I've been to Market Grill once before but somehow only noticed the American BBQ part. The other day I was yelping Mediterranean food and had to do a double take when it listed Market Grill at the very top. Conveniently located inside Jon's Market, there is a big parking lot but just be aware of people driving in the wrong direction. *SMH* Market Grill is Just to the left when you first enter. You won't miss it as all the wonderful aromas come wafting towards you. There is quite a selection and you can order your kebabs at the same time as your baby back ribs. I ordered #3 which comes with chicken kebab and a beef kebab along with basmati rice, a green pepper and a tomato as well as a small cup of refreshing cucumber salad. We also ordered the baby back ribs with two sides. There are plenty of choices for sides. We chose the potato wedges which I didn't care for because they were too crunchy and the veggies. The portions for both orders are huge and it took us two days to finish them. The meats were cooked perfectly and were so flavorful. You can order by phone but I only had a 10 minute wait on a Saturday night. You can opt to shop in the market while you wait for the order or sit at one of the tables. I was very pleased with my order and will be back to try the other offerings.

What a chicken kabob plate should look like. Not shown is the cucumber salad.

Okay boys and girls, don't waste your money at Chicken Maison or similar spots that give you miniscule chicken pieces on the shishkabob orders. If you truly want the best kabob for your money, come here and enjoy a delicious and Houmongus chunks of chicken kabob. The dish is made to order and the chicken it's absolutely juicy, tender and flavourful. The order comes with a generous portion of basmati rice, a huge tomato and pepper plus a side cucumber salad. I've been here before and other dishes such as the tri-tip, the chicken, the chicken skewers, the lentil soup, the potatoes have all been amazing. One order is sufficient for two people at a minuscule price. This grill is inside Jon's Market. It definitely does not disappoint. There are tables if you want to eat there and you don't mind the ambiance of not being a regular restaurant but you will be glad that you came to eat all of this amazing food.

Located inside Jon's market, I had no idea that this place existed until our friends catered chicken and beef kabobs and veggies for our group gathering. The portions were big and everything was cooked well and tasted delicious. I've also had their tri tip and it's always cooked perfectly for my taste. Love this place!!

Located inside Jon's Market, you can choose traditional American BBQ or Middle Eastern food. Just like everything at Jon's, the quality is excellent and there's something for everyone at Market Grill. You can take out or order at the counter and dine-in. I usually order and then shop a little before picking up my order. Of course, I ordered the Chicken Koobideh. It came with, interestingly enough, a large corn muffin plus a delish cucumber condiment salad. Yum! The only thing missing was the garlic toum which I did purchase separately from the actual grocery section at Jon's. I would definitely be back again. Parking in the large lot.

I love stopping by here when I get the chance! Fast, affordable, delicious and so many options. Everything is well seasoned. I haven't explored the b.b.q. side besides their chicken but everything to the left side is delicious! The picture shows a drink with their combo but they don't have drinks, ever. You're paying for the plate itself. They should at least reduce the cost since there's no actual drink included or remove the drinks from the photo. @makeMePrettie Highly recommend! Try different things when you're there!

Located inside Jon's Marketplace on 190th street in Torrance is Market Grill. Market Grill offers both Mediterranean cuisine and American cuisine. On the Mediterranean side one can get a variety of kabobs, lentil soup and basmati rice. One of my favorites is getting the Mixed Koobideh with Cali Rice and Dill and Fava Bean Rice. I love their different basmati rice. Typically combos just come with plain basmati rice but you can pay an extra $3 and get the special basmati rice that has veggies or other topings. The extra $3 is a tad pricey but the special basmati rice such as the Dill and Fava Bean rice is so good. It is a meal in itself. The American side is called the Smokehouse and they offer different bbq such as tritip, bbq ribs and sausage. The meat is so tender. You can pair the meats with a variety of sides such as creamed spinach and potato wedges. Prices range from $8.99 lunch specials to mixed plates for $16.99. The prices are fairly good and you get a ton of food. They also offer specials of the week which can be found in their weekly ads. I love getting lunch here after grocery shopping at Jon's because the food is fair in price and great in taste.

Just tried their food for the very first time yesterday. All I have to say is yum yum. Ridiculously good. Good portions. Excellent prices. Huge selection. What else can you ask for. Beef & Chicken Koobedeh Combo $12.03 including tax. Opted the salad instead of the rice

So good! Who would've guessed that a grocery store deli style Mediterranean/Smoked BBQ meats place would be so good? I don't have pics of our food cuz we ate it so quick! Was looking for some Mediterranean food around where I was driving and came across the yelp reviews here. Granted there aren't a lot but they are all high. I decided to give it a shot and we ordered the beef koubideh plate, the chicken koubideh lunch special (a good deal) and the chicken kebab plate. Everything was deeeelish! I also ordered 2 lbs of their smoked baby back ribs and 1 lb of smoked tri-tip (sold by the pound or as dinner combos with sides) to bring home for dinner. The meats were really well done! Even after reheating they were tender and the flavor was such smoky goodness. Their bbq sauce tasted homemade it I really liked it--it wasn't too tangy or too salty. Would definitely order from here again!! We did have to wait for them to cook the lunch food but we just shopped around the Jon's marketplace!

I wanted to follow up my very short review that I wrote about this restaurant over a decade ago as I have continued to frequent this restaurant and I have always enjoyed their food. What they offer here is a really nice selection of Mediterranean-based cuisine. They always use the best ingredients, and the food always arrives with a great presentation. Mostly, the food here tastes very-very good. And, isn't that the right reason you actually go to a restaurant in the first place? This is a family-owned and operated business. From this, you can really tell that everybody who works here really cares about the restaurant and the customers. Thus, it's always a great dining experience. Their menu offers a really nice selection of everything from gyro's to kebabs onto salads and the like. There's a really nice choice of both entrées and side dishes for you to choose from. The one thing I will say about this establishment, and this is certainly not a criticism, but whenever you eat here, they always keep the food coming. Whether it is the pita chips, the pita bread, the whatever, when you leave here you are going to be very-very full. This restaurant is located just off of Hawthorne Boulevard and a block from PCH. Thus, it's very easy to find. In terms of parking they have a parking lot over to one side of the building. You could always find a spot there. They also have a number of spots on the street, in front of the restaurant. This is where I always prefer to park. Easy in, easy out. Overall, if you're looking for some great Mediterranean-based food, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

I've never eaten in, but I've picked up food from here twice and have enjoyed their food at my sister's house at least one other time. The first thing I don't understand is how this place is in Torrance rather than Redondo Beach. I don't mean that I don't understand why they chose Torrance over Redondo Beach; I mean that I just don't understand the two cities' boundaries very well, because this feels like straight-up North Redondo to me. The second thing I don't understand is how this place hasn't expanded or multiplied or otherwise won the hearts and minds and stomachs of South Bayers near and far. But maybe it already has. The third thing I don't understand is why I don't come here more often. It's not that far from my sister's house, and I was dog-sitting there earlier this year. . . . I'm fresh out of things I don't understand. What I do understand is that the owners of this place (an Armenian brother and sister?) are amazing. The food is so good and fresh and flavorful. The menu is kind of all over the place, which in most cases is a red flag, but in the case of more than one restaurant owned and operated by Armenians (I'm including my cousin's restaurant before he sold it and retired), the more different items on the menu, the better. Or at least it's not a red flag. I promise. The combo deal is legit, but even without that deal, the prices are good, especially when you consider the food quality. Writing his review now makes me miss King Mediterrano even though I don't normally miss it or think about it. Those days are over. Next time I have calories to collect in the South Bay, I'm headed straight for Redondo Beach Boulevard.

The menu also features traditional Pakistani, Persian, and Arabic dishes, such as Beef Nihari and Haleem. After several visits, here are my thoughts on some of their grilled meats and desserts. Beef Kofta - 3/5. The kofta was a bit dry and tough. I wish it had more fat and seasoning to make it juicier and more flavorful. The grilling is also somewhat inconsistent--sometimes the kofta comes out beautifully browned, while other times it's over-charred. Grilled Fish - 4/5. This is easily my favorite item on the menu and, in my opinion, their best dish. The fish is seasoned just enough to enhance its natural flavor without overpowering it. It's grilled very well, developing a beautiful golden-brown crust while remaining moist and tender inside. Beef Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. The quality of the beef is decent, especially considering the price. Given the cut of meat they use, they've done a commendable job with the grilling. The beef has a solid seasoning base and a nice sear with just enough char to add flavor without becoming overly smoky. It's reasonably tender, though I wish it retained a bit more juiciness. Chicken Shish Kebab - 3.5/5. Very similar to the beef shish kebab. It has good flavor and is grilled well, but it could benefit from being a little juicier. Gyro - 2/5. Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment. The gyro meat on the vertical spit often appears to be rotating without enough heat to properly caramelize and crisp the exterior. As a result, the meat comes across as dry, rubbery, and lacking the rich roasted flavor that makes a great gyro. Kunafa (Knafeh) - 3/5. This dessert has both strengths and weaknesses. The cheese filling has a pleasant, slightly salty flavor and a creamy texture, and I appreciate that it isn't overly sweet. However, the syrup is underwhelming. A good kunafa should be generously coated with a fragrant sugar syrup - ideally infused with rose water or orange blossom water - to provide sweetness and aroma. I also wish the kataifi, the shredded pastry dough, were crispier and lighter to create a better contrast with the gooey cheese filling. Overall, Al Hamra Kabob Grill is one of the better places to enjoy Middle Eastern-style grilled dishes in the South Bay. While a few menu items could be improved, the grilled fish stands out as excellent, and the shish kebabs are solid choices. The owner is also incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm, neighborhood atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. It's not perfect, but it's a restaurant I enjoy visiting from time to time and one I'd recommend if you're craving grilled Middle Eastern flavors.
