I was told my back injury was because I was too fat and should be back to normal in a week. The Newport doctor spent 10 minutes on me and pushed me out the door. Well, two weeks after that I was still in excruciating pain and was unable to walk. After that I went to Dr. Legome's office. He did a thorough exam that took around 30 minutes, and after he was certain I had herniated disc. He said that I would need an epidural and ordered an MRI to make sure of the location that I needed to be injected. The MRI came back and sure enough I had a herniated disc that was causing the trouble. I had an epidural and got relief, and subsequently Dr Legome has had me doing exercises that have been helping improve my ability to walk and move around. I think Dr Legome is a godsend, and I appreciate the time he spends making accurate and intelligent diagnoses. I will be a patient of his for a long time I'm sure, and I would recommend him to anyone with back issues.

Dr. Moss was recommended to me by a friend's midwife so I knew I could trust her with my body and that my unborn baby would also be safe with her treatment. I left a message on the voice mail and she called back right away. She was friendly and professional over the phone and thank the Lord, she was also able to see me the same day! When I got to the office, she was warm and welcoming, which was great since I was in pain and didn't have much experience with chiropractors in general. She performed a thorough exam (which also would have included x-rays if I was not pregnant) and checked nerve loss, reflexes, range of motion, blood pressure, pulse, and more. She was specific but efficient and able to identify how to proceed right away. She did adjustments both by hand and adjustments using the drop table and was very careful to make sure my stomach (and baby) were supported correctly on the adjustable table. In the end, I felt so much better and went from literally limping when I walked very slowly and having pain with almost every movement, to being able to walk almost normally and bending down again without pain and turning my head without pain! This chiropractor was an answer to prayer. I have another appointment later this week to get more adjustments since she didn't want to overwhelm my body with everything at once. I am also looking forward to getting a pregnancy massage there with one of the therapists. This practice has a very focused approach and Dr. Moss is knowledgeable, has a gentle and effective touch and truly cares about her patients- even first-time patients!

I had some sleep issues that were really bothering me and my neurologist recommended that I do a…read moresleep study. My insurance company base all referrals to external clinics off of my home address and the Renaissance Sleep Center of OC was the closest place to me. Seriously, it was literally down the street from my house. Super convenient! I might as well have done the study in my own bed! I had a short talk with the phone receptionist and she scheduled my appointment for 9PM. She was super friendly and very professional. She even e-mailed me the package that I need to fill out beforehand to expedite my experience, and directions to the clinic. The trip at night was a bit creepy. I've never done anything like this before and driving into an empty plaza in the middle of the night is on the odd side. But the actual parking lot for the sleep center was a semi-cul-de-sac area, so it did feel a bit safer. There's only one technician at night so the doors to the front remain lock so they can engage their patients without the worry of someone sneaking in. The technician working that night was Mitch. Mitch was super informative and really knew his stuff. He had a great personality, which never hurts, and walked me through the whole process. Being a person of the medical field, of course I had to throw in a couple of tests into the conversation, but he passed through with flying colors. The room was really great; hotel-like even! You get your own satellite TV and bathroom; equipped with shower! The room is very well-kept, but there are no electrical outlets; so make sure your phone is fully charged if you anticipating going straight into your day afterwards. The process was pretty crazy. Mitch hooked up about 20 wires to me and expected me to just fall asleep with ease. I felt like a robot, but it was kind of cool at the same time. Surprisingly, I did fall asleep pretty easily. By the way, the tech will use this sticky Vaseline-like adhesive to keep the wires from pulling out while you're sleeping. Even with a good shower, you really have to scrub to get that gunk out. The next morning, he told me it would take a couple days to get the results back and he'd let my neurologist know how it went. I did call back to verify the results got sent in, and they did! Absolute great experience with Renaissance. If only I didn't have to go to work afterwards...

Louise brings over thirty years experience as a nurse to her acupuncture practice. There isn't anything health related she hasn't seen. She also incorporates color and sound therapy into her acupuncture treatments which are highly relaxing. She explained that the color and sound therapies can also be used alone for children and grown-ups who might still be afraid of acupuncture needles. Her treatment left me feeling relaxed and less bloated. I slept like a baby that night. It was an excellent treatment. I will make time to see Louise more often.

I have had work related neck, shoulder, back, and arm pain for years and when I have visited other chiropractors in the past, they quickly and roughly cracked my neck and back and told me to come back for similar adjustments. I always felt like this approach was doing more damage than good and that it was not addressing the root of the problem. Dr. Downing discussed options for strengthening and stretching to help fix my problem rather than just cracking me back into place every week. She also discussed life style and nutritional changes to help with my overall health instead of only focusing on my sore neck. A very good friend recommended Dr. Jo to me and I had no problem making an appointment. His office is located in the same Plaza as Mitsuwa. When you step inside, its almost as if you are in an office in Japan (which I absolutely adore). He was very busy and to be honest, I did wait about 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment (Which he was very apologetic about). I love the whole 'eastern' medicine approach and Dr. Jo's bedside manner. He made 2 minor adjustments AFTER he spent about a half hour massaging and testing some of my muscles (he has a great touch, btw...not pervy at all). My pet peeve w/chiropractors is that they adjust and start cracking w/out really seeing what really needs to be done. I also gained a lot of insight about my adrenals. Dr. Jo was able to tell me what I was stressed out about w/out me mentioning a thing.....which was amazing. He gave me some exercises I can do at my desk and I will be seeing him in about 2 weeks. Yes....its a drive for me to drive to Torrance, but its worth it. Plus, the pricing is very reasonable for a Dr. these days.

My headache even went away, which has been going on for two weeks. I have been to a few other practices since I moved to Los Angeles and was shocked that they wanted me to spend thousands of dollars in long term "wellness" programs that remind me of a pyramid scheme.
