Nice people, nothing overly impressive for taste, quality or portion sizes. Probably won't be back.

Good food rude staff. Kind of don't want to give them my business since they are so rude. Also they do not cook the onion rings fully... there is always a big glob of uncooked flour in the middle. I thought it was a fluke but this happened several times. Also if you call in an order and ask when it will be ready they refuse to answer the question they state "it will be ready when you get here." I live 3 minutes from the location and needed to know as I would like to spend as little time here as possible due to the rude staff. Also the food was not ready when I got there. Again, good food just don't get the onion rings unless you want them raw. Getting good food is not worth the rude staff. read more

The only way I'd eat here again is if it were free. I have NO idea why there was a 14 minute line for a take-out order. I think it's an example of "everybody comes here because everybody else comes here." The Burger was dry and fairly tasteless, with cheap American cheese thrown on a cheap bun, not on the burger, so it wasn't even melted. The pork BBQ was, again, pretty much tasteless. Not a hint of seasoning or even smoke on the meat. The vinegar sauce was not tasteless. ...it tasted like vinegar. If I were a fancy food reviewer I'd say, "The sauce lacked complexity." The service was fast and friendly; it only took 5 minutes to get my food. The prices are pretty fair. Stop by and try it. You may love the place. Like I said, it's not bad. read more

I live in Huntersville and have been to most of the famous "joints" - including Kansas City, Memphis and Lexington. They are all great in there own, unique way (sauce, style, sides, etc.). This is, by far, my favorite local BBQ - always fresh, consistent and delicious. I have been dining at BBQ King for over 18 years. Not complicated - no gimmicks - and reasonable in price. I love their hot dogs as well (all the way). Always a treat when we are in that area. This is why they endure in this day of crappy chain concept restaurants. Eat local! read more

We absolutely love this place. Stumbled upon it several years ago on our way to the High Country from Central Florida. Now we work it into our travel plans including not going up on Sunday and leaving here around 4AM so we hit Lincolnton around lunchtime. For us it is that good. We always order the pork plate or tray. Love the bbq, the sauce, and the hush puppies. Great tea, friendly service and a tradition we will ccntinue. Long live Bar-B-Que King! read more

Visited this evening as I heard they had good burgers so wanted to give one a try. While the burger and fries were good I can't say one good thing about the young lady that waited on me. RUDE on all levels, does not need to be running a cash register and working with the public. Who is in charge of these teenagers running this restaurant??? Do some training for your staff on how to be polite, say thank you and may I help you. Don't be drinking your beverage while taking someone's order. I will not go back here. read more

This was the worst BBQ I have ever had!! It was bland and the sauce tasted like ketchup! The food was lukewarm at best. My wife and I tried putting salt and pepper on the food in the hopes that the food would get better but alas it was all for naught. You could tell there was no sort of rub on the meat. What kind of BBQ restaurant doesn't have ribs on their menu? I have been to a dew other BbQ restaurants since I moved here 3 years ago and this is the WORST!! Never disappointed. Food is fresh. Onion rings are awesome. Our go to for a warm and cozy meal.

On our way to Asheville, NC by ways of Columbia, SC we decided to take a lunch break off of the highway exit into Lincolnton. We passed one BBQ place close to the exit, decided to drive into town a little further and ran into BBQ King - this was a very pleasant surprise. I can't judge the BBQ based on the "southern regional wars" on who has the best BBQ - all I can say the food is damn good. The hush puppies were great, the slaw was great, and the bbq was awesome. Wish we had one closer to where we live. read more

I grew up eating here and love their cheese burgers (like a hot dog) and half & half sandwiches. It's just annoying that I have to have cash or a check to order from there. I would eat here more often if it wasn't for that inconvenience. read more

I gave them a five because everything I had was tasty. Good barbecue sandwich and thin sliced sweet onion rings. Just like I like. Fast service even though very busy. They also carry burgers foe the non barbecue folks like my kid. Even offer a half and half for those who can't make up their mind between barbecue or burger. read more

The food is ok. It's better than most food in Lincolnton. The employees are nice. The BBQ is my favorite in this area. Nothing compares to Gary's in China Grove, but when you don't feel like driving that far, this place is just fine. read more

3rd attempt eating here and just like the first two times, my order was wrong. Their process of screaming orders is apparently ineffective and out dated. Ordered a large BBQ sandwich with just meat and a large order of fries. I received a sandwich with coleslaw and pickles with no fries. I'll definitely not give them a try again. read more

I had the half bbq plate. Very generous amount. Fries could have been a bit crispier. Hush puppies and slaw were quite good. Great sweet tea. I found the flavor of the q lacking. Relied more on the sauce for taste. I prefer western style myself. Sauce lacked a lot of flavor as far as spices go. Not terrible though. Was disappointed that as I approached our booth, my wife was busy cleaning the table which was left covered with ketchup as well as the seats. First let me say. I am FROM Lincolnton. For as long as I can remember BBQ king has been here. I've eaten here a million times. After last night's experience though I have to say something. It started with waiting in the most disorganized line I've ever been in. 3 people cut in front of me, no one knew if they should go left or right, some teenager was hanging at the counter blocking valuable space because he was goofing around with his friend who was working the kitchen. It was bad. I then watched the teenager working the counter be terribly rude to a woman in front of me. We'd been waiting 10 minutes or more at this point and she was informed her takeout order wasn't ready. She stepped to the side and checked her food when she received it. It wasn't right. So she asked them to fix it. The counter teenager visible sighed and rolled her eyes. During this entire exchange mind you, trays of food are being placed on the counter in front of us and people are literally elbowing their way to pick up their food. Every time this happens, the line breaks and people get confused. At least 7 people while I waited came up to tell the band of teenagers managing this nonsense that their orders were wrong. At one point the cook and the counter crew were openly arguing and making snide comments towards one another. Tickets were being lost or misplaced, I know that because they said it out loud at least 5 times. I finally received my food and got the hell out of here. My thought after I left..WHERE IS THE GROWN UP?! I get home......order wrong. Should have been smart like the lady in front of me. I couldn't stand the thought of going BACK into that madness so I ate what I received. BBQ was bland, I received no sauce with my order, slaw was also bland and watery, hush puppies were very good. Fries were very good. I wouldn't know about the onion rings...didn't get those. I'll be heading to Denver or GASTONIA for my BBQ cravings from now on. Sorry BBQ King but you might need to hire some grown ups. This is total chaos. read more

Pretty good barbecue and fries. Get a lot food. Good for a quick bite to eat. Low key atmosphere. Pick up and seat yourself type of place.

Foods ok but not the best and bring cash. They don't take cards and the ATM fee is crazy high. Ordering off a menu that looks like it came from a retired high football stadium is weird and looks dirty. read more

This place is our excuse to come to Lincolnton from Huntersville for their BBQ. Great food and very friendly workers. I'm glad we will be moving here in a month. I know my husband will be living here because this is where we eat every time we come to Lincolnton. I have lived in Lincolnton my whole life, and although I know this place is popular among locals, I had never tried it. I finally did though, this past summer and was unimpressed. For one, they only take cash. My husband and I didn't realize this and we were treated rudely when told otherwise. As a matter of fact the whole staff seemed pretty rude. I had a poor girl with fries. The fries are cold and bland, don't expect anything special if you love seasoned fries. The poor girl was ok. The reason they get 3 stars instead of 1 is because I tried the onion rings and they were seriously the best I've ever had. So at least they have something going for them. I honestly don't see what the hype is and think there are much better places in Lincolnton if you like barbecue/burgers. Next time I will just go to Sweetfire. read more
