Went in for an initial screening and cleaning after losing my previous dentist from insurance plan changes. Office is super clean, modern decor, welcoming and bright. Best dentist office I've been in yet. The equipment they have is all brand new and clean. Very top of the line gadgets that I've never seen before. It was kind of crazy how far tech has come. Dr. Cardoza and his staff make coming to the dentist such a comfortable experience. Before being referred to his office, I had an awful idea of what dentists appointments should be. After experiencing excruciating tooth pain for weeks, I took the leap and he made arrangements for me to come in immediately. That gesture in itself will always stick with me and tells me he cares about his clients-new or old. I needed a lot of work done which meant we became well acquainted. He made sure to numb me appropriately each time and took breaks periodically to make sure nothing had worn off. This was a completely different experience than any I had before! I would refer his office to my friends and family any day! I get my teeth cleaned here and I am currently awaiting my next crown appointment. I seriously think this may be the BEST dentist office in San Diego! I never write reviews, but I want to give a huge shout out to Dr Cardoza. I came in for a filling on an old cavity and some laser treatment on a front tooth. I had had a previous terrible experience with a different dentist and had some serious PTSD. I was super anxious and feeling pretty frantic and he was so calm and so patient and so clearly explained each thing he was going to do. The shot did not hurt. He took his time. He was very careful. Met Dr. Megan Shelton, DDS in Rick Cardoza's office - she is amazing, kind, professional, funny and cared about my nervous state of being! A perfectionist, and that is what a person wants working on their teeth! Wow, my tooth looks good as new, like what I was born with, only better! Megan saved my tooth and I am very happy! Thank you! At 5 months pregnant and in heart throbbing pain in my tooth, I called Dr. Cardoza's office for help! The front staff was able to schedule me a same day appointment and reassured me I would walk out of the office pain free. Dr. Cardoza and his staff from the Front Desk to his Techs were extra cautious with me as I was pregnant. Dr. Cardoza explained step by step what precautions he was going to take with me so that baby would be safe. I ended up needing a root canal and Dr. Cardoza said he wanted to start it that evening. Due to being pregnant my root canal is going to have to be done in 3 phases to keep baby safe. I can't thank Dr. Cardoza and his Staff enough for being extra cautious with me and for staying late to make sure I truly did walk out of the office pain free! read more

Still think the dentist is good. Had decided to stay with them even though they recently went out of network with my insurance. Unfortunately, the front desk manager promised to call me on multiple occasions and never got the information and called me back. More than once. My front tooth crown came out while I was on a business trip. I came into the office late one afternoon with no appointment hoping Dr Cardoza can fix it. The office was extremely busy and shorthanded that day. Dr. Cardoza and his amazing team stayed after hours to repair a complicated situation. We were hoping it would be a quick fix with temporary filler and found out that I had broken the post on root canal that had been done years ago. He was able to go in and create a new post, and fix my front tooth that evening. I have always been confident in Dr. Cardoza'a work, but this week he took it to the next level. So impressed with this Dr. and office staff. I took my shy-of-dental work 7 year old there because of a trusted referral source. Previous bad experiences at other offices had left my son with a fear of the dentist. From our first visit, Dr. Cardoza and his staff were kind, welcoming and explained what they were going to do before they started. Also telling my son to raise his hand to signal if he wanted them to stop gave my son the knowledge that he was in charge. Over many visits (his mouth needed lots of work) I noticed the pre-dentist appointment anxiety diminish. I can't say he loves going to the dentist but he doesn't mind now when I mention we are going. Oh, and I have to mention Dr. Cardoza's use of laser to fill cavities. Why don't more dentists do this?! It's amazing to me that my 7 year old can have a cavity filled with no anesthetic. I've been seen by Dr. Cardoza. Bad experience. He treated me for two things: filling and root canal with crown. I didn't like the filling he did on my front tooth. Appearance wise he changed the look of my teeth and smile. I had a tiny gap between my front teeth and he took it upon himself to close the gap. It looked terrible! It looked like one of my tooth was overlapping the other just to close the gap. He thought he did a great job. My family hated it! I went to see another dentist to have it fixed. I showed her a picture of me prior to Dr. Cardoza and after. She got why I was so upset immediately! She fixed it. I was thankful! The root canal and crown work done by Dr. Cardoza has recently been an issue. The same tooth has been given me problems the past couple of months - almost like having a cavity with pain. I went to see my new dentist (the one who fixed my filling). Come to find out I have an infection on that tooth and had to "re-do" the root canal! I broke down. She also suggested I get a new crown and checked my insurance and found out that I would have to wait until 2021. Well I'm not waiting and will replace the crown before then. I don't trust the one I have from Dr. Cardoza. I regret seeing Dr. Cardoza. He has cost me money, time and tears to get someone to "re-do" his work. I've been to a lot of dentists in my time and I can say this one takes the cake of being the worst experiences of my lifetime. I don't recommend Dr. Cardoza. read more

One day I woke-up and my half of my face was swollen and sore. Guess what I needed? An emergency root canal:( Dr. Cardoza got me into the office in a snap and quickly took care of the infected root. I experienced little to no discomfort and I was on my way! I have had quite a few cleaning appointments as well and I am very pleased with their services. Dr Cardoza was referred to me by a friend. I noticed her beautiful white teeth and asked her who she uses. She said many of her family members use him. I told her I was looking to get a second opinion after I went to Western Dental and was told I need a deep cleaning and had two cavities between the teeth. Total was $4000.00 but with the Western Dental Insurance Plan, $2000.00. I researched deep cleanings and saw that many times corporate dentist companies are trying to meet a bottom line and that a deep cleaning can hurt more than help, if not needed. Dr Cardoza did a complete exam and explained everything they look for when they are determining if there is gum disease, etc. He showed me how I have no signs of needing a deep cleaning, that I just needed a regular cleaning. A couple hours later, I was able to get my cleaning that same day by Kim and she again went over what they look for and said I show no signs of needing a deep cleaning. She did an awesome cleaning on my teeth. Everyone there was very kind and personable. They didn't charge me for the consultation and the cleaning was $105.00. Very inexpensive. Not to mention they did not see any signs of cavities either. They are going to double check the digital x-rays once received, but Western Dental is lagging on sending them over. I had picked up a copy of the x-rays printed, but they didn't see any cavities in that copy. Everything done in one day and no wait to be seen for appointment. Excellent Dentist office!! read more
