Great place. The food's not too fancy, but it's tasty and priced right. The red wine is terrible, but I guess I could probably expect that. I like that they allow non-kids to order from the kids menu. I get a heap of pulled pork and two sides for nine bucks. It's good for two full meals. Service is always friendly, too. One complaint: that parking lot sucks, full of potholes and ankles waiting to be broken whilst walking to your car. read more

Parking was easy. They had a pretty open space. Had a short wait before we could get seated at a table. There was a window near the front where you could see them prep the meats for the bbq. Our server was good. We enjoyed our food; ordered a 3 meat combo. It came with garlic Texas toast and two sides--we chose bbq beans and Mac and cheese. We got the Turkey, brisket and Italian sausage. The ambiance is just very simple and casual. It's a combination of a bar, resturant with tables, no booths. Foos is very good and flavourful. The combination of dry rubs and their own homemade BBQ sauces. The meats are very tender, and the side dishes are delicious. You get 2 choices with your meats. Baked beans, Mac n cheese, apple sauce, salad,coleslaw, fries. They have 2 sauces on the table. One BBQ is a little sweet and spicy, one vinegar based BBQ sauce. They have an opened bar for drinks and a variety of beers. The service is fast and friendly, and your food comes out quickly and hot. We had heard good things and really wanted to like OEJ. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. The good: we ordered for takeout, and the food was promptly made and fresh. In spite of being takeout, the French fries were crisp and not soggy, and very tasty. The coleslaw was perfect for us, as it was not in a heavy-mayo sauce. It was fresh and tasty. The meh: the garlic bread was disappointing, greasy and lacking in flavor. The brisket sandwich was okay, it had good flavor, but nothing stellar. The bad: the bbq sauce is SWEET. All of us felt that it was overwhelmingly sugary. The 1/2 chicken, the breast meat in particular, was somewhat rubbery, and the chicken was under-seasoned. The pulled pork sandwich was very good taste-wise, but extremely, almost embarrassingly , skimpy on meat, and the roll overwhelmed the pork. Overall, with the expense of eating out these days, OEJ is just not somewhere we'll return to. read more

Not only did i order it for my son's graduation party in July and everything was perfect but on New Year's Eve we put in a big order and picked it up... when we got it home we noticed that we were shorted chicken. We called and talked to the owner and explained what had happened and she was amazing!!!! Tried One-Eyed Jacks for the first time this week. I wasn't super impressed. The sides were all average. Didn't love the pulled pork. The brisket was cooked nice. It was my second time here. Place is simple yet clean. Our server was very attentive and nice. The food was good however, i wished it was fresh. I was expecting my brisket will be freshly cut and juicy. just like the first time i had it. However, it was dry and obviously leftover trim. The chicken was the same, not fresh and dry. There was one piece of brisket that was juicy and tender, but the rest was quite dry. The pulled pork was dry as well and lacked flavor. Great service, great atmosphere! I had samples of different meats. I tried everything without sauce first. The Chicken is probably the best I've ever had. The Ribs are good. Very meaty and good taste. The pulled Pork was very good. Great texture and great taste. The brisket was a no for me. It has no taste. Tried it with the BBQ sauce and the sauce was way too sweet for me. Please keep in mind people have different taste. Glad to see the "original" French fries back again; much tastier than the supply chain substitution offered for months. Ribs, brisket, pigkin (mix of pulled pork and chicken) all always good. It's been a while since I've been to this restaurant. Well I can tell you the food certainly changed for the worst. Me and my wife ordered the High Roller BBQ Feast, with Mac n Cheese and fries. We wanted to get the Onion Strips, however they were out of the apparently for a while. Also we wanted to try the Raspberry bbq but they were out if that as well. (Maybe put on the menu that it is not available). So it didn't take very long to get the food which was a red flag for me, they probably just warmed it up and sent it out. We waited at least 5 minutes to get the bbq sauces we ordered and by then the food was cold. I tried the Mac n Cheese it was not fresh it tasted like it was made the day before and heated up. Then I tried the fries, they were good but the ketchup tasted horrible it must have been spoiled. The ribs deserve a paragraph to themselves. I remember the ribs were very good the last time so this is what I came in for. The ribs were small and not very meaty they tasted like salty ham and very fatty. These are not award winning ribs to me. They were dry and just overall unappealing. I am very shocked this place has 4 stars and I hope that this was just a bad day for them. Saw a list on Step out Buffalo of the top 10 best BBQ places in WNY and decided to check this one out. Really neat Western atmosphere, friendly service, and finger lickin' good meats and sides. I'm a Mac and cheese snob, and this one was definitely cheesy and delicious! My catfish was cornmeal crusted, quarter chicken breast was moist, fries however were just so so.... hoping they can add mashed potatoes or potato wedges in the future. My father and his girlfriend got the brisket and burnt ends (pork) and both of them were impressed with the flavor of the meat. This review might of been 5 stars if not for the lack of dessert menu. I love my southern desserts, so where was the pecan pie, cobblers, or bread pudding? Even without a "sweet" ending to this visit , I'll be back to try some sandwiches next time. read more

My father kept hearing about this place from his friends, so I called and made a reservation for lunch the day before Father's Day. Turns out I did not need a reservation, as the dining room was busy, but not packed. The first thing that hits you when you enter is a wall of deliciousness. Smoke and meat. Turns out their smokehouse is indoors, and you can observe the pit master at work from behind a glass wall. Very neat. We were seated quickly by a very friendly waitress. Though it got busier as we ate, we never had to wait for a drink refill, and she was very attentive overall. The food. OMG, the food. I've taken to judging BBQ by the brisket. Anyone can do pulled pork. Anyone can do pulled chicken. Brisket is an art, because it is so lean to begin with. Sadly, I have never had good brisket...until now. The brisket was juicy and had a perfect layer of smoke. You can add your own BBQ sauce, but it truly did not need it. I was amazed. I did not order the ribs, but tried one and it was FANTASTIC. Flavorful, fall-off-the-bone perfection. The BBQ (sticky bourbon, I believe) merely added to how wonderful the ribs were, it was not there to cover them up. The pulled pork was delicious, and they did a great job removing most of the globs of fat you get with shoulders. The smoked roast beef was great, even the next day for lunch (2 meals for the price of 1. How can you beat that!?). The mac and cheese was not gritty. The sauce was smooth and delicious with a hint of cayenne, I believe. All-in-all, this is a fantastic little place that knows their meat! We are BBQ snobs and it's difficult to find a decent place this far up north. We have been to a few competitions and a relative owns a joint up in Chicago area. I couldn't give it a 5-Star rating only because I couldn't give 1/2 star, otherwise I'd have given 4-1/2. To be honest we've never been to a commercial establishment that would rate 5-stars, so I couldn't recommend a better place than this one. You can't go wrong even if it's a long(er) drive for you. read more
