderful job of putting this menu together. The description of the ingredients above are their words but the opinion of how they tasted are mine. I was invited to attend this event and would do it again. The staff did an amazing job of meeting our needs and providing descriptions of the food we were able to eat. I mentioned above that I don't venture into the Galleria often. After discovering the food at Bazille, I can't wait to go back and try them again...especially the aforementioned shrimp and grits. I'm a bit disappointed with the Bistro. First of all, my crab bisque... I found one small piece of crab in it. Maybe it's just supposed to be crab flavor. I was glad that they do half orders... but then disappointed that they only did half orders on like 2 dishes. The black forest ham sandwich was one of them and on the menu, it seemed so appetizing. It was okay when it came out.... extremely buttery. I ordered the honey chipotle chicken sandwich. It was good, but about an hour later, my stomach didnt think seem to think so. Im not sure if it had anything to do with it. This place's saving grace? The fries! Honestly, I would only come back here for the fries. Apparently this place has been around for many years. I really wish I would have known this instead of eating in the food court whenever I stop by The Galleria to shop. This restaurant is a hidden gem located inside of Nordstrom. I've only been here twice and I was satisfied during both of my visits. There's never a wait whenever I come here which is a huge plus for me. I ordered the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad both times that I came here. I give it a 5/5 rating for the taste and a 3/5 rating for the price. It is really pricey for a salad. My boyfriend thinks $9 for a small salad at Salata is expensive already. Anyway, the salad is definitely worth a try! My boyfriend ordered the Proscuitto and Arugula pizza. He was not a huge fan of it at all. He stated that there wasn't enough proscuitto meat and the pizza was endoused in pesto sauce. He will try something different next time. We had to flag down our waiter to bring us the bread and he never came to our table to check up on us. Other than that, the service is great and I never have any complaints. This week I am in Houston and my hubby and I picked a random restaurant at the Galleria Mall and ended up at Nordstroms. The service was first class. It was near closing time but I didn't feel rushed to get out of there. Two different people checked on us and made sure our needs were taken care of. It made our whole trip.
