So happy to see Billie's 1890 still here and thriving. Even though they had a fire a few years ago they have rebuilt and doing just fine. I remember Port Jeff being one of my old stomping grounds when I was single and partying. I drank many a Foster's oil cans during my nights here, and it was a fun singles scene. Good times! Since then they have extended a really nice deck area, good menu of pub food, and they offer live music, local artists, and a chill vibe. First time meeting friends here and enjoyed the vibe. Started at the bar where there was a wait to order drinks as well as receive them but it was a Saturday evening. Made our way to our table ( although we had a reservation still had to wait for the table to empty and then get reset). We were warmly greeted by our server Charlotte who was friendly and engaging and made several suggestions whether it was appetizers, main course or even special drinks. Started with the lettuce wraps and cauliflower bites which i highly recommend. Followed up with the Billie and Chester burgers which were outstanding. The chicken Milanese was pretty good for a non Italian restaurant although the Bleeker sandwich was a tad dry but otherwise good. The cheesecake and Irish coffees were well received to round out the evening. I was very impressed that Charlotte went out of her way to ask a staff member ( didn't get his name manager maybe) to double check for the availability of espresso coffee after we were informed they had none. My friends were extremely impressed as well as pleased a package of beans were found. I was impressed when I requested Tullsmure Dew and not Jameson Whiskey in my Irish Coffee. This used to be suck a great place. New patio is a nice addition but this review is for the food. I ordered chicken cutlet with bacon and cheese with a side Caesar salad. The chicken was sooo over cooked it was difficult to chew. The salad was swimming in dressing. Also inedible. Waitress didn't seem to care why I ate nothing and didn't want any of it to go. I want to say this joint holds a special place in my heart as the first bar I've ever been too! 17 years later and a few changes/upgrades have improved the overall experience. Billie's is a classic Pub, located on the cross roads of Main and East Main Streets in Port Jefferson village. I enjoyed watching the action and activity of Main Street from the large open windows while enjoying a Cold beverage and an even more amazing lunch. The food at billies was awesome and the portions were terrific as well. I had the Reuben sandwich which indeed was generously stuffed as well as offering a choice of either a salad, fries or onion rings. Billies atmosphere was great and even better service was provided by my server who introduced her self as Emma. She took great care of my drink and lunch needs with an even better attitude and friendly conversation. Emma never kept me waiting or in need, leaving me to feel like I was totally in good hands, "she was great". I've been coming here for years and have had the pleasure of getting to know many of their bartenders as they started there and then moved onto other endeavors. Yesterday there was a new face behind the bar named Melissa (nicknamed "Murph" and she is a STELLAR addition to the team! She is friendly, personable, and is so good at her job it's hard to believe she's one of their newer hires. She makes the best espresso martini I've ever had (which makes sense why she has a reputation for it). We came in when it was slow and out of nowhere the bar became PACKED and this girl didn't miss a beat. Billie's knew what they were doing adding her to the bar staff because she took on the entire bar area, service drinks for waitstaff and was even running food/drinks to tables when she had time- all with the biggest smile and best attitude. If you haven't been to Billie's for their incredible burgers, wings and ambiance then you MUST go down and meet the all mighty Murph. You can tell she enjoys her job and truly wants guests to feel welcome and happy to be there. Myself along with other guests were amazed at how on earth she took that entire bar on by herself she's a rockstar!! Great job Melissa!!!! Was out on the island for the weekend with my wife and we headed out to Port Jeff for the evening. I'd never been to Billie's before, but as we walked around on a Sunday evening, it looked invited and, also, happened to be one of the few places open and still serving food. We sat at a table in the bar area, and it seemed like mostly locals were hanging out, having drinks and watching the games on TV. We ordered a flatbread (buffalo chicken), an onion soup, and the brussels sprouts, all of which tasted really good. They have a nice selection of beers on tap, and the atmosphere was lively, but chill. This is definitely the kind of spot I'd want to come to more frequently if I lived nearby. I came to Billie's 1890 Saloon after work with a couple of friends on a Thursday night. I was surprised to see how busy the bar was on a Thursday night, but luckily that didn't prevent us from grabbing a table for 10 in the much quieter back area. We started with drinks and progressed our way through appetizers and ultimately, the entree. I was starving prior to coming in so I knew anything and everything would taste good. Food: 4/5 I ordered the impossible burger that they offer. Let me start by saying that the burger is quiet hefty and will definitely leave you satisfied. It comes with a side of fries or onion rings. As you can tell by my photo, you know which one I picked. While it wasn't the most amazing burger I've ever had, it did the job for me. It was reasonably priced as well given the size and the sides. When you order the impossible burger, make sure you ask for cheese otherwise the default is without cheese Service: Our waiter did a great job handling our group of 10. He was very prompt and able to accommodate our requests. As mentioned above, I initially forgot to order my burger with cheese. I had asked if they could take my burger back and put cheese on it. They did it without any problem and I got it back in under 5 minutes. Ambience: Nothing out of the ordinary. The restaurant looks very warm and inviting. The bar area is spacious and well maintained. The back restaurant area has plenty of tables. I recall the whole place being very dimly lit, but that didn't matter much to me. The back area is also much quieter so you're able to have conversations. Parking: Mostly street parking that is free in the winter read more

Pretty touristy spot as you enter Port Jefferson. We were seated quickly and they only had one server for the entire place, taking orders, sitting people and delivering food. Billies recently opened their pavilion! It's absolutely beautiful and definitely now Port Jeff's best outdoor seating and service area with plenty of shade. The service is incredible, makes such a difference when there is a server dedicated the outdoor area specifically. My husband and I have a long history with Billie's. We would come here for drinks before we were even dating. When news came that this place suffered a tragic fire I was devastated. It has taken me some time to come back as I was afraid it wasn't going to be the same as it was or have the same charm as it did for us. Since we had the afternoon off where and we had a babysitter on hand, we decided to check it out after a very long time. We were happy to see that the rebuild was just perfect and brought us back to the bar that we once frequented. Obviously I wasn't Yelping then, so here is my review and it's of our most recent trip here. Came in for lunch on a Friday afternoon, and it was not too busy but there was a decent amount of diners there. You could tell this bar was a staple of the community. We were able to pick our seats in front of the bar or towards the seating area. We decided to sit down at a small table top and reminisced about old times. Peter our waiter came over shortly after we sat and offered to take her drink order. I had a glass of Chardonnay as I was celebrating my birthday. We also put in an order of the spinach artichoke dip because we were pretty hungry. Usually at a bar I ask for a burger, but I saw they had a selection of flat breads on the menu and I picked the farmers flatbread. This had prosciutto, goat cheese, arugula and fig jam. I would have never guessed this would be on the menu and that it would actually be as delicious as it was. It was absolutely awesome. I am so happy that Billie's is still around and hope to go again when we're back in the area. I suggest you do the same if you ever find yourself in Port Jefferson as well. read more

Came here last week because I always drove past and wanted to try it out. It was pretty random. It was in the middle of the afternoon and I didn't intend to go in. We walk in, and the bar had about 10-15 people being served. For some reason, they were already riled up and pretty rowdy. It was our first time there so we didn't really know where to go or who to ask to be seated as we were planning to eat here. There were plenty of seating for dine-in. We were the first that day, from the looks of it. We passed the bar and at the end of it, there's a podium -- so naturally, we stood there until someone came to greet and seat us. No one came for what seemed like 3 long minutes. Finally, the guy behind the bar just told us to sit anywhere. We sat in the back where it was quieter. After that, no one was seen. Finally, my BF went to the bar to ask for menus. That's when the bartender realized he left us back there with no one to wait on us. He went into the kitchen and got a server who was doing work back there. She handed us menus and took our orders right away. Since we were the only ones in there, the food came out quickly. Here's what we ordered: - Irish Peasant Bread with parmesan aioli - drums & flats with saloon hot sauce - fried mac & cheese bites - Barnum Avenue - warmed corned beef, spicy mustard - Belle Terre - cold roast turkey, avocado, swiss, bacon and mayo - Peroni - Sam Adams Seasonal Everything was good. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the fried mac & cheese bites. The wings were very good -- that was the most memorable part of the meal. The food we got was delicious. My wife had the cauliflower crust flatbread, which was a little sweeter than she expected because of the jam on it, but still very good, and I had the fish and chips. The dunks were also very good and the ambiance was a lot of fun. We sat at the high tops in the bar which is more of the loud and a lot going on seeing...because it's a bar of course which is what we wanted that night, however there were much much quieter and low key tables in the back of the restaurant for the sit down eating experience. Last Saturday I stopped to Port Jefferson for the Ice Festival.The Main St was crowded.My friend and I went to Billies for lunch, the place had a lot of people at the bar and restaurant.Our server Mariib was very nice and helpful.I had a Potato Leek soup and a burger and my friend had pasta, the food was good.There are a lot of TV's for sports and they have contest for Jameson Shots.There is municipal parking and curbside also. My wife and I had a reuben and a sliced steak sandwich. They both came with French fries. The Reubens was the best that I have ever had- the bread was amazing, and it was so cheese. The steak sandwich was pretty great. The service was friendly and attentive. My wife requested a beer sample, and she ended up selecting the Sand City Blueberry beer, which she enjoyed immensely.
