$12 for basic cheese dip that comes with 8 fried chips?!?! Stick with El Cazador around the corner.

"Delicious dive on Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach"…read more Came here for lunch on a Sunday at right around noon. The place is dark and kind-of makes you feel like you're in the bowels of a wooden ship. There's a large bar in the center, and a few tables around it, as well as a few tables outside in the back. We were seated right away. I ordered the hot honey shrimp wrap as well as the pickled veggies appetizer. My dining partner got the quinoa grain and greens bowl with blackened tuna. Our food came out in around 10 minutes. The hot honey shrimp wrap came with french fries, to my surprise (didn't see that mentioned on the menu), which were fine. The wrap itself was DELICIOUS. MAN, that hot honey was SO tasty, and the greens and corn batter on the shrimp really complemented it well. It is a very, very messy dish to eat with your hands, so be prepared, but it's well worth the sacrifice. The pickled veggies were local and very tasty-- also a very good value for $5. My dining partner really liked her bowl and the tuna in it as well. The staff were quite attentive, regularly checking in, filling drinks, and clearing dirty plates. Only caution is that a lot of the batters are corn-based, so be careful if you have that allergy. Overall, would very happily come back-- great in all respects. I recommend highly!

The food is fine, but nothing special. The service is slow and they aren't very attentive (unless…read moreyou are sitting at the bar). Really hard to get a parking spot in the paid parking options. Cute little dive bar look but going once was enough for us

This was the perfect place to eat when we didn't want seafood AGAIN and we were ready for lunch…read more We parked the car with the intention of eating at a different place, but we looked across the street and hubby and I must have been on the same wavelength because we both suggested a change in plans at the same time and said, "how about Mexican?" It was a good decision. Service was excellent. The chips were perfect - hot, crispy, thin and fresh. Their salsa is exactly how I like it - savory, just a little spicy, tomatoey-fresh, and with just the right texture. We were off to a rip roaringly good start. In a completely out of character move, I skipped my preference for authentic Mexican food like carnitas and instead ordered the taquito combo. Hubby opted for the 1/2 chimichanga and the kids split a kids meal of enchilada and cheese quesadilla. My taquitos were surprisingly crispy and not at all greasy. The shredded lettuce with pico de gallo and guacamole was fresh and tasty. The rice was rice - and my kids couldn't get enough of it. Hubby's chimichanga was voted "really good" by the hubby. His refried beans were tasty, too. My only disappointment was with the kid's meal. It was a bland quesadilla and a small enchelada. There were no sides - I would have liked them to also get a little beans or rice or salad or something. For a drink I ordered their homemade horchata. It was very good and only cost about $2 for a large glass. You could even see the little bits of cinnamon in the bottom of the glass. They also have a homemade jamaica (hibiscus) drink that I assume would be just a good. We liked the place enough that we stopped back on Tuesday night for $2.99 margaritas and to buy the kids a fried ice cream. My daughter was amazed that the ice cream had actually been fried without melting. For about $4 the dessert was HUGE with a fried flour tortilla, a very large ball of fried ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. It was enough for all four of us to share. Our margaritas were also good. Much more potent than I expected for the special price. Only drawback is that it had to be on the rocks and I like a frozen Margarita. But at $3 for 16 ounces who's to complain. :)

You seat yourself. There's a bar, booths, and high tops. Regardless of where you sit, you will be greeted by some terrific people. Service is amazing. So incredibly welcoming and friendly. It's like they have known you forever. They constantly check in to make sure all is good. We ordered a skinny marg (delicious and no marg mix - fresh squeezed juice), a cucumber/jalapeño tequila w/club, and a screwdriver that was in special. Check the specials as they have lots going on. Drinks were terrific. Ordered the wings and onion rings (wings and rings - not in menu but should be - just made it up as typing). Onion rings were good. Just basic frozen ones. But these wings - yes!!! You can tell why they won awards. Absolutely delicious. We ordered 12 and were able to get two sauce flavors. We got the garlic buffalo (get this) and the hot honey mustard (get these too). Seriously, delicious. Don't skip this place! It's pretty wonderful.

The restaurant was very clean, the food came out hot, and the drinks were nice and cold. I had the boneless tenders with the Texas Pete honey drizzle, and they were excellent. The fried shrimp and mozzarella sticks were really good too. Portions were a little small for me, but the quality and flavor made up for it. Loved the laid-back beach vibe and family-friendly atmosphere. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by!

I was so happy to have such a good restaurant at Blakslee Air Force Recreation Center. When I recently read several negative reviews, I was honestly surprised because that hadn't been my experience. Last month, however, my family and I ate here and ordered two seafood platters and a shrimp dinner. Unfortunately, the food was nothing like it had been the previous year. Everything was over-fried, and for the price we paid, it was very disappointing. I chose not to leave a review because the restaurant was extremely busy, the staff seemed overwhelmed, and I assumed they were simply having an off night. I stay here for one week every month during the spring and summer. This trip, my family wasn't with me, and I was looking forward to enjoying dinner here again. I ordered the shrimp dinner, which came with only 10 small shrimp, French fries that had clearly been refried, and a cucumber salad that had no flavor. I don't normally order fries, but I remembered how fresh they used to be, so I made an exception. Sadly, they were not fresh and tasted like they had been cooked twice. It disappoints me to write this because I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant in the past and wanted to see it succeed. Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly compared to last year. Based on my recent experiences, I won't be dining here again for the rest of the season. I truly hope they can return to the quality they once had.
