I apologize as this is way late - I wrote it ages ago but I seem to have forgotten to post it so it may be a bit dated (like years!) : Soooo ... I don't get the bad reviews. Maybe it was a bad day for all involved but I feel that they were undeserved. I want you the reader to know I have no affiliation with Beach Medical other than being a patient. I'm not some paid-for person giving a review - these are my honest opinions: I'm in the process of getting both shoulders and a knee operated on in San Diego but I live nearby Beach Medical in IHB Florida. With this whole Covid thing all my appointments got tossed up in the air including my MRIs which were to take place in San Diego. I had a doctors consult scheduled May 6th and was to get the images done May 4th but my flights got cancelled. I'd driven past Beach medical numerous times (it's right across from Too Cool Cafe which is an awesome restaurant!) so I thought I'd give them a call on April 27th ... first, they were super professional and nice on the phone and were able to schedule not one, but all three MRIs in that week. In my experience it would take a month or more to schedule an MRI! ... so on to the visits ... The office was spotless and they were doing a great job keeping people distanced and everyone (including me) had masks on. Arleen was very professional and pleasant at the front desk, and Terisina was way too eager to take my copay ... lol ... As I saw them each visit we all joked around a little as I came in. Rod and Lizzy were my MRI techs and both were really nice, making sure I was comfortable and got me in and out of the procedure safely and courteously. OBTW the machine used was their open MRI which was much nicer than the closed ones I had been in before. Finally, I met Dr. Beirre. He was very nice, professional and quite courteous as well. All of my reports were sent to San Diego by the end of the week and they gave me a DVD to mail after the end of my last scan. I was able to keep my doctor consult appointment (via video) that following week and my doctor had no complaints whatsoever with the quality of the imagery or the reports. I want to say thank you to all the staff there for getting me in under such short notice, working with my insurance, and getting the results to my doctor promptly. Well done. :) CB read more

Do not go to this clinic. I won't even get into the extremely looonngg wait to be seen, or the run down office building, or the terrible bedside manners of the place and just tell you this ....I brought a very high profile celebrity here and Dr. Beirre (who told me he was the owner) harassed him ... pushing his 12(ish) year old son onto him while he was in the back waiting room between tests being treated! I also heard him telling another patient who he was and pointing etc. I didn't say anything about it then. I sat patiently waiting and was quietly on my cell phone to my boss's wife who was very concerned because she could not be there. Then Dr. Beirre came up to me and asked me to hang up the cell phone. I immediately complied and attempted to explain who I was talking to. At that point, I asked him to please not have any children ask for autographs or pictures with my boss, he lost it! He yelled "THAT IS MY KID! And I will have my kid go wherever he wants and do whatever he wants!" He went on to say I need to get the @%# off the premises or he would have me arrested. I said, "For what?" He ignored me and yelled at his nurse to call the police!! Lol. I couldn't believe how quickly this escalated. I was literally in shock. I explained to him that my boss is 90 years old and I cannot leave him; and he said "YOU ABSOLUTELY WILL!!! I OWN THE PLACE!! GET OUT!" I decided not to "poke the bear" and walked outside to wait for my boss' tests to be done and 2 policemen drove up! They told me they were sorry and that this was silly but since he owns the property he can have me trespassed for no reason!! BUT, they said, he would "allow" me to wait in the parking lot for my boss/his patient. I was absolutely flabbergasted! All this to say, there are way too many other professional imaging centers to go, than to go to one that would be so unprofessional and downright rude. We will NEVER be back. Do NOT believe their website to what machines they have and to what medical grade they actually are. On their website it states they have a "High Field Closed MRI" and in fact they do not (my doctor called after the scans were in to ask as these had to be done on a closed High Field MRI which they claimed to have on their marketing). So I would not trust this place. I got imaging done here thinking it was what what was needed (even talked to the lady doing the MRI about how much closed MRI's have come along since the last one I have had and she said nothing to the fact that I was misdirected and lied to about what testing I was getting done there), it was such poor quality I have to get it repeated and am going somewhere else. One thing they do right is they don't put the quality on the paperwork to the insurance as most insurance companies will NOT even accept what they have and will NOT pay if they know. And I know if they come on here in response saying that I may not know what I am talking about, they are right, but I asked my mother after I was done here raving about how much MRI's have changed, to a woman who sold and leased MRI's, CT's and many other imaging machines for many years (not for a specific manufacturer either she could get any manufacturer the doctor or facility wanted) and her response was that I better be calling my insurance company to see what their policies are to see if they will pay for another. Because that scan will show nothing and be about 30% of the quality of just the base scan that most doctors will accept and be somewhat ok with. (For the nerds, their MRI scanner is a 0.3 Tesla when the base MRI scanner 1.0 Tesla, now their's is an Open MRI, but even now Open MRI's have come out with some over 1.2 Tesla strength) So just keep in mind when you go to their site they proudly put that their MRI scanner as the best when in fact it's not, so I would question all their imaging machines if they cannot even represent what they offer online correctly. read more

I was referred to Beach Medical Imaging for a brain MRI. The facility told me they accept my health insurance but did not tell me beforehand that their radiologist, Dr. Beirne, did not. Surprise! I was stuck with a big bill. For me, the MRI was very stressful. They had no headphones or earplugs, just a loud radio playing mostly commercials. The loud banging right above my head for 45 min, was stressful. Afterwards, my BP spiked at 185/125. Dr. Beirne added more stress by saying "oh no" while reviewing my MRI results. Apparently, his computer had problems. I was terrified that I had a brain tumor (my brother died from brain cancer), but Beirne would only talk about my neck pain. I had to ask 2-3 times before he said the MRI was normal. I was visibly shaken, but no one did or said anything to calm me down. I refused another appointment here, and after getting their bill, I'm glad I refused! read more

I went to Beach Medical for a MRI referral for a injured knee. I could not walk. They were rude, uncaring and unhelpful. all they care was for the money they need to get for the services. They could not even give you a cup to get some water from the water bottle. They gave my Id to another person. They ask for your credit card information in the medical paperwork when you sign in, Is that legal? Can they do this even thought you have medical insurance? I walked out and will never go back even thought I am still waiting to get another MRI in another facility. it is a shame that the Medical services are becoming more and more, all about money and not care to the patient. I was so grateful I went to Beach Medical for my MRI. My doctor referred me for my constant back pain that I was just bearing with because I was nervous about getting an MRI. It was comfortable, not at all what I thought, although a little noisy the machine had no sides. They found I did have bulging discs and I was able to get in quickly to be seen by Dr. Beirne. He gave me injections for the pain. I went from worrying about standing to back to walking daily. I would highly recommend this facility, very caring and thorough and explained in terms I could understand. Still feeling good almost a year later. read more

I was nervous about getting an mri, but your equipment was not what I expected, no tunnel to worry about. I can't say enough about Dr. Beirne's thoroughness and appreciate how he explained my injury and healing process. Feeling much better and I am glad to be able to get back to work. Thank you!
