    Vegan buffet

A whole vegan buffet twice a month?! You know where my husband and I will be the first and third Wednesday of every month! We've been 4 times now and we are so happy everytime! I love seeing what new items will be there each time. The desserts are always killer! The vibe is nice and the booths are clean! We are always greeted with a smile and sat immediately, even if were early for the buffet. Thank you Rajput for offering vegan options and a whole buffet! If you're not vegan, you should still try this buffet. The cauliflower is by far my favorite and the coconut rice dessert!

Love the decore soon as you come in and the mood definitely is set. The service was spot on. I wanted Saag paneer, but they ran out. So better get there early for that dish. I opt fir chicken tikka Masala sauce and Goat Jalfrezzi. The chicken was very dry, but the sauce made up for it. The goat Jalfrezzi was slightly better! All in all it was okay. I do feel it was a little to pricey for my taste.

We were the first ones in line for the lunch buffet. It is worth the price because the selection was amazing! Everything cooked to perfection. If you aren't sure if you like Indian food, this is a perfect starting point. The staff is so friendly and of course there's Bollywood playing on the TV. It is a very peaceful environment. Treat yourself to the lunch buffet. You won't be disappointed!

I always love this place! Good variety on the buffet options, seasoned well, and great staff. And oh my goodness, the chai is a MUST HAVE! I'm a lunch regular and highly recommend it.

I cannot express how disappointed I was after leaving this place. First thing, walked in and wasn't seated or talked to for ten minutes. After being shown to the seats, I got weird vibes from all the waiters the entire time. We ordered our food, and some people came in after us and sat behind us. To my surprise they got their food first and it was about a 20 minute difference. After getting the food, I felt very rushed. I took a bite of the chicken and it was rubbery, almost uncooked. They also got the order wrong, might i add. After leaving, not even 10 minutes down the road our stomachs are hurting. It's been one hour since leaving and I feel the absolute urge to throw up and super sick. On the plus side, the iced tea was delicious !

Rajput seems to be doing something right. It has managed to win the Gold award as the Best Indian Restaurant by Coastal Virginia Magazine's Best Of Reader's Choice Awards for 2022. Rajput was first established in the city of Hampton in 1999. The Ghent Norfolk location opened in 2003 and is closing in on 20 years in business. It is stationed prominently in the Center Shops complex on 21st Street across from an Aldi supermarket. There is a Game Stop next door. A Virginia Beach location opened in 2011 and later moved to Suffolk in 2014. A third location is coming soon to the Greenbrier section of Chesapeake. Their social media presence is very active. New menu items and other specials are constantly featured. The return of their Vegan Buffet Night on the first Wednesday of each month was recently announced. My first visit was an aborted mission. I came in for lunch on a weekday at 2:00 pm. They close for lunch at 2:30 pm before reopening for dinner at 4:30 pm. The hostess informed me that they close for lunch at 2:30 and that I would have to finish eating by that time. I didn't want to be rushed and told her I would come back earlier on another day. She then told me I could stay until 2:45. It was now 2:06. I thought about it for a moment but still decided to leave. I didn't want to cause any further tension and had already lost my appetite. In order to sample their food and complete my review, I decided to arrive no later than 1:30 pm for my follow-up lunch visits. A small arc shaped bar is on the right as you enter. Walls with deep red tones and wood paneling in the dining area radiate with a feeling of warmth. There is an split level floor plan with the lower dining section in the rear. Their lunch buffet is offered each weekday. I am not a buffet person, so I ordered from the menu while giving my server my preferred Indian hot spice level each time. I tried the following during my recent visits: GARLIC CHILLY NAAN: This is some of the best Naan I have ever tasted. The garlic and chili flavors came through nicely with a crispy texture and a zesty dose of heat: My Rating: 5 Stars. MANGO LASSI: This is a classic creamy yogurt based drink that originated in India. The version served here was satisfactory. The mango flavor came through nicely, but I would have liked a little more chill. My Rating: 4 Stars. SPINACH PAKORA: Ordered from their list of Appetizers, this one consisted of 6 bite size crispy spinach fritters. A pakora has been described as an Indian style hush puppy. I found their textures to be a bit dry with a few prickly sharp edges. The two sauces did little to soften them. The tamarind sauce was tasty, but a stronger spinach flavor from the pakora was desired. My Rating: 3 Stars. CHICKEN 65: Ordered from their list of Street Foods, this is a South Indian dish with spicy chunks of deep-fried chicken seasoned with red chilies. This dish was allegedly invented at the Buhari Hotel in India in 1965. The chicken was tender and tasty. It fell short of a true Indian hot, but it was satisfactory overall. My Rating: 4 Stars. CHILLY CHICKEN RICE BOWL: This is a new addition launched in May of this year. It consisted of chunks of spicy chicken, rice, and assorted vegetables. The heat level was very mild and a long way from the Indian spice level I ordered. The chicken was actually more sweet than spicy, leaving my hot tooth disappointed. My Rating: 3 Stars. CHICKEN BIRYANI: This is my favorite Indian dish. Unfortunately, the rice was damp and gummy instead of exhibiting the dry and fluffy single grain texture I have come to love and expect from a traditional Dum style pressure cooked Biryani dish. My Rating: 2 Stars. I ordered it a second time during another visit when two of their other selections were unavailable. My first choice was their Goat Sukka, a new South Indian specialty that was introduced in June. My server told me the chef on duty didn't know how to make it. My second choice was the Chicken Makhni Uttapam, but it wasn't available either. That was when I decided to give their Chicken Biryani a second try. I had better luck this time with the rice delivering an improved flavor and texture, although a bit clumpy in spots. My photo shows the better version. My Rating: 3.5 Stars. KHEER: This is an Indian rice pudding dessert dish that is made with rice, milk, sugar, and often flavored with cardamom or cinnamon, raisins, and chopped nuts. The version I tried here was bland and lacking in flavor. I was unable to detect any flavors of cardamom or cinnamon.. There were no raisins or chopped nuts that I could see or taste. My Rating: 2 Stars. The service I received during my follow-up lunch visits was friendly and attentive. When I crunch the food numbers, I am unable to go above a 3-star rating at this time. I may try again next year. Let me close by wishing Rajput the best of continued success, including the opening of their new Greenbrier location.

Great place for authentic Indian food! The restaurant is large and nicely appointed with Indian flair. It's like traveling to another country without the hassle of flying. A gentle water feature greets you as your enter, transporting you to a far away land! The exotic aromas permeate the place and whets your appetite for what's to come! With their buffet, you can partake in a myriad of dishes bursting with flavor! They have naan, mint chutney, daal, chaat, lamb, chicken tandoori, butter chicken, just about everything you could possibly want!! So the buffet is a great way to get a taste of everything. It allows you to decide what to pick and return for more! So bring your appetite as you embark on a quest of some of the most flavorful dishes you could ever imagine! The staff was friendly and service impeccable!

The restaurant in Norfolk had the lunch buffet whereas Suffolk did not. They did have tasty hot food on the buffet but only one type of dessert. I did fill up quickly and I appreciated the trays for the buffet instead of plates. I would suggest the Rajput in Norfolk if you were thinking of this cuisine.

When you enter, you order at the counter. If you are dining in, you choose where you'd like to sit, and your food is brought out on trays. They do use paper plates and plastic utensils, but again, it is fast-casual. They have a vegetarian side of the menu and then a side with meat. The only meat they offer is chicken. We got the Chicken Biryani and the Chicken Curry and garlic naan. We asked for it to be VERY mild. The flavor was all very good but I would not call it mild lol that's probably my only complaint - it was a little too spicy for me. I have been to other Indian places that offer American mild, medium, hot AND indian mild, medium, hot. I think they realize that they are able to tolerate a lot more spice! I would say my meal was probably "Indian" mild. I realize spice is subjective, and I am a wimp! They offer a variety of different drinks in their cooler and they have a filtered water station. They do not offer ice at all. Our food came out very fast but was still PIPING hot and fresh! The customer service was excellent. The gentlemen at the counter was extremely nice! During our meal one of the women from the kitchen came out to use the restroom but stopped to ask us how our meal was and to let them know if we needed anything. Very sweet people! I would absolutely recommend this place for a flavor, service, and If you like spicy!

The restaurant wasn't completely full but that soon changed with several families coming in right after us. The restaurant is on the smaller side, clean and decorated well. We went on a Saturday night and ordered off of their special weekend menu. We definitely over ordered. There were 3 of us and we had enough leftovers for a full meal the next day. We ordered the masala cheese dosai, butter chicken, nalli gosht biryani and malai lamb chops. The nalli gosht is the goat shank biryani, we got the order for 2 people, it comes with 2 goat shanks on a mountain of fluffy fragrant basmati rice. The goat was tender falling off the bone, seasoned to perfection in a spicy masala paste/sauce. We got it at level one spice but it tasted spicer. We didn't mind because the spice just added to the flavor. It was so good! We also got the usual butter chicken which turned out to be not so usual because like everything else we tried, the spice combo and depth of flavor just turned it up several notches. The masala cheese dosai was a great start to the meal and was fun to eat with our hands. The lamb chops were a last minute addition and so worth it. The chops were cooked perfectly in a flavorful sauce and served with a veggie slaw. Overall, we LOVED everything we tried and would definitely recommend Biryani Hub. The only suggestion we have would be to serve cold water or offer ice. Our waiter brought a bottle of water to the table with glasses but the water was more room temp. Other than that, it was a great experience.
