The first time I tried it, my husband picked up our order. He waited quite a while for it to be ready, but it was clearly understaffed, and we aren't the type of people to complain. Despite the fact that we didn't raise any concerns, we later received a call from the manager acknowledging that service had been slow and that she had noticed him waiting for an extended period of time. She offered us a $5 credit for our next visit. That kind of unprompted gesture reflects good customer service, and we genuinely appreciated the effort. We ordered a few different wing flavors and I also tried the Rose Ddeok-Bokki (none of which I took photos of). My husband and I agreed that the chicken itself was just okay, though he did note that he liked something about the batter used for the breading. Given the price, we had higher expectations--it's fairly expensive for a relatively small amount of chicken. The Rose Ddeok-Bokki, however, was very rich and flavorful. It was my first time trying tteokbokki, and I wasn't prepared for how fishy the flavor was. I thought it was really good at first, but it became a bit overwhelming the more I ate. More recently, I decided to try their standard Ddeok-Bokki, which is less creamy and has more of a spicy kick. I ordered it without the added cheese this time, which was the right choice. My palate was more prepared for the fishy flavor, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. That said, it is fairly spicy, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't enjoy heat. There is another version of this dish on the menu that is apparently much spicier, placing this one in the middle of their spice scale. I did find it became overwhelming toward the end, but that was more due to the spice level than the flavor itself. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5. had such high hopes for bb.q chicken but I really didn't care for the flavor of the sauce and the kimchi fried rice was OK but not great, although it was really spicy. Loved the pickled radish. Prices are really high - hope she can keep things going but I'm fearful this location isn't ideal and the market in the twin cities for KFC is getting a little saturated as there are other options. Street parking is super busy and there are some other good options within half a block (Que Viet and Green Mill) - also, KFC doesn't really travel well, especially when there is a layer of heavy sauce on it. My only critique is that I wish they coated the wings with the sauce a little more intentionally (it was more like uneven patches of sauce, not a full coat - pictured). I tried bb.q Chicken one Tuesday evening by myself. I arrived before 6pm and glad I did as there was a steady line there after. Only one person running the front of house and she did great but boy was she busy! I ordered boneless chicken - 1 order with Secret Spicy Sauce and 1 order with Kalbi Sauce. They also offered a free side of sweet pickled Daikon. Each order is made fresh so there is a bit of a wait time. This could be challenging moving forward as their dining space isn't very big to allow for a long period before turning tables. I hope they will improve timing with more experience. My order arrived piping hot and delicious. My favorite of the two sauces was the Secret Spicy sauce. It was generously coated and not too spicy. The crunch factor of the batter was on point and the quality of the chicken was excellent. The Kalbi sauce was fine but rather run of the mill and a bit lacking in quantity. This will become my new go to for Korean fried chicken. My spouse and I have said that this is comparable to a place we love in Chicago. This place is a little small but it's enough space if you want to dine in. They need to do some clean of the corners since it's a little messy. Drinks and utensils are self serve. My spouse and I love only their whole chicken cuts. There are 3 flavors and I wish there was more. The wings are only okay but if you want juicy and mouthwatering, get the whole chicken. We ordered the secret sauce and it was good but a little too sweet for my tasting. I do like the spicy sauce though. As for their rose rice cake dish, it's okay so thought the portion would be bigger. I like my rice cake dish to be spicer but it wasn't.
