i was referred here by my Dr. What a huge mistake. First thing was it takes 2 months to get in. Totally unacceptable to start off. Then they say they had a cancellation and I could get in 7 weeks. (eye roll)!! Then they wanted my email. I said no. Then to top it all off, I have to give this office a credit card number to hold my appointment in 7 weeks! I don't think so. Just trying to schedule an appointment was like a nightmare - forms that were scanned were emailed to me and I could hardly read them (and I'm young and have great vision). Jen, I think it was, was SO unprofessional and rude to me. When giving her my insurance info on the phone she interrupted me rudely when I explained that some other doctors had forgotten a digit and therefore my insurance didn't go through properly. I emailed to cancel my appointment after reading these awful reviews online, and got back a weird message that was clearly typed out but made to look like an auto response, telling me to call. I called 3 times over the course of 24 hours and got sent to the hold line. Left a message asking to please call me back and confirmed I'm cancelled - they called back and didn't leave a voicemail. When I called a third time to confirm, they were SO rude and interrupted me, hung up on me. This is NOT how anyone's medical experience should go. I saw Dr. Sandoval and she is awesome!! Very nice and she answered my 900000000 questions patiently and took the time to explain everything to me in simple terms and took care to ask me how I was feeling etc. With any treatment/medicine she's suggested for me she's been great at explaining the possible side effects, and asking if I have any questions. I hope I don't see her again only because I want to feel better but she's great and I highly recommend! read more

Jennifer in the front was extremely rude and unprofessional. I called the front office asking for the number to their billing office and her response to me was "If you look at the back of the bill you should be able to find it". I brushed that comment off and then kindly asked if they usually inform patients of their deductibles or copay's before there visit. She then said "It is not our responsibility to tell every single patient their deductible or co pay as they should be educated when signing up for their insurance plans. We have a lot of patients, we can't keep track of everyone's copay".... I tried to ignore that comment and explained that I was new to my insurance plan and was unaware that I had a separate deductible for a test that the doctor ordered. She then told me "Well then you shouldn't have gotten it! Nothing is free here". I then expressed that I didn't appreciate her belittling and degrading me and her response was "Well I have been working for the doctor for years and never had any issues and my manager is right next to me if you want to speak with her" I expressed to the manager Judy how I felt and I understood billing wasn't something that the front office handled, but I did not appreciate the way the staff was talking down to me. Everyone has bad days but as a front office employee it is their responsibility to treat patients with kindness and compassion ran that being talked down to whether I was educated or not. read more

One night I woke up and my eyes were swollen shut. I got an allergic reaction from something, which caused me to look worse than Will Smith in the movie Hitch. Time to get checked up for sure, cause you never know when allergies may strike. Sometimes, it can be fatal. Not to mention the fact that all of us suffer from sneezing, coughing, runny nose, and itchy eyes at one time or another. Getting to the consultation was the hardest part. They were booked 3 weeks in advance. A good indication that the Allergy & Asthma Care Center of Southern California was well sought after. They mailed me some forms to fill out, along with my appointment confirmation. I despise filling out long forms in a waiting room, so getting them in advance eases the pain. The receptionists at the front desk were all very cordial. They called me by name and made me feel welcome. More like a customer, than a patient. I was treated by Dr. Steven Meltzer, a very kind and informative professional. He suggested that I take the least amount of antihistamines and drugs needed. Right up front, his intended role was to teach me about the do's and don'ts of allergic attacks. He literally gave me the entire rundown of what could be possible issues and it's symptoms. He even gave me a doggie bag of prescriptions (epi-pen, medication to quickly reduce swelling), just in case, and some clear written instructions for my reference. I've seen many of my friends take over 50 pricks on their skin to test for allergies. Dr. Meltzer recommended that I take just the right amount, rather than testing for everything. Quoting him, "Those other doctors are just making money off your friends. You don't need that many, unless you're absolutely sure that you want more." AWESOME! When was the last time a doctor told you that he'll perform less procedures to save you money? Assuming, nothing horrific happens during my skin testing, I'm going to believe that coming to the Allergy & Asthma Care Center of Southern California was one of the best things I've done for my health in 2013. read more

It's terrible. Trying to get help is so hard . Getting an appointment is easy but if you need help with anything else they give you the cold shoulder and they just don't listen nor explain they just say what they want and have you do all the work . Me working at a doctors office I know as a worker my responsibility to help patients and then patients being responsible for some of their needs but in this office as long as they schedule you anything else they are mean and rude and refuse to help or just transfer the call to the manager . Once you ask for help or a refill they are rude and hang up and don't listen . read more

Have tried repeatedly to make appointments with them. I went in this morning after much back & forth only to learn the appointment I had on my calendar was incorrect according to the rude receptionist. I asked to please see someone its been 2 weeks of back & forth and they couldn't honor it. I recommend everyone to please find another allergy doctor, someone that honors proper customer service. They have a bad attitude and never call back when you leave messages. I also made another appointment & the doctor recommend I remain off meds for 7 days - where as this place said only 3 - which according to two other doctors say that will not give you the proper results needed with the allergy test. Amazing experience today with Dr. Meltzer. It was tricky getting an appointment due to being fully booked but hey that's a good sign right. I asked to be on the call back list incase anything sooner opened up and I was happy to receive a call notifying me that there was a sooner opening! Upon arrival I was greeted by Jennifer who was super sweet and asked me how my day was going. She even noticed and engaged with my son which was really sweet. All of the office ladies were super sweet, professional and accommodating. But Dr. Meltzer blew me by surprise. He was the most thorough doctor I've ever engaged with and I can't begin to explain how grateful I am to have him for my son. He was so informative and engaging the entire time. He came in and instantly gave me an introductory of himself and asked a little about myself and son. His approach was very appreciative. He was also teaching another doctor and I don't recall his name but he was very sweet and professional as well and played with my son while I talked to the doctor. Overall great experience and I can't wait to tell my friends and family! Oh and Dr. Meltzer blew up a balloon and made it into a dog for my son to take home! Up until just a month ago, this would have been a 5 star review. I've been getting allergy shots for 4 years, about 2 years at this office, and it has been an extremely positive experience. However, they recently changed their billing from $30 per shot to $105 with no notice. When I asked to review with someone, I was told that I could only send email. It took almost 2 weeks to get a response and by that time I had already started the process of moving elsewhere over this issue. Not that the response mattered as the explanation was that the increase is due to inflation (really!!???!) and the outcome is that I need to wait for them to bill my insurance before they will release my antigens. I am certain they will find a way to charge me even more with no explanation plus they have now ruined my program since I need to get shots regularly. I have gone to other allergists and these practices are not normal! I beyond disappointed that a positive situation could go south so quickly and a little dumbfounded that no one is willing to go over the details with me. Do yourself a favor and find an office where they are more open to communication. Allergy shots are a big commitment. You need to be able to trust that the billing is correct and that you can talk to someone when there are concerns. read more

Office is greatly under staffed, always put on hold when I call to make or change an appointment. It takes from 3-4 days to get a refill on an existing RX, they always blame the pharmacy for delays. New doctors Williams and Jiang are young and inexperienced. They can't handle anything complicated or any issue that requires a bit of thought. I will never return. I was a patient for 20 years, of doctor Tamaroff; he retired in June 2019. read more

I've had 2 great experiences with Dr. Baskin at this office. I think he is just a visiting Doctor every Tuesday or something like that. I felt like he took the time to answer all my questions and his suggestion helped me to improve my symptoms. It was nice he was also able to provide me with some samples of medication. Both visits i didn't have to wait too long after checking in to get called into a room. The staff at the office was overall friendly as well, especially the woman who takes the payments. I'd be more upset if I had to give my copayment to someone who isn't as friendly and cheerful as her. I won't need to come back to this office unless another problem comes up but I would definitely recommend this office based on my 2 visits here. read more

Came to Dr. Tamaroff after experiencing a weird reaction to a kiwi. After a skin scraping test, a subdural injection test, and a blood test, it has been confirmed! I am only slightly allergic to 2 things... one of which was a reaction to kiwi fruit. So bizzare! I loved this office pre-CoVid before Dr Tamaroff retired. I too noticed the astronomical increase in the cost of allergy shots. When I questioned it I was told they couldn't address it there. I would have to contact the billing office. I let it go. I didn't want to waste my time and energy on something that was going to be useless. When I called another time with a couple questions concerning my allergy shots I was referred to a nurse's answer machine. She didn't return my call until the next day after I had to make the decisions for myself. I called once again today to see if I could get an appointment with the doctor since my allergies have gotten worse. Maybe a med change in order? Of course, no one called me back. I don't even know who my doctor is. I requested Dr Meltzer but that was denied. Not sure if I am now on my second doctor since Dr Tamaroff. After 20 years it may be time to look for a more responsive allergy office. I know CoVid had had a huge impact. But not returning calls in a timely manner is unacceptable. They had 5 hours before closing for the weekend to respond to my request for an appointment. read more

Dr. Jiang is EXCELLENT! For the last 4 mos I have been treated by Dr. Fonda Jiang and I am so so pleased. After being plagued all my life with acute asthma I still had scary ER visits and difficulties with lung infections. In the last 4 mos she has changed my medication regimen and dramatically improved my quality of life and well-being. Her style and manner is professional and caring. I would follow this physician most anywhere. Note: I do find contacting her and coordinating meds, testing to be challenging but that is not a reflection of her but how busy or tech challenged the Center is. 5 stars! read more

The office is appalling. They say their office hours to phone in- but it always goes straight to the machine and they never call back. When I asked them for a detailed receipt of my copay visit they never sent it- had to call back about 4-5 times- Im still waiting. In the middle of Hay season- one of their Allergists decides to take a 3 week vacation. When I asked to see another doctor in their absence they only offer a visit with a nurse, despite my extreme allergy case. Pick any other Allergist office. The mechanics of this one are terrible. The Doctor is alright, except instead of being high tech and putting things in a computer the doc writes everything down in cursive and it makes the appointment very long and tedius and nobody in the future will be able to have your information because it would just be an ancient hand written photocopied script. read more

Most challenging and difficult receptionist ever. Called several times on two different days. First day, despite their very long message and complicated hours -I was not able to get through to make an appt. Finally received their messaging center who said they were closed for the day, not sure why. Called back the next day, was routed to a dead line twice. Called back again, was asked a few questions then put on hold for more than 7 minutes. Finally got to speak to someone who was rude and impatient. I had already told the last person all of the questions she was asking me again. Then she said she didn't remember my name, despite the fact that I told her I had moved away and not been there in a few years and offered me a new patient appointment 3 months out. Long story short - you couldn't pay me to go to such a rude office. We call doctors office for care not attitude. read more

Waited a month and a half to get a new patient appointment, filled out all the paperwork and received an appointment date from the main office. I get up to the office, which is majorly po-dunk and am informed that my appointment is tomorrow. I show the lady my paper that says my appointment is today and she tells me that the computer says otherwise. But the paper from YOUR office says it's today! She was super rude and didn't apologize for THEIR mistake. Apparently this place doesn't want new clients because I'm not going back. read more

My 7 year old son who has Autism has seen Dr. Meltzer a few times now. He is great with my little guy, he explains everything to him and even makes him a balloon animal after every visit. His staff has been super kind and patient while doing patch tests and helping with all paperwork. The office is large and air conditioned (nice in summer), they have a big waiting area with a separate section for kids, which includes toys, a television, a large kids height table and more chairs. Wifi is free! Couldn't ask for more. They are obviously well-equipped to serve the community's allergy needs. We are so happy to have found this office. Today was my first visit for my allergies with Dr. Melter. I was impressed with how efficient the staff was with processing my paper work and how detailed the doctor was with my examine. I like his approach on less meds/injections (magic words for my ears). He listened to my concerns & gave me many options to choose from. Plus he gave me samples of a few products to try. I like the all in one visits & not running around to go get things. Working for a busy medical office myself I take special attention to detail & this office definitely has it. As a lifelong runner, I was devastated to find out I had developed exercise induced asthma as an adult. I had a couple of really scary 10Ks, and then my GP directed me to Dr. Meltzer. He has completely saved my life. He listened to me, understood that my goal was to continue running, and has managed my asthma amazingly. I just got my Starfish medal for the Beach Cities Challenge: three half marathons in seven months. I ran strong in all of the races and felt fabulous. This review is for the staff not the doctors (Dr. Meltzer is great!). I love the staff most the time. They are friendly and helpful, but if you don't do something by the book, their demeanor will completely change. One time I didn't have my next allergy shot written down in the book (and honestly I am almost sure that a staff member was using the book and I was told to verbally tell her, but it never was written in). I completely got chewed out for showing up and not being on the schedule. It took them like 5 min to give me my shot so clearly it wasn't this time consuming effort to prepare it. I understand wanting to make sure that shot appointments are scheduled but they shouldn't have made me felt like a little kid getting reprimanded, especially for the very first time it happened after more than a 9 months of getting shots and the first 6 months were weekly shots! These were the same people that I've had a great relationship with too! Very strange. Now I've been getting shots for over 2 years. They close at 6:30p on Tuesdays (the only day they stay open late). I got off work later than normal from Torrance and, weaving in and out of traffic on the 405, to make it by 6:30p. I was about 5 min from being there which would have put me less than 5 min late but I still called to let them know (so they wouldn't lock the door or something). The receptionist put me on hold for about 4 min. By the time she came back on the phone, it was 6:33p and I was parking in the lot. I told her this and she said I'm sorry its after 6:30p. After being nice and explaining myself, she still said no saying it was policy. I had to get a little crazy on the phone because it was so ridiculous! No way was I not getting my shot. She put me on hold to "check" if it was okay. When she came back she said ok but you have to hurry. I was already walking up the stairs. When I got in, I was cold shouldered by the receptionist and also by the lady giving the shots. Again people that I've been totally cool with for over 2 years. I was done with my shot and back in the waiting room by 6:36. And this is the first time I've ever been late. So I hope that this company reads this review to change this type of extreme behavior from the staff. If I was 10min late, I'd understand. If I was always late, I'd understand. Same with missing a shot appointment in the book. One time, don't chew me out. Sadly, this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I am slightly considering another allergy place. read more

Dr. Steven Meltzer is Amazing! My 5 year old Son suffers from dermittis/ezcema. After a year of seeing a dermatologist and another allergist that didn't help my son at all! I finally got to Dr. Steven Meltzer and after one visit my Son is back to Normal. He is amazing! He was very patient and listened to all my questions and concerns and addressed each one of them and if that's not all enough he has a great bedside manner and he is very wonderful with my son and makes him feel very comfortable. I don't know what we would do without him! His staff is wonderful and friendly and the nurse that did my sons prick test was Fast! He didn't even feel a thing. It can be hard to get into to see Dr. Steven Meltzer, but that is because he is a kind, intelligent, and all-around brilliant doctor who is highly sought out by patients and parents of patients with asthma. My daughter has seen him for 17 years. When she first started seeing him, she could not run and play due to massive asthma attacks. Not only did Dr. Meltzer get her asthma under control, my daughter actually went on to compete for five years in a sport with precious few problems. read more
