Noticed that the man at the grill was busy shaking dice and having a good time with 4 guys at the bar. 2 to go orders were picked up and I had my boyfriend go up and see if they started our food. He had not. We waited to 30 minutes and nothing. Very disappointed and upset. We paid for our Bloody Mary and a soda and left. Customer service was very poor tonight and nothing after 30 minutes. The staff were friendly, helpful, and quick with the libations! Kind of that "keep it real" attitude, but not in the rude way... in the honest and up front way! There is no food to speak of, save for a Chex-pub mix blend, but the drinks are why you want to visit! The famous Dirty Snowball is like a shake, but without ice cream, made with cocoa and related liqueur flavors (I can't remember what-all is in it, but it's GOOOOOOOD!). I highly recommend it! I also tried the Cleo's Trio, which is one part Dirty Snowball, one part Brandy Old Fashioned, and one part Suffering Bastard, I think? Not in the same glass! But, more like a flight. You get a little taste of Wisconsin or at least Appleton. Each drink is basically a full version, though, so you might need only one! I don't know what your favorite bar looks like, but if I lived in Appleton, this one would be mine. I would be in there at least once a week, if for no other reason the ambiance and the company. The only thing I can think of for improvement in this facility is hand sanitizer stations, one per room. Flu season is upon us and everyone in here is touching the machines. McFleshman's has a personality that immediately separates it from the cookie-cutter brewery experience. The taproom has a classic old-school pub feel, with beautiful woodwork, vintage details, artwork, a fantastic stained-glass backbar and plenty of little spaces to explore. The brewery's history and craftsmanship really show. The taproom incorporates old-growth Wisconsin oak, and the stained-glass backbar is reportedly more than 100 years old. We decided to start with a couple of beer flights so we could sample our way through the tap list before committing to full pours. That's always my preferred strategy when visiting a new brewery, and McFleshman's gave us plenty to explore. The beer selection reflects the brewery's focus on traditional German lagers and British/English-style ales, while also giving visitors some more contemporary options. But honestly, one of the biggest draws for me was the outdoor beer garden. This is the kind of patio where I could easily see myself spending an entire afternoon.
