Happened upon this charming place while bringing my son to college in the area. Was searching for a non-chain to try and learn about the local culture/community. The proprietor is fantastic. She's a pro and clearly cares. I loved how she described the menu and the way she shared some aspects of her recipes in the descriptions to let me know how/why what she puts out is special and different. Due to it being a small place, I could hear into the kitchen. I had the opportunity to hear, fully, how she's simultaneously running the front end and coaching a newly hired kitchen staff in the back. She was not shouting, not yelling, she was coaching. It will pay off. For the owner and how she runs her business, 2 stars. I got the chicken wing dinner. Was fine. Not note worthy. So 1 star for the food. Everything needed seasoning. We ordered 2 chicken wing dinners with macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and seasoned chips. My husband got garlic parmesan on his wings and I got mines plain with the coop sauce on the side. I didn't care for the coop sauce, I'm a plain kind of gal. I know everyone loves it though, it tastes similar to BBQ sauce. The dinner comes with 8 wings, corn bread and a feed pan (side). The chicken wings were of a substantial size, not the tiny ones you get from bars. I like my chicken wings breaded and these were just what I like, the breading had flavor to it. The mac and cheese and mash potatoes were so good. The seasoned chips were okay. I wish the corn bread muffin was bigger, it was really tasty but tiny. Brandie, owner, was very attentive and nice. She was busy running the front end, cleaning, taking care of take out orders and orders in the back. I now get why everyone raves about BC Chicken Coop. Recently called in my order while shopping in the area. I was a few mins late for pick up and that had ZERO impact on the quality. Ordered wings and The Rooster Digits dinner (4 large chicken tenders, side, cornbread - $15). The tenders were soo juicy and crispy! The homemade sauces are still delicious - though my fave will always be "coops sauce". Next time I will order an extra side of cornbread so that I can turn it into a sammich. I have been to BC's more than three times and the consistency of their fried chicken has been spot on. No complaints there! FYI all my visits were dine-in: takeout does not do justice to fried food. In my most recent visit I also sampled the ribs. Like what's advertised, they were soft but not to the point that the meat would fall when you grab one. The sauce was sweet, slightly tangy and a little smoky. However, the ribs are not the type that you would get crispy bits on the outside. Seasoned chips are on the saltier side and that's what's making them so irresistible :) A must try, they hold up surprisingly well as leftover: just preheat the oven to 350F and lay them out in a single layer on a sheet pan for a couple minutes until hot. read more

Sweet little spot in Webster for fried chicken! We usually get take out and it's still burning hot and crispy when it get's to Fairport. My parents love their house made chips more than any other side, and I'm a fan of the cornbread muffins. Important note: their chicken pieces are flour battered and fried while the wings and chicken digits are breaded and fried. Chris and the team are doing great things over there at The Coop! This crispy and savory chicken with well seasoned breading is so satisfying that it's well worth the trip to Main Street Webster from any distance. The homemade sides are delicious as well! I usually go for the mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. If you're not dead-set on only eating chicken (as you should be here), give their ribs a go. With a rich, smokey and semi-sweet sauce they're tender and will fall right off the bone when you bite right into them... After reading Andrew's mouth-watering review and then to see others raving about BC, I had to make a stop in ASAP. Everything seemed to be made in-house and made to order. The reviews about these well seasoned, fried crispy delights were right on. Perfect crunch on the outside and tender, juicy meat on the inside. They were well battered and tasted fresh without that residual old oil flavor. The sides were good, but my potato-lovin' self preferred the chips. These scrumptious chips were thin slices of potatoes and lightly salted. A crunch with each bite. The mac and cheese had a nice coat of cheese that tasted like mild cheddar and parm. The creamy chived mashed taters were topped with homemade gravy mildly seasoned with small bacon bits. The corn bread was crumbly and moist; slightly sweet and melt-in-your-mouth buttery deliciousness. The coop BBQ sauce was like traditional sauce. The tweet sauce was sweet like a maple flavor with a slight sour, peppery kick. The hot sauce tasted similar to Red Hot, but more vinegary with chunks of blue cheese. Yum. The service was superb. There's only 3-4 small tables in the tiny sit down area and another couple was already there, right in the middle, so the owner set up a table outside for us without asking. Glad to say business is good, as when we called to order they apologized it wouldn't be ready for an hour. No worries, in this crazy world I am glad they have business. Imagine you're in a room, tied up with a gun to you head, and the person holding the gun demands, "Where is the best fried chicken in Rochester?!" If BC's isn't your answer, you may not live. BC's Chicken Coop is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall restaurant that makes damn good fried chicken. You want finger-lickin'? You got it! The chicken itself comes from Skippy's on Ridge, and it's purchased fresh - always. The owners/chefs at Coop don't like that frozen stuff, and they'll buy the chicken whole and butcher it themselves for their dishes. Talk about high quality birds! The dredge on the chicken is a seasoned flour then batter mixture. From what I can tell, they thoroughly season the flour so you see the beautiful color on the chicken (even under the batter!). The batter has seasonings that I can't figure out but I know there's salt, pepper, and paprika. What else? I'll just let them keep their secret. Crispy skin that's packed with the perfect spice blend. Juicy chicken that doesn't skip a beat on the flavor. How can you go wrong??? The sides are great as well. I've had the coleslaw, seasoned chips, mac and cheese and the Spanish rice. Of them all, I actually wasn't as huge a fan of the Spanish rice as others in Yelp seem to be, but it was good, just not special enough that I'd get it again. The other 3 are definite repeats. Yum! Some meals come with cornbread, which the owner even admits is more like a corn muffin since it's a bit sweet. At the end of the day, it's just damn delicious. Had just a few grits from the masa and the little honey on top. Mm hmm! Honestly, I bought 6 extra to go home and stuff my face, even after having one with my meal. OK, last food thing - the sauce. The two I've tried are the Flaming Feather and the Coop sauce. All sauces are homemade, and the two I tried are amazing compliments to the meals. Dip the chips, chicken, or anything you want in the sauce. Hell, dip your finger and just lick it off! The restaurant is small and I agree with other reviewers that you should order ahead. 30-40 minutes to make food depending in the other orders they may have backing them up.
