We were driving through Wilmington. NC and looked online for an Asian buffet restaurant. We decided upon Bdobo Mongolian Grill. For those unfamiliar with the concept, you fill a bowl with raw ingredients (meat/seafood), vegetables, noodles, tofu, and sauces/oils/seasonings), which are then cooked on a giant grill by the chef. Bdobo Mongolian Grill provides All-You-Can-Eat BBQ for $11.99 (lunch until 2:30 pm). Higher prices after 2:30 and for dinner. The meal includes a bowl of either hot and sour soup or egg drop soup, a bowl of either white or fried rice, and a small piece of fried bread. Food (4/5). There was a good variety of ingredients on the buffet, and a big variety of sauces. I was a little disappointed with my first bites as the six scoops of sauces/oils that I had selected weren't enough to make it sufficiently flavorful. However, adding some soy sauce from the table corrected that! I was also a bit disappointed that some of my favorite Mongolian BBQ ingredients weren't on the buffet -- notably mung bean sprouts, snow peas, baby corns, and scallions. Also, the waitress brought out soups to our table while we were still in line waiting for our main food, so the soups were lukewarm at best when we were ready to eat them. Value: 5/5. Service: 5!5. Our waitress checked on us regularly, and was very friendly. When she saw that our plates were empty, she made a special point of reminding us that it's all-you-can-eat so "you should eat more." (We didn't!) Ambiance. (3/5). This is a two room restaurant, with the front room bring brighter than the back one where the buffet and grill are. A black ceiling makes it feel even darker. That said, the restaurant appears to be popular with locals as most of the tables were full even though it was getting late for the lunch crowd. Parking was free and plentiful. We came here just before dinner time- mainly because it is AUCE and we missed lunch. Good news is- there's always a place for all you can eat- this was that day. It had protein choices:beef, pork, light+ dark meat chicken, tiny shrimp, surimi crab& tofu. Lots of veg, lots of variety of sauces(need6+ ladles full of to make it seasoned). First of all, the woman who greeted us and took our table order was fantastic! She was very sweet and did a wonderful job keeping us informed of the process as well as keeping our drinks full. There was a group next to us, that was talking loud (swearing and talking about adult stuff), so we tried to tune that out. You get your choice of hot sour soup and egg drop. Egg drop was a little thick for me. I will try the hot sour soup next time. The little bread was good, and we took down two bowls of fried rice. For the meal, you grab a bowl and fill it buffet style with raw veggies, seafood, and meat. The veggie selection was decent but it was a little messy. The seafood is baby shrimp or imitation crab. Meat is chicken, pork, beef. They were all frozen and the beef was slightly browned (I assume from being frozen?). We all got beef, however, since that's what we like. We didn't notice the sign that said the chef recommendation is 6+ ladles if flavored oils/sauce. We only did a few so the flavor wasn't strong. On my second bowl (yes, 2nd do it was good) I used one of the seasonings on the counter. At the end, the wonderful woman who took care of us the entire meal brought out orange slices and fortune cookies. We loved the sweet oranges and she brought out some more. That was so thoughtful of her! She made sure we enjoyed our food and checked on us the perfect amount of times. I will eat here again. Service was wonderful and food was decent. read more

We tried this based on yelp reviews and fond memories of Mongolian grill from 20 years ago in New Brunswick, NJ... it didn't disappoint. I loved being able to combine multiple vegetables with my own sauce combos and a bit of lean protein! My favorite sauce combination was oyster, soy, teriyaki, ginger plus small amounts of curry, sesame, and hot oil. While the ambiance is very basic and a bit run down, the food was fresh and well-prepared. The service was friendly. I will return if I'm in the area again. read more

I'm happy as heck to have a Mongolian grill in the area. If you've never been, here's the haps- you get a big ole bowl and get to fill it with whatever protein( they have beef, chicken, shrimp) , veggies ( and I mean everything they include- cucumbers, baby corns, snap peas) and then you dollop on the sauces. Don't be stingy! They burn off so get yourself some dunks of garlic, hot oil, at least 8 ladles. Then they heat your creation up and present it to you. I like to add noodles so it's a total Atkins nightmare over rice but it's a nice treat. Sprinkle on some peanuts or sesame seeds and you're good to go! If you get takeout from here, which is my usual, you also get a choice of soup and their hot and sour is great. Just an added bonus. Came here for lunch today. What a nice spot! And I'm so glad that it has stayed wonderful over the years. The people are super nice and welcoming. The cooks are very skilled and friendly. It was a great experience all around. To start off, they offer soup (hot & sour soup or egg drop soup) and rice (white or fried) for free. You can get more with no additional charge. To make your meal, you will start by grabbing one or two empty bowls and go around the counter of ingredients filling your bowl/s with all kinds of vegetables and meat and later sauces. At the end of the counter you would hand your bowl/s to the chef who will cook the food for you. It's fun to watch on the side where you can wait quietly or have a casual conversation. After it's done, the chef will skillfully transfer your dish on a plate which you will take back to your seat yourself. The cool part is you can go back and get more rounds if you want. It's all you can eat. All for the low price of $10 (weekday lunch, but other times are not a lot more expensive). I highly recommend this place. Yum! I love Mongolian BBQ and was happy to finally check out Bdobo. We went for lunch and it wasn't too busy, so we were able to get in line and build our own bowls quickly. I liked the selection of meats and veggies (though I wish they had tofu-- at least I didn't see any) and their sauces were pretty good too. I only wish they had some chili garlic sauce (not just chili oil) to amp up the heat level. This is a nice inexpensive place to get your bang for your buck. read more

Comparing to other Mongolian establishments I've been to, this falls way short. They do not have the selection of meat or seafood I am accustomed to. No shrimp or scallops. Calamari was frozen as well as was the other meat. None of the vegetables were labeled and waiter could not tell us what vegetables were what. They offered egg drop and hot soup as if it was a Chinese restaurant. The spices and sauces were not labeled how mild or spicy they were. And finally they did not offer an egg to cook in with your meal. This was just a bar with food cooked by two non-Mongolian cooks,cooking with sticks. This is NOT a real Mongolian experience. Pretty good Mongolian Grill in Wilmington. We went on a Sunday. They were supposed to open at 11:00 but when we arrived at 11:20, they were still closed. We were about to leave but the hostess (waiting in her car outside) told us that they would be opening shortly. A little unusual, but we waited bc I didn't know of another Mongolian Grill nearby. After a few minutes she invited us in the restaurant so that we wouldn't have to wait in our hot car. It's all you can eat and you choose what to put into your dish. There is a good selection of veggies, meats, and sauces. It's an assumption that you will include noodles in your dish. There is a sign that suggests 6 scoops of sauce but if you have less than a full bowl, I would recommend no more than 5. I would also suggest staying to watch while your food cooks, especially if there is more than one dish being cooked on the grill. Otherwise you may not know which plate is yours when he's finished. No one will deliver it to your table. I think it is a good Mongolian Grill restaurant and I would consider returning when we are in the area again. However, I think I think it's a better value during the week. It's pricey for their Sunday brunch. read more

As a vegan I was worried about cross contamination, but the guy on the grill cleaned his utensils and separated my food from others.
