What an unstaffed mess. I ended up helping an elderly man who couldn't walk up and retrieve his order, who sat patiently by the door for his plain bagel and plain black coffee for 20 minutes. Then the cup they handed him was so hot he burnt his hand. Come on. Why make him wait? Fill the cup, grab the bagel, he's done. I had to run and get him an extra cup because everyone else was running around scrambling. Then my order. $1.99 for the bagel, $2.99 for the cream cheese. Strange approach but sure. Order 2 untoasted everything bagels with veggie cream cheese. Wait my 20 minutes. I'm super nice about the wait. Get home. I have one bagel, not everything, scallion cream cheese. Bagels are pretty good but I've been charged 50 cents to add lettuce to a tuna sandwich. I know it's not much but still, who does that? Also, I know they close in early afternoon but when I go in at 1 they're already mopping the floor, etc getting ready to close. The sandwiches were really good. They were a little bit on the pricier side for a breakfast sandwich, upcharging more for certain things. The store was pretty busy, but the food didn't take too long to come out. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor which was nice. Every time I go in after 12:00, they are out of many types of bagels. I get that they don't want to have a lot of waste, but how can you be out of sesame or whole wheat or plain bagels and have FULL trays of other bagels. I thought it was just a one-time thing, but it has happened several times this past month. Poor inventory planning and no flexibility. Shocked! I never expected to find a Bagel shop this good in Southport. I'm originally from the land of bagel and a schmear, and these are some of the best bagels I've ever tasted. Crispy outside and light and chewy inside. Perfection. The selection of fresh hot bagels is extensive and the homemade flavored cream cheeses make the perfect compliment. I used to love grabbing a breakfast burrito at Bagel Dock and taking it to the beach! Unfortunately, this spot seems to have taken a downward turn. I stopped in this morning (Wed 4/30/25) and ordered 2 burritos to go. I was surprised to find the service very cold and unfriendly, as it used to be very warm and inviting. Bummer. We waited quite a while for our burritos. When we got to the beach and opened the bag, the burritos were loosely wrapped in extremely wrinkled foil that almost seemed pre-used? The burritos themselves were much smaller than they used to be, and the quality was poor. Very little egg. Sloppy assembly. The potatoes inside were mushy and unappetizing. Damn. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Their food is incredible and the bagels are so fresh. They have wonderful prices and friendly service which makes it all the better. There are several picnic tables outside and a few tables inside to enjoy your meal. I have been to Bagel Dock about four times since it opened. The bagels are good, but, it doesn't come close to a NY bagel. The style of the bagel looks good, however, it lacks the crispy crunch on the outside. I thought because I bought them later in the day, they just soften up over time. My last visit I was really psyched, I got there at 6:15am, they opened at 6:30, I was the first customer and there were tons on bagels in the racks, all that I ordered were cold and doughy.
