    Chicken gizzards
    Cecilia H.

Was craving fried chicken very badly and found this place on yelp! Has its own parking lot. The menu on the wall is very limited, find the to go menu that's on their counter for more food items to choose from. This place is basically offers fried chicken, fried fish, and gyros. We tried the gizzards and the wings + catfish combo. Gizzards weed good except they were hole chunks, it would've been more convenient if they were cut in half for better eating. (Less chewing) Catfish was dry and the batter fell off right when you break into it, which tells me it's frozen in my opinion. Chicken wings were ok, I wish they were more juicy inside. Not sure if they were frozen and then fried or fried half way and then fried again to order because it was very very well done. I felt it took 15 minutes for our food to come. Which is good to know for next time to order ahead. The sprinkle they put on our food was not bad, I can't explain it, lemon pepper, salt, and sugar kind of mix. Fries were not bad. Coleslaw was eh. They also ran out of tarter sauce that day!! Whhhyyy Anyways TBH, gizzards were good enough for me to provide 4 stars, and I would rate 3 stars for the wings and catfish.

    Oddly colored chicken wings....

First, there is a menu on the wall, and I nearly left not seeing anything I wanted. But take a look at the menu on the counter. I was surprised that they only service chicken nuggets, tenders or wings, because I wanted whole pieces. I ordered wings. The seasoning was very tasty, but I have to say, under the skins the chicken wings had a strange gray/black tone. Like the chicken totally bruised. Also the skins and 'hair' from plunking. Weird and not appetizing. Fries were very good. Coleslaw was disgusting. Made days and days ago. Overall pretty good but next time Id just get chicken strips to avoid the color and 'hair.'

Love the staff and the catfish and fries are excellent! Reasonable prices too. The umbiance lacks but that's why the prices are low.

Plus with our spouses out of town it was a great excuse for a "boys night out" in downtown. Things were a bit quiet (it's January after all) but that was ok with me. We sat in a great two-person booth facing the huge bar. The restaurant features inventive cocktails so I had my usual when places have skilled bartenders-Markers Mark whiskey sour-made perfectly. The food menu features a lot of very reasonably priced fish and seafood dishes and some pricey steaks like a fillet for $88 (wow!). Sides are separate and they've got a long list of tantalizing starters too although you MUST try the amazing shrimp/avocado boats-4 crunchy little endive boats with a delicious ceviche-like mixture of tiny shrimp. Scrumptious!! And just a lite bite so you definitely have room for the fluffy grougheres with the fontina cheese dip. We tried the hanger steak-nicely prepared and the seared halibut with a Moroccan-style sauce-very interesting. For sides we loved the potato pave(square of scalloped potatoes) and the fried eggplant with a sticky honey bbq drizzle. Our server Dominica took excellent care of us a Carl did a nice job assisting-water glasses were always full (to me a mark of a well run place). Alas, as with all the spots on Washington parking can be an issue. They offer valet ($15) but I luckily found a spot on the street 1-block down. Definitely will be back soon.

I would skip St. Pierre. I went in hoping for a slightly elevated happy hour that could turn into…read moredinner if the food delivered, but the experience did not justify the price point or reputation. We arrived around 5:30 p.m., about 30 minutes after opening. The room was dark, cramped, and louder than the small space can really support. The playlist was distracting, and the kitchen staff audibly singing along did not help the atmosphere. Service was well-intentioned but missed the mark. Our server could not tell us whether the main component of a dish was cucumber, fennel, both, or something else, which is a basic menu question at this price point. Timing was off throughout the meal, so if you are expecting polished, well-paced service, I would look elsewhere. The food was the biggest disappointment. I could see an attempt at creativity, but the dishes felt more confused than composed. Several flavors landed at extremes: too sweet, too spicy, or too heavy on fishy funk, without enough balance to pull them together. It felt like "fusion" without a clear point of view. Parking is also difficult in this part of the North Loop, so plan for a ramp, valet, or extra time and money. I would not return for happy hour, dinner, a hosted meal, or a special occasion.

The fries were nicely seasoned but are definitely the kind you want to dip in ketchup to really enjoy. It came with around six pieces which was probably twice as much food as I was expecting to get. My friend had a lobster roll which looked pretty good, but for $34 it had better be. I had a taste and would say it was good but not great, which means I personally wouldn't pay $30+ for one. The guy at the register was very friendly and this place was probably going to get a 4-star review overall, but when my friend's daughter found they didn't give any sauce to go with her fried shrimp basket and he went back to the counter to ask for it, they charged him $.50 for a small plastic cup of cocktail sauce. My wife had also got a shrimp basket and theirs came with cocktail sauce. I'm really not sure what was going on, but in what universe would you sell somebody a fried shrimp meal and then charge extra for dipping sauce? It's makes no sense, and it's even wilder to see my friend getting nickel-and-dimed after he'd just spent over $50 on food for just himself and his daughter. I shouldn't have to warn you all to verify your food will come with sauce, but here we are.
