Ordered 1/2 slab of pork ribs, mac n cheese and cornbread. Most bbq joints either specify what type of ribs you are getting and I wouldn't guess babyback. I think they need to specify that instead of listing them as ribs and no type. Usually you are getting spare ribs or St Louis. With that said I am not a fan of babyback ribs unless they are tender and these were very dry and not much fat on them. Mac was ok a little spicy not my thing. Cornbread overly sweet and grainy. The combo of menu items offer so many yummy cultural dishes. If you like it hot they will make it happen. I have never had Mac n cheese made with queso. DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU WOULD REGRET IT!! Mike and his bbq pit team deserves recognition for their perfectly cooked, juiciest beef brisket, pork ribs, flavorful beef Dino ribs (a premium gigantic and super flavorful beef rib) and pulled pork. Yeah, pretty much everything we tried we loved. The Asian inspired fried egg roll is creative and crunchy, paired perfectly with the sweet duck sauce. We initially didn't order beef brisket because many other brisket we've tried at other bbq places were dry and uninspiring. Mike's crew bought a sampling of their brisket to us and told us he can't let us go without us trying their briskets... Guess what, after sampling it we immediately ordered half a lb on a full stomach and finished it in a flash, that's how good those briskets are! We are always on the look out for local BBQ joints and BBQ by Mike nailed it. Probably the best within a 300 mile radius. If you are visiting Syracuse/Rochester/Buffalo and Niagara Falls area on your NY road trip, forget about the stupid Buffalo Chicken Wings, chain BBQ restaurants and those fake BBQ spots on the Canadian side of the falls. You MUST stop by Mikes if you value real and perfectly cooked BBQ! It's worth the drive! I went here on impulse when we were getting gas, and boy am I glad we did. I went right for the brisket because that's really the gold standard for barbecue, if you can make a juicy tender flavorful brisket you've nailed the barbecue game - and boy it was exceptional. I could cut it with my plastic fork. I also got a side of the beans and they are so much more than beans. Peppers sausage bacon, delicious. This is definitely one of the hidden gem close to Lewiston. I have not had bbq this good since my trip to Austin Texas. Let's start the review: 1. Corn bread: it's not on the official menu yet, but definitely ask for it if it's available. Not too sweet, the corn bread is so fluffy, you don't need your teeth to chew at all. 2. Beef ribs: my absolute favorite item on the menu. The ribs has a perfect ratio of fat and lean meat, fall of the born tender and you don't need any sauce (their bbq sauce is excellent). A must have! 3. Brisket: smoky and tender, melts in your mouth. You can eat this if you don't have any teeth! The meat was perfectly seasoned as always and you don't need sauce at all. This is real bbq and its super good. The candy bacon is a must, the fat melts in your mouth and I really like the bits of pepper on it. The brisket and pulled pork are super tender. We weren't sure what to expect but this is the best brisket I've ever eaten and I've been eating brisket all over the country. The beans were a surprise because they had a sweet tangy sauce and had peppers, brisket, bacon and sausage in them. Incredible stuff. I could have eaten a whole meal of just the beans. I'm married to a Texas native who is a BBQ lover and experienced home cook. I've had fantastic brisket in TX and spent a lot of hours hearing about the finer details of creating the perfect brisket and the genius of Aaron Franklin. We recently visited Buffalo for the Jason Isbell concert (fantastic show!) and read the reviews of BBQ by Mike. We knew we had to try it. So glad we did. We were glad that we were warned that it's easy to miss because it's a non-descript white shed with next to a gas station. There's covered outdoor seating, which was great in August, but might not be a great choice in December. But none of that matters. Simply put, the food was exceptional. The brisket was the best we'd ever had. And you should not miss the candied bacon or loaded baked beans. They were also amazing. The mac and cheese was homemade and so tasty. The guys who made this magic happen were really friendly and seemed to genuinely care that we loved their food. As we were waiting for our order, we were chatting with one of the other folks who was waiting. He said that he drives 2 hours each way to get Mike's BBQ. We understand why. read more

Definitely worth the drive to Sanborn. I've been here twice in the last month with my boyfriend. We've tried the pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, smoked Italian sausage, and pork ribs. Everything was excellent. My favorite are the ribs. Their sauce is the best I've had in western NY, not too sweet with a spicy kick. All of the meat was tender and not chewy. My boyfriend is like Joey from "Friends," - he doesn't share food. His smoked sausage was so good that he offered me a bite (first time he has shared food with me after months of dating)! Both times we have gone, Mike has been there and given us samples of candied bacon (to die for) and baked beans (more like chili than traditional baked beans). Next time we plan on trying the lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and the Dino ribs. Everything is made in house, except the potato salad. Mike really knows how to bbq.
