Good food and friendly staff! They have a good variety and the pricing is good too. Hard to find quality food at these prices!

Another food safari and another BBQ crawl with my son-in-law (we're both aspiring pitmasters and…read morelove to try new places together; it's our thing). This week's excursion brought us to Struggletown BBQ in Mount Sinai, NY. From what I learned, what started as a food truck morphed into a brick-and-mortar business that has obviously hit its stride. This place is awesome! On the table this time was a "Big John Sampler", a 1/4# platter of brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs, as well as a side of chicken wings in an Alabama White Sauce and corn bread. Absolute winners all around. My first real introduction to corn bread was from Paul Prudhomme's cookbook "Louisiana Kitchen," where I learned to make, and love, a traditional southern corn bread (moist, flaky, and somewhat sweet). Of all the places that I've been to, in my humble opinion, this place has the best outside K-Paul's. There is a reason that it's one of the most requested items from the restaurant. It was excellent! Why am I making a fuss about cornbread? Because it's the details that make a restaurant great. Next came the chicken wings in Alabama White Sauce. I'm now a convert. Sure, I've had it a few times, but this version was eye-opening! Perfectly smoked, then fried chicken wings slathered in this red-sauce alternative was an epiphany for me. I don't think I'll ever look at the humble chicken wing the same way again. I am spoiled for life! Goodbye Buffalo, hello Decatur (where the sauce reputedly originated). Yeah, that good and worth traveling for. The meats? What you want from a BBQ joint. The brisket, pulled pork, and chicken were all juicy and smoked to perfection; the ribs had a smoke ring that made me jealous of their skill set (I'll get there one day). Have I said "awesome? yet? Plenty of parking, all cards, and they cater! This is one of those places that you'll want to day trip to if you're jonesing for some smoky greatness. Very nice people behind the counter and a magician working the pits. You gotta go here. Just not on a Monday, they're closed.

They're perfect with the pickles, and while the jalapeños are good too, the pickles really take them to another level. I also think the seasoning really tastes amazing. The app is super easy to use and makes ordering incredibly convenient. Pickup is always ready right on time, and my order has never been wrong. The owner is one of the nicest people you'll meet and clearly cares about the customers. The restaurant always looks clean, welcoming, and well put together, which makes it an even better place to stop by. I don't remember the bar being there when the place first opened, but that could just be my memory. Either way, it's a really cool addition and gives the place a great atmosphere. Easy Munchies. Great food, great service... and the pens always work.

Vinny was incredible and we definitely need more people like him, he ensured each and every detail of our experience was a great one. These 5 stars are for you Vinny! Thank you for an incredible experience. He offered the Tuesday special which includes 20 wings, which you can have up to 4 choices of sauces, with large waffle fries. You can't beat that! Great quality chicken wings, cooked to perfection in their BBQ chipotle sauce and buffalo sauce. Sauce to wing ratio was amazing, not too soggy but crispy and juicy wings. We also tried their honey bbq sandwich and Nashville hot chicken. Both highly recommended! The ambiance was great! Made you feel like you were In a man cave, enjoying your favorite food watching your favorite football team! Definitely show some love to Vinny at Atomic wings, it's football season baby! Came here on a summer Saturday night for dinner with a party of 4, no reservations, but…read moresurprisingly had no issue of getting a table right as we came in. We had a table near the bar and the ambiance is very pretty, but can be a little dark. Noise level was perfect, could easily talk to everyone without feeling like I was hard of hearing. Service was kind and helpful, but it certainly felt slow. I would have ordered more drinks if they just had come around and checked in on us a touch more frequently! Although it did seem like they might have been down some staff that night, so I don't fully ding them for that. The most convenient parking is the paid lot right in front, but there is some street parking further away if you're willing to walk a little. The real reason you're here though is the food and drinks! Starting with cocktails, I tried their mezcal version of an espresso martini, 43 Espressions, it's a little bolder than your typical espresso martini, but that's what I also like about it more. Also tried the Lavender Fields, which is a delightfully fresh summer/spring cocktail that is very easily sippable. For a quick appetizer I tried the French onion soup, as classic as it ever has been. When you have found perfection, there is no need to try and reinvent it, and luckily they don't! On to the mains. I had Dave's Roasted Chicken. Perfectly cooked and the sides of paella rice and asparagus make an excellent pairing, serving size is the right amount to fill you up. Also tried their tagliatelle with red pepper romesco and skirt steak, which was fresh and not an overwhelming pasta portion like I'm typically used to from any Italian place. Even in spite of the less than stellar service time, I'd love to comeback here and try out more of the menu, especially some of their steak options and get a chance to try out the dessert menu too!
