I've been here multiple times, and it's usually been an okay experience, which is why this was so disappointing. For the first time, I decided to try the lunch special and ordered the boneless chicken instead of my usual bone-in wings. Big mistake! Whatever meat they served did not taste like chicken. Just a brief side note, that this location is just a block away from the Center for Health and Fitness gym on Prospect Ave in Redondo Beach. I've been here and tried this new spot near my place, and it's hands down the BEST Korean fried chicken in Redondo Beach! We ordered the half size of Golden Original and Secret Sauce. Golden Original was incredibly crispy, juicy, and nailed that perfect classic taste. But wow, the Secret Sauce Chicken totally stole the show. It looks spicy but it's actually the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and slightly sour. It was so addictive that we literally asked for extra sauce on the side! We walked in to eat, but the space is cozy with only a few 2-person tables, so I'd definitely recommend takeout to enjoy it at the beach or at home. Don't underestimate the quality of the food or the service by the size of its storefront, bb.q serves both with alacrity and ease despite having just a few tables and chairs inside the tiny dining area. Most of their business is takeout anyway. Even if you decide to enjoy the food inside, everything was already packed for a to-go order. We paid $27 after tax for a small order of boneless chicken, sweet potato fries, and one tiny cup of sauce. I also was not thrilled that all of the chicken was dark meat. If I had known that before ordering, I probably would have not ordered. I also didn't think it was cool to charge me $1 extra for a tiny cup of sauce when I ordered the chicken plain, surely they could throw in 1 cup for free since they are so small. The sweet potato fries were fine but nothing special. Overall the meal was very mediocre to me. Always been a fan of BBQ chicken. This location is super quick, there aren't many tables to dine in but you can order online for pick up. This place is actually directly across the road from my apartment. I have probably ordered takeout there about 10 times. The chicken is as always tender and juicy, and the coating crisp, even when douced in whatever choice of sauce. I have gotten the Ddeok-Bokki, and normally order white rice with the chicken wings. All have always been excellent (although one would be truly bad to ruin white rice!!!). One menu item I have ordered several times, is the onion rings. First couple of times I ordered them they were some of the best I had ever had. Unfortunately of late they have been overcooked to a point of burnt on the one order. I am not a person to go walk back and complain, but will share my experiences on my next visit. I have had this on my list to try for a while after seeing how tasty it looked on some k-dramas! I got a take out order since there aren't many tables inside. Ordered an 8 pc original fried chicken and an order of fries. Both were great, especially the fries. They are perfectly seasoned and crispy and the portion is huge! The 8 pc original fried chicken perfectly seasoned as well and just the right amount of crisp on the batter. The only thing I should have done differently was taken the advice of many yelp reviews and tried the wings instead since the pieces on the whole fried chicken are on the smaller side not as big as Popeyes, and I prefer the juiciness and tenderness of wing meat to some pieces of breast in the whole fried chicken. To start off, my family and I have been an avid fan of bb.q Chicken and was very excited to hear that a location would pop up in Redondo Beach. Since then, we've ordered many times, and the chicken has been consistently great. However, one thing that has always disappointed us was the "$1.99" radish. Although expensive in comparison to other Korean chicken spots (who give radish for free), we always ordered it. Today, the radish portion in one of the containers was unbelievable. It was a third of the amount of radish they usually give. Totally not worth the 1.99 for the tiny container and portion of radish.
